Finn was solely motivated by Rey at the beginning of TLJ. Through Rose and DJ he decides to commit to a "greater good" but maintains a fatalistic perspective that needed to be kept in check by Rose and Poe. DJ was less concerned.

They also just nonchalantly shuffle between calling themselves "the first order, empire, rebels and resistance," so it's totally jarring. It's like the writers aren't even sure what they're writing and nobody is proofreading. It's just a strange mess.Well I mean Snoke and The First Order are just kind of there. They make little effort to really explain where they're from, how they became such a big threat. Just a few flashbacks of Snoke organizing them, meeting Luke, manipulating Kylo when he was lukes protege, would have gone a long way. As it is the movie relies on these relationships for the payoff to mean anything, but shows us very little onscreen to make us care.
Everyone knows that waz Tag dressed up in Bobba Fett's armor while Bink accidentally shot Luke in the hand while dressed up as LandoBoba is the man, quiet confidence, just hate the way he went out !

Oh shit, forgot about Tag!!!Everyone knows that waz Tag dressed up in Bobba Fett's armor while Bink accidentally shot Luke in the hand while dressed up as Lando

He’s passionate! Nothing wrong with thatYou don't have to reply to every post in this thread. Stop being so insecure, ya weirdo.
lol... you do just spew the first thing that pops into your head don't you. That's because you no nothing about movies
Well the line from Vader establishes he's the most dangerous and reckless of the bounty hunters that have been gathered. What really makes him badass for me is how he lets his ship hang powered down in the trash heap in order to track the Falcon, and how he's the only person aside from the Emperor who doesn't seem afraid of Vader. If not for Boba Han and Leia would have been safe on Bespin and Luke could have finished his training with Yoda, never lost his hand. He had a real effect on the narrative.Hay I get it, all it takes is a line from Vader to establish his bad ass-ness! Maybe if they wrote a line for phasma then people would accept her better.

I wanted to see Luke take out large mechanical things with a light sword
He'll be dropping by yo momma's tonight then!I wanted to see Luke take out large mechanical things with a light sword
It might entertain you to know that I've pretty much only replied to everything someone quoted me on since I got here today. My buddy Evz being the exception but he's not a bully like you are.You don't have to reply to every post in this thread. Stop being so insecure, ya weirdo.
You initiated the exchange by calling me "sad" and now you're playing the victim role? I never addressed you. Straight on fight scene, ya that was bad! On film! I know you said you don’t read the books but Finn is a beast while going through Imperial training. Boba’s death must’ve made you furious! Hit in the back by a blind guy! I fuckjng hated that !Well the line from Vader establishes he's the most dangerous and reckless of the bounty hunters that have been gathered. They clearly tried to set us Phasma as the female Fett. In the early parts of Force Awakens she was used somewhat effectively as the hard ass commander, but she gets squandered in the last act for the sake of a trash compactor joke (curse you Jar Jar Abrams you hack!) and her part in Last Jedi is just awful, being in the worst fight scene in the franchise.
We actually got no backstory on the emperor or any of that in the first trilogy till 2 decadez later when the sequels came out. You don't need it. You know all you need to know when they show up with all this fire power.Well I mean Snoke and The First Order are just kind of there. They make little effort to really explain where they're from, how they became such a big threat. You're ITT saying it doesn't matter or effect the quality of a film if important information is actually in the movie or if audiences have to read about it on the internet....lol... you do just spew the first thing that pops into your head don't you.
I wouldn't get so tired of educating casuals such as yourself if you would start appreciating the things I tell you. Bull shit like this is what makes me not even want to come in here.
There's 2 ways I think they will go on the larger more general scale of things. The New Republic & the First Order engage in a war that lasts all the way through Ep. 9... in which there would be only a very small jump in the timeline... OR... (& I think "broom kid" at the end was a bit of foreshadowing to show this...) as Ep. 9 begins... The First Order has taken over & has been in control for a decade or so (enough time for Broom kid to grow up & join the Rebellion)
I kind of like the 2nd option because it gives Rey a chance to refine her powers & begin training the next generation. would love 70 yr. old MILF Ahsoka Tano to be in the mix as well.Meanwhile the rebel fleet is secretly re-building.
