STARFIELD discussion

I got the Star Eagle. I just need to come up with a way to ugprade the cargo
You should just be able to slap on some extra cargo holds at any ship vendor. You'll lose mobility though unless you upgrade the engines. You'll change the design a bit too.

I didn't want to ruin the Star Eagle, so I wound up repurposing the Mantis ship to build a Star Eagle replacement, just for more cargo space. You have some tier 3 (ship design 3) parts (engines namely I believe) that you can't buy at low levels.

The Mantis ship is what you get for completing the Mantis quest line. You get it from a slate (tablet thing) you loot randomly off of Spacers. You may already have it in your inventory called "Secret Outpost".

It took a while to get it right, so I probably would have been better off repurposing the Star Eagle.

I think a lot of complaints of this this game can be summed up as:

"Game too big. Make brain hurt"

Not an insult, BTW. It makes my brain hurt too. This fucker is a schedule clearer. You gotta be all in on this one. Can't just dip your toes. It demands your full attention. A streamer's dream, but the rest of us might be a bit overwhelmed.
I'm inclined to disagree, I'm 80+ hours in and honestly, the universe is just kind of dull. There are not many interesting interactions nor interesting random encounters.

It's possible. I haven't put too much time into yet, but every time I play it, it feels like I'm only playing 10% of what it has to offer. I'm just following random quest threads, like I would in their other titles, but it feels like I'm not playing it right.

That's what it feels like, but honestly that 10% is mostly what it has to offer.

Nah, I don't feel that. I had similar ho-hum feelings towards "Fallout 4", before it finally started to click, and all of it's systems started meshing together. I didn't give a shit about the crafting in that game...until I did. I'm not making the same mistake with this one, just because it hasn't immediately hooked me(in part because I'm splitting my time with it). I can recognize the ridiculous scope of this game, and I just need to give it the proper attention it demands, before I truly judge it.

Once I wrap up "Sea of Stars", I'm jumping into this fucker with both feet.

Just picked it up for PC. Played a few hours this AM. Had one crash, but otherwise running fairly smooth on my AMD 6650 XT on medium to settings.

I like the open setting like previous Bethesda titles. Will be pretty interesting to see what the modding community does with this.

I mean you can feel whatever you want, I played the shit outta Fallout 4. I loved it when everyone was hating on it for not being as good as 3 or NV lol. I loved the crafting. The crafting in Starfield is eh, the base building is eh. None of it is as good as Fallout 4. The cities are lifeless, with roughly a 1/20 ratio of Drone NPC's and NPCs you can actually talk with. The story missions are its strength with the Crimson infiltration arc being awesome.
But I've gone to hundreds of planets, explored a lot of places and the game is just empty. Sure you'll come across Dodo's the size of a T-rex but that's about it lol, the game lacks the hand crafted charm of the other games and it suffers because of it. "The ridiculous scope" as you say is what lead to its downfall. It's stretched like too little butter over too much bread.

I guess I'll eventually find out. I'm not in a position to say anything else right now.

I'll give you one tip though. The game opens up after you finish it. That's when the party begins.

@GtehMVP regarding the Eye mission you told me about the other day

When you get to the part where you have to decide between saving Andreja or Sarah, if I'm already married to Sarah but she dies does that mean I can start a relationship with Andreja afterwards?

I didn't Marry Sarah, but we were about to. From what I know, you can marry another, so long as you break it off with your current partner. I guess yours is officially broken off lol.

I'm married to Andreja now, and can break it off

You can still save Sarah if you want to though. If she was on the Eye, then you have to go there (you can leave the lodge), just load an earlier save. Andreja will then die, or whoever you have the highest affinity level with, at least that's the working theory. I was able to reload and Sarah, but not only did I want Andreja, I felt Sarah's death is the better canon.

Sarah's death really caught me off guard. I only met Andreja after we have that moment with Sarah on the planet when we find the stranded girl. Sarah and I made things official there, but once I met Andreja... After a few missions with her (think Vlad splits Sarah and I up to take her to the Eye), I was already thinking of moving on, then Sarah's death saved me an uncomfortable conversation lol. It was still pretty shocking though. I actually had an activity from Sarah wanting to talk. Did you get that and actually talk to her?

Oh I haven't progressed that far in the story, I only just got Andreja and that's as far as I've gone in the main story, I've been doing other stuff. But me and Sarah are about to get married.

I was just thinking if it was possible lol

It’s funny I was one of those people that hated fallout 4, or at least never really enjoyed it, I got to righty before you enter the institute and dropped it. I can agree with most of your criticisms of starfield but I’m actually having fun with this game despite its flaws while I pretty much had to force myself to play fallout 4.

I never said I wasn't having fun. But it's not what I had hoped for I guess.

I'm at the end now, probably one or two missions away, but I did learn about how cool the NG+ is, and how it ties in with the story. It's more than just starting over with a few things carrying over and an increased difficulty. It reminds me of
Nier Automata.
I just had the conversation with the Emissary and Hunter. I guess whoever dies in your campaign is the Emissary? I usually don't care much for NG+ but I'm looking forward to seeing where it all leads from a story perspective

@Dizzy without giving too much away in spoilers, what's the NG+ like with AC VI? I hear it's much more than the typical Souls NG.

Ohh fuck man, I totally read your post wrong, I thought you were talking about choosing who to save, as it also pertains to the eye.

I'm sooooooooooooooo sorry, I hate being one to give away any spoilers. If it's any consolation, things aren't exactly as they appear.

That’s fair. In my case I didn’t really know what to expect from this game, I was just expecting fallout or Skyrim in space and in most cases it’s delivered for me on that assumption. So far for me my biggest complaint is the companions. Very vanilla in that regard.

No no it's fine I don't mind spoilers lol

I read about the Eye so I knew what happens, I just wondered if you could go in a relationship with Andreja if Sarah dies

It’s pretty rad. You can still go through and play any mission you’ve already beat but it starts you off with a completely fresh story. It’s the same initially and then you start getting presented with alternate paths and completely new missions/encounters/bosses.

I'm glad to hear that. Her death was pretty shocking. It would have been worse for me if it was Andreja, as I really like her character. Sarah is kind of annoying, but dat ass lol

I'm curious to how it will play out for you seeing that you actually married her. Sarah and I were official but Andreja didn't seem to mind my flirting with her, well before Sarah died.

There's a funeral scene a few in-game days after her death. I'm curious if anyone will have special dialogue for you, being married and all. You get to keep Sarah's belongings. I put her outfit on Andreja for a while. In a way I was still taking Sarah to bed lol, but it felt wrong so I took it off her.
