But how did that old man in Jakul got the other part of the map? And who the hell is that man?

TFA, has not aged well imo,

That old man was some force religion follower.. similar to the blind asian monk dude in Rogue One.

He and Luke basically shared some of the force teachings and like him he was interested in ancient Jedi relics.

I could go all Lor San Tekka and Chirrut Îmwe on you but let's keep it casual. :D

I wonder if in the novelization it mentioned what's that man's connection to Luke and why would Luke entrust him with that map.

A legendary traveler and explorer, Lor San Tekka (the old guy) was a longtime ally of the New Republic and the Resistance. After the Battle of Endor, San Tekka helped Luke Skywalker recover secret Jedi lore that the Empire had tried to erase.

He then retired to live simply on Jakku, where he followed the dictates of the once-forbidden Church of the Force. Leia Organa sent Poe Dameron in search of San Tekka, who gave him a portion of a map revealing Luke’s planet of exile. San Tekka was then killed by Kylo Ren, who sought the same information.

One thing that's been annoying in these conversations, is the constant assertion that the people that don't like the movie are some tiny but vocal group of "haters"

No. The movie has an audience score of 46% on rotten tomatoes. That is abysmal. A lot of reviewers in both the movie and game industries are paid shills now, so audience scores and independent YouTube reviews are more important than ever. This movie is a turkey that a lot of the audience HATED, and THAT is why audience scores are low and the movie had a HUGE drop off in ticket sales right away.

That's part of the discussion. While your "group" is being called haters I specifically have been called some hateful names so it's not like we're all innocent on both sides. I believe if you don't feel a given label applies to you, then you take your risk entertaining the notion. There's no reason to take any of it personally.

I'm the opposite. I was going to say "weirdly the opposite," but it's normal for me to rewatch films ad nauseum. I grew to appreciate TFA for what it was after initially nearly despising it as empty and poorly told. After a few efforts I came to enjoy it for a colorful romp with some nice little moments.

Oh I see, that is a good one.

Now speaking of Chirrut Imwei. I have just this cheap idea about Rogue Man. Let me say first that I love that film and how it ended.

But I am also thinking what if the ending was a bit different and the characters where altered a bit lets just say that Chirrut has real force powers thru just being force sensitive and diligent in studying the force but having not received proper training its not as polish as Luke or Vader.

Lets just he can lift some few rocks and some mind tricks or even use a light saber he got from a long dead Jedi. And now instead of being killed all by the empire troopers, Jyn,Cassian and Chirrut manage to get into the Cruiser and get into the hallway to Tantive IV while being chased by Darth Vader and Chirrut with his knowledge of the force decides to be left behind to face Vader and delay him so Jyn and Cassian can escape.

Now for this to work it should be heavily implied by the writing and acting that Chirrut will put a good fight enough for Vader to be delayed and give Jyn Erso and Casian time to escape but instead the audience along with Chirrut and company will come to the realization that a wannabee Jedi even if talented and naturally force sensitive is no matched with a well trained angry Sith like Vader. And Vader just force pulls him like nothing and gets decapitated instantly and so Jyn and Cassian gets cut in half too!

It would like a Tragedy and establish how really evil and strong Vader is.

Have to say, I'm not a fan of people bringing personal insults into every argument in every subforum. All I can do is put people on ignore and be accountable for my own behavior. That and just flat out avoid certain forums here. You're right that people should be able to disagree without acting like children.

This I don't engage discussions with people who are quick on the insults like it wins them a bigger pennis if they do that. I also mostly don't interact with people with extreme beliefs and ideologies.

If I want to get into an insult fest I will post in Youtube!

Him facing Vader was my own go to after all those trailers to be honest.. space martial arts and Vader .. I was sure this would be the climax.

Now thinking more practical even if we give him some lesser force powers like you suggested is that we underestimate Vader in all of this, that dude was special and very powerful in fact so powerful that he is still top ranked even after being reduced to a head with a torso, if that dude was complete he would have killed the Emperor a long time ago.