This gap in time also gives some nice time to see Kylo develop. He could become consumed by the dark side & be a major head case... or he could actually balance out & buy a cool long golden robe or something.
The thing to understand is that neither major force is without military.
According to the novel (or one of those companion books or something)... The First Order has 30 of those battle cruisers that were following the Supremacy... each with 244 Tie fighters & each with a crew of 74,000 people... most of which considered the ship their home. I only counted 6 at the most that took some damage in the hyperspace Raddus missile, but only one for sure... so they have plenty of military & star fleet left.
The New Republic had a small central military & starfleet that was destroyed in the planetary attack in Ep. 7, but that is not the only military the Republic had... so the dire situation the rebels are in does not in any way mean that the Republic cannot defend itself.
Their "centralized government controlled" military & star fleet was scaled down & purposely made very small, in order to avoid another dictator like Palpatine gaining control of it & taking over. To make up for that... every member of the New Republic was responsible for developing a star fleet & miliary & was aided by the government in doing so. Each individual planet would offer defense forces to the government as a whole if needed.
So The New Republic has an outstanding military force... but they're going to have to be able to communicate to use it. The problem we have though is that the communications hub was blown up by that attack in Ep. 7. Pretty brilliant move taking out the communications hub & the small central star fleet with that attack. This puts the First Order in a very unique position of power in which they are organized & ready to strike while the New Republic is basically un-armed until they can rally some starfleet & fighters from all their supporters.
The First Order actually has a lot of senators secretly on their payroll that are all ready to change sides. From there, it's pretty easy to see how the rest could eventually yield as well... especially if the First Order strikes quickly before they re-establish a new communications hub & forces them to comply under new leadership.
Each planet has their own small military & star fleet though... so it might just be one tough fight after the other until the First Order is out of resources... especially if the remaining planets combine their forces as was the intention of this method of military from the beginning.
I think it's important to understand that The Empire was never defeated completely. The war continued on for at least another year after Ep. 6 until the battle of Jakku... at which time there was an agreement called "The Galactic Concordance" where the empire was allowed to keep operating but they were disarmed for the most part & sectioned off. So there have been planets out there who have been a part of the Empire ever since Ep. 3. They changed their name to the First Order, & many people in the New Republic were secretly supporting them.
The First Order was laundering money through some major criminal organiztions to secretly fund the rebuilding of their military force (which was a violation of the Concordance...) so you know some corrupt politicians in the New Republic were getting payola. The first Order used their money to build their fleet in secret for over 30 years & to secretly undermine the New Republic from the inside with corrupt politicians. I just point this out to say that they might get a lot of people immediately siding with them when they try to make a claim to galactic power.
Leia & others warned the New Republic that the First Order was getting strong & they needed to discipline them for doing wrong & prepare to fight them. Nobody believed them nor wanted to stir up more conflict... so Leia developed the rebels & set out to investigate the First order.... but Leia's rebel cell was far from the New Rebublic's entire military. They were never even official to begin with.
So that's where we're at beginning into Ep. 7 & continuing through Ep. 8. I describe all this to make some points about the political structure of everything. It's not beyond reason to feel that the Empire could take back over & it could be accepted. They don't necessarily have to rule under an iron fist.
A lot of people didn't know the evils of Sidious & the Empire... & didn't care anything about the war or governments or whatever was happening. Many didn't even believe Jedi existed... & that the whole thing was a myth.
The novels showed that some planets were worse off after the Empire got reduced to the First Order. One representative of a planet went to the New Republic & said that the Empire was cruel but at least they kept them protected & they had food & water . Now pirates are moving in & people are suffering. This was right after Ep. 6, so things might of gotten better, but at the time, The Republic didn't have the man power to help after the Empire was removed... & so some people suffered under the good intentions of the New Republic's rule.
