Honestly, I'm a bit surprised by how little rancor there is.

i liked tfa. so i reckon abrams is a good thing

Abrams is a good thing but I feel like the story has been trashed so hard I'm not sure I care anymore. TFA was passable but played it way to safe and felt like a remake of episode 4 in a lot of ways. Also the ending was dumb.

I bet you liked the following scenes:
- Luke drinking milk from alien tits and then having eye contact with Rey
Showed the rustic way he was living

- you cheered for Rey as he kicked Luke's ass even if she has 0 training
Rey was an elite staff fighter... but watch it again... Luke still kicked her ass... & took her stick away... she just called in the lightsaber. I'm sure Luke could've still handled her even then, but she wasn't even threatening his life... she was trying to get answers.
- you laughed when Finn got tased by Rose Tico
Caught him by surprise. You're really stretching thinking some of these things are plot holes.

- you found it awesome that an x wing was able to take on a dreadnought while the enemies were just watching, then suddenly their bombers were already so close! You also laughed at Poe's jokes at the beginning right? wow so funny jokes hahaha
They all just rolled in from Hyperspace & were un-organized for a direct attack. The only thing they would've been able to do from the other ships would be to fire at the Dreadnaught themselves. Makes a lot more sense to let out a bunch of Tie's.

I had no problem with the humor. I did laugh in the theater. You're way to serious if you didn't think that was funny.

- you found it logical that the purple haired bitch wasn't telling her plan right? and she expected everyone to be fine with it while they're all being killed?
She was on someone elses ship with someone elses crew.... No way she could trust that someone there wasn't a traitor who would give up the plan.

Don't look now smartass, but it is exactly the fact that someone else knew the plan that got them found out. Who was that person who told DJ the plan? Fooking POE!!!

- you also liked that low speed space ship chase? 45
? What? That was just a backdrop... but they were going at the full speed of a Resurgent class Star Destroyer. Maintaining Fuel Cell inventory are a major part of many stories across the Galaxy. they were low on them atm... it's not that hard to understand.

CbDUQae.gif

They were not a Republic military... they were a Rebel group operating in secret. Keep in mind that there was 30 yrs of peace & the First Order came out guns blazing like yesterday. I find it completely reasonable that they weren't 100% ready & fully fueled up.

- you think it was awesome that Snoke didn't even feel the sword moving next to him right? and that he died just like that?
There's more to the Snoke story. We're only 2/3rds through the movie.

- you loved hologram Luke which died anyway? 45
I got no problem with it. Would've liked to have seen him in the next movie alive, but we're either getting force ghost Luke or flashbacks... All good.

- you fell in love when rose tico saved finn? And made that nonsense comment about saving people while she put everyone in danger? You also like the fact that they were kissing and the enemy pretty much just ignored them.
I'll give you that one... but it's inconsequential to the movie. had Rose & Finn stayed in the hanger, the movie would've continued the same.

That's only one problem though... we gotta have a bit of leniency. The Wakanda shield giving way to multiple dog attacks was f*cking stupid... so was the fact that they pick their supreme leader by a fist fight... lol... at them being the most advanced civilization on earth. Cringy stuff... but I still loved both movies just as I do TLJ all dozen time or so that I've seen it.

There's a lot more scenes that i'm sure you loved, like the Canto Bight where they were in trouble because they didn't park properly. Wow so funny am i right?
So what? Like I said, you're just knitpicking. It's perfectly reasonable they would be contained till they could be properly questioned &/or processed by a society that very likely is run by thugs in an underground mob situation. Canto Bight ain't exactly like a US citizen getting a parking ticket. They were trespassing on mob territory.

Yup. I was really enjoying the TFA, got a bit teary eyed in the audience as the nostalgia floored me, taking me back to my childhood.I knew they were going to play it safe, and I was cool with that, so long as they laid some groundwork. I was very cool with Rey too, as we already had Luke, Anakin, Obi-Wan and Kyle Katarn as Jedi leads. I loved Ahsoka, so I was ready for a female Jedi/movie lead until Rey slowly kept winning because.... vagina? When she bested Kylo I remember thinking
tenor.gif

It deflated Kylo instantly, and took away heavily from Rey's potential arc. I remember posting on Facebook about how I enjoyed the film, but had issues with Rey being so awesome at everything. A buddy of mine chimed in saying she's probably a powerful Jedi as well, maybe Kylo's brother, who had her mind wiped, and I was once again cool with things, but trepidatious.

Then this clown happened

and all our fears about identity politics from this clown were obvious.

Star Wars was just another victim of the culture war and the catalyst behind a new meme

Let's see if JJ can right the ship. Even though I have little faith in him, I'm pulling for him. Who doesn't like an underdog story? How the fuck is anything Star Wars related an underdog story though? What a mad world

I'm cheering for the first order. Having those rebels take power wouldn't make things better lol. The way they also just completely ignored the Senate and things like that, idk man. Idk.

Why don't they just make a movie based off the Old Republic and start a series with that? That timeline has some real interesting stories.

That guy will always be Llewyn Davis to me, and Kylo Ren will always be Cowboy Al Cody.