So powers of the level of top ranked characters like Vader, Palp, Snoke, Luke, Rey, Kylo, Yoda, Mace you kinda have to have them innate on an already high level, you can't train to be in that league you either have it or don't. Yes you can expand on them with age and more practice and research but you don't go from maybe I have some force 'luck' and can move a rock to then fighting someones of Vader's pedigree.

If someone doesn't have the force (even in a lower capacity) they stand no chance vs high level users they will just choke or fry you from the get go.

Sometimes the high road that pisses me off, that people get away with saying whatever but etiquette dictates we ignore rudeness and it's hard to ignore that initial impulse to destroy. I have to remember dominance behavior doesn't really extend to online conversation. Heck, it barely leaves self-perception.

I try to compose responses to be taken multiple ways, and if you want to join the humor it can be a pretty okay time, if digressive. If you want to control the conversation through censorship, that's no fun for anyone. But at the end of things: no one's feelings should be seriously trampled, and if someone has the courage to admit their feelings with grace it should be readily appreciated.

A lot of people here have this attitude of well your point was WRONG, so now I'm going to insult you in every way possible. And then these same people act like they're interested in scholarly debate. You shouldn't immediately escalate to insults because you dislike someone's source or opinion.

Frankly I suspect people like that are impotent, frustrated cowards irl. They know other men will beat the shit out of them for talking like that irl, so they do it online where people can't put hands on them. Cowardly.

I flat out don't believe in the concept of an online persona and I think altering your behavior purely because there is no fear of consequence is cowardly and shows a lack of character.

I am myself for better or worse everywhere I go and in everything I do in life. Including posting under my first name here. I've never said anything on these forums that I wouldn't have the guts to say to a man's face, but that seems to be the exception rather than the rule online.

Yup that's what I am thinking as well those Siths and Jedi's you mentioned are like the GOAT contenders of their time.

That is why when fucking Mace Windu killed Jengo Fett just like that I was not disappointed at all. Its the prime era for the Jedi after all I also want to think that Mace Windu is more powerful than Luke Skywalker in return of the Jedi.

Heck George Lucas even said that Mace did in fact beat Darth fucking Sidious.

In Episode three after Palps said " I am the Senate" I am really getting excited inside the Cinema seeing Mace in action in Ep2 I knew he will be the one to fight Sidious! I was like oh shit this is gonna be good.

And then Palps pulls his Red Light Saber!

In the Original trilogy we only saw Palps use Force lightning not a Saber so I was really excited to see him in combat!

I am in some ways suspicious about people acting very rude or showing sociopath behavior online, you have to think those bad posters are like that because they don't fear the consequences and so I begin to question their morality.

I am suspicious because if these same people have that mindset I see them as they type that would go on murder or rape spree if law and order collapses in our society.

I don't go past the "oh they're trolling" notion. I figure people have reasons for doing whatever, however they do. Just because I don't agree with those reasons is not enough for me to lower myself. But I do grasp the nature of theater, so there's also that I need to consider.

I'm a little different but the same.

I myself believe people carry their pretensions wherever they go, including real life. Whenever anyone makes a declaration about themselves, I always wonder to whom they are reinforcing such sensibilities.

Yeah I don't trust anyone who's behavior is dictated by fear of consequences rather than their own sense of morality. It generally never occurs to me to be incredibly rude to someone trying to have a casual conversation with me. Some people act like there are different rules for every situation you're in. I disagree wrong behavior is wrong behavior, being able to hide behind a screen name doesn't suddenly make it right.

That's why people like you and me get along so well.

Good point, one thing I've learned is you are what you say you are. If you have any integrity, making declarative statements makes you want to live up to them, to be the man you claim you are. Such passive reinforcement is a key to me maintaining my sense of honor and I think a lot of people are the same.