Just saying that not everyone is going to care whether they got the New Republic or the First Order policing things. So it might not be as hard as you think for them to take over & maintain their rule.
How do the band of Rebels respond & what do they do? If it's an immediate war, then the Rebels become the leaders of it & scramble to rally their supporters around the galaxy. If the First Order quickly takes over & the Rebels are made to hide for a long time to re-build, then you can imagine that they will have to infiltrate the First Order at some point & Rey would obviously be heading up that effort. Perhaps teh Rebels align with certain planets who have secret militarys that the First Order has not disbanned & so the rebels organize with them for a big strike. There are a lot of possibilities.
I expect some interesting interactions with Rey & Kylo however it plays out... especially now that they have that psychic connection.
Ep. 8 was mostly dedicated to nixing the Jedi & Sith religions for a more balanced "non-religious" understanding of the force... so it will be interesting to see how that plays out... & what cool philosophical tidbits they present.
It hit home for me on first viewing.
I don't get this at all. I went into TFA with no prior outside Canon knowledge & I felt their power. I didn't need the backstory.
I didn't need the back story to Thanos rolling up & beating the sh*t out of Hulk. I was just like... "okay... this dude is a bad ass." That's all you really need to know. I mean once they wiped out those planets & showed that they're moving in... you then have all you need to know. It was only after watching that movie that I started looking into the new modern Canon.
I didn't get that at all. The leader was Snoke.... & the new leader is Kylo who's a disturbed psychopath now in control of the biggest military force in the galaxy. Soundz like the makingz of a pretty sweet conclusion to me.
I've been asked this so many times that I just made an "all inclusive" essay about it & so I will link you to that here.
http://forums.sherdog.com/posts/141603485/
It's pretty in depth & brings in a lot of Canon that's not in the movie... & so anyone who doesn't spend a lot of time with "non-movie" stuff can be streamlined by taking a bit of time to read this.
Hmm... you're gonna have to show me that... I don't recall it.You initiated the exchange by calling me "sad" and now you're playing the victim role? I never addressed you. Like I said, stop being insecure.
His Imperial janitorial training? JKStraight on fight scene, ya that was bad! On film! I know you said you don’t read the books but Finn is a beast while going through Imperial training. Boba’s death must’ve made you furious! Hit in the back by a blind guy! I fuckjng hated that !
You just said it 20 minutes ago. I'm going to stop conversing with you because there's something seriously wrong with you. Your obsessive replies are already a red flag, but forgetting what you said 20 minutes ago just seems a little too crazy for me. Bye.Hmm... you're gonna have to show me that... I don't recall it.
I wouldn't put it past me since we've had plenty of past discussions & that seems pretty realistic, but I don't recall saying that today. Not in the context you're describing anyway.
Somebody yelled "you have to fuckin kidding me" in the theater I was at when they showed the broom kid at the end.Your all inclusive essay, is primarily your understanding of left out backstory , and has almost no reference to the question “what are you excited about and looking forward too after TLJ??”
I can only gleam that you look forward to a 10+ year time jump with broom kid , which luckily for you I’m sure will be Rians trilogy, if he is still allowed to make it now.
To me broom kid felt primarily like an advertisement for Rians trilogy.
“Remember broom kid from TLJ? Now he has his own trilogy, Rians very own “Luke Skywalker, in theaters this Christmas “
Leaving JJ’s Force awakens we had all kinds of shit we were pondering and talking about , drooling for TLJ to come out and raced to the movies to finally answer our questions. Which none of got answered, we were slapped in the face and left with no new questions or anything to really be excited about.
As much as you talk about loving TLJ, and talking it to death defending it like a momma cougar defending her cubs, I would have anticipated much more from you than
“ I hope we get to see a grown up broom kid”
Which isn’t happening, this trilogy is continuous and runs back to back.
Wait around for Rians trilogy if it ever happens now, broom kid is sure to be the main character