Oscar Isaac: "Hey, look, I'm happy for the gig but...who wrote this?"

Rian Johnson: "I did."

If you're saying Isaac isn't that bad, I agree. I kind of think he's doing about as well as he can with his pointless character. He seems like a cool person, actually, and he has some talent. Does he look stupid in these movies? Yes lol. Not all his fault.

He was great in that scene from Llewyn Davis. He's a good actor, but he chooses some junk projects.

He's not even close to a problem worth worrying about in Star Wars. He's delivering the stuff on the page the best he can. He didn't write Poe's "learn how to listen to wimmen" arc, and he did a good job of pulling the audience on board as he was mutinying.

He didn't write lines like "not what I was expecting" so the movie could comment on an admiral being a woman in a cocktail dress. How else was he supposed to deliver that...

Another gem:

I say to the executives at Disney, “Really? Han Solo five months after our movie? Give it a rest!” They say, well, we have to keep the schedule clear for Mary Poppins.’ He feigns outrage. ‘But I can be mouthy, because you know, what are they gonna do, fire me?

Compilation of Rian Johnson proving he doesn't get SW and didn't care to explore what JJ Abrams set up:

Paraphrased:

"Luke only mourned Obi-Wan for a few seconds in ANH. Then he's all Woohoo! In Star Wars there's no tine for grief, it's just go go go!" - on why he cut the 30 second scene of Luke mourning Han.

"OMG Empire would have gotten ROASTED. If you look at the criticism of TLJ, can you IMAGINE how fans would have reacted to Luke getting his ass handed to him by Vader? Han going down without a fight?" -on how Empire Strikes Back would have been received if social media was around back then

"SW to me has always been about the transition from adolescence to adulthood" - from the TLJ documentary, commenting on Kylo's whiny behavior

"Luke's behavior in TLJ is 100% consistent with his behavior in the OT" - response to criticism on twitter

"I didn't put Lando in the film because I don't think audiences would buy that he could betray Rose and Finn" - basically saying he can't write for shit

"I was writing TLJ before TFA started production, so it's not like I was reading all these theories about Snoke being Darth Plageius and deying that. For me, it's a question I didn't care about..because I didn't think the character of Rey would care who Snoke is. I didn't think it would make sense to take the viewer out of the movie for a long time by having him explain to Rey his entire backstory" - on why there was no explanation about who is Snoke is

Rian's such a fucking idiot, which makes Kathleen Kennedy worse for greenlighting this moron's work. I'm annoyed that JJ never planned on making/writing another film in the trilogy he started, but it all falls on KK's shoulders for not adhering to continuity/lore.

Hopefully JJ was able to retcon some things from TLJ and close the story really well, which is normally a rarity for him. I really don't care about the story anymore, my curiosity is more to see if JJ can actually fix things.

The "JJ vs. Rian Rap Battle Saga", not the "Skywalker Saga"

It will go in a new direction probably.

I bet there's a new big bad villain that Rey and Kylo have to team up against, rendering what TLJ set up (Kylo the new big boss) useless.

It will start with a large rebel force. Reinforcing how pointless the decimation of nearly the entire Resistance was in TLJ.

There will probably be a flashback scene with Luke, Han, and Leia together. Probably using some editing and old unused TFA footage.

But no matter what they do with Kylo, it won't be received well. If he turns to the light side and redeems himself, people will think it's Diet Anakin. It he doesn't...then the Skywalker bloodline lasted only a few generations and 4 people....2 of them turned to the dark side, 1 of them just gave up and abandoned the good guys for 10 years.

I told my family to watch this instead of TLJ to save them 2 hours and 30 minutes:

He's the main character in the original series that's a pretty big deal. He hasn't allowed fame to get to his head. He is simply not pleased where the story is going and didn't think the fans would like, he's been proven right. Cool any actor who voiced honest and correct opinions would be kicked out what's your point? That actors who are right should just let the movie they are in fail without even attempting to say anything?

Yes, he was the main character, but Star Wars is not just about Luke. This trilogy especially is not just about Luke. Sure, they wanted to score some cheap points with him (and Han and Leia) in the story so they did just that.

Don't get me wrong, he has some points, but he wanted more of a story arc for himself. Not for the SW universe. For and actor to actively meddle in the story and the direction a movie is going is never right IMO. Screenwriters and directors are there for a reason.

Mark has said many positive things about TLJ & TFA's as well. You probably overlooked them though because you just feed on the venom.

Don't get me wrong... I've chatted with you & see that you have some common sense in there somewhere, but you are a slave to the venom when it comes to the new SW's, & you can't quit it. You & your buddies snowball it to a frenzy to where you make up all kind of exaggerated points of view.

All your doing here is questioning me for calling it like it is.

You not recognizing the positive things Mark has said about the new SW's is a testament to how far you've let yourself go into the dark side.

Most of the positive things mark says is he walking back a few steps to tow a line or as to not overly offend those of the new star wars movies.

You see him do this plenty of times in unedited interviews and the like.

With all hes ever said, i think its fairly clear that he doesnt like hollywoods current model of making films. He feels they are no longer art or made to take chances. They are crap designed to make income and thats it.

Showed the rustic way he was living
