STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI

If you have seen STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI, how would you rate it?

EVer wonder, if in a different situation like say the movies were released chronologically instead of the way they did if the new hope would have received some of the same complaints?

In the prequels Obi Wan was pretty much a bad ass, beat maul and anakin.

So along comes new hope, we get Vader’s son all whinny, and Obi Wan doesn’t do shit. Let’s vader kill him for no reason.

Actually there was a reason, he did it so luke and han etc wouldn’t stand around waiting on him but would jump in the falcon and haul ass

We see the same with last Jedi.

Luke sacrifices himself to buy them time, Finn wants to run out there and fight with him , Poe says no he’s buying us time and they escape.

When you really think about it , from a certain point of view, rian didn’t go off on his own, he copied shit from hope and empire.

In empire vader wants luke to join him, defeat the emperor and rule together.

Kylo kills snoke, and asks rey to join him to rule together.

So, from a certain point of view he wasn’t original at all.

In a way, I kind of feel bad for Rian. I liked Looper a lot and had high really high hopes for TLJ. Having said that, as much as JJ kind of stitched him up, he didn't stitch him up that badly. You also have to wonder how much Disney was in his ear making him put stuff in that he didn't want in there. Visually, I felt it was amazing.

I suppose it ultimately comes down to the fact that if they didn't go into this trilogy with a clear plan for all three movies, it was going to be a clusterfuck no matter what. Should have had one writer and three directors or ideally one writer and one director.

The biggest problem with that Is jj had a plan for all three, rian threw it out the window and cuked everyone.

No way. Empire is still the best looking Star Wars film followed by Rogue One.

If you think Obi Wan let Vader kill him for no reason, you really don't understand what happened there. Obi Wan never even died, he transcended the Force and let everyone know how powerful the Jedi had become. He cheated death.

Rogue One was not a good movie; it was a blatant tent pole that needlessly expanded on, what was essentially a footnote in the Star Wars universe.

When you go into a movie with a predetermined conclusion; everybody dies, then the job of the movie is to make us give a shit about the characters. They did a bad job at that as most of the characters were bland and when, one-by-one, the characters make their individual "sacrifices" there is no emotional weight to it, especially considering that a lot of them die under really stupid circumstances.

If not for Darth Vader and Leia being forced into scenes, you could be forgiven for forgetting that it was even a Star Wars movie at all. Wanna talk fan boys and ruining the series? I present to you all the marks who will swallow up all the tent pole, filler episodes.

What was so great about Rogue One and why was it such a integral inclusion into the Star Wars cinematic universe?

Rogue One is loose film tie-in video game material, like Shadows of the Empire on N64.

I like ROGUE ONE but it curiously escapes the "SJW-agenda" pejorative despite also being a female-led team of shoehorned minority players. People have said Jyn Erso is a better character than Rey but for the life of me I can't really understand how much better. Maybe because they all die, and that's how you like your women and people of color.

I tend to believe ROGUE ONE's appeal lies chiefly in being steeped in all the old shit. It's super safe.

Is everyone dying predetermined? even if it were that certainly doesn't mean you can't have strong drama which I think it did.

I would say just the opposite, this is the first film since the originals that actually feels like STarwars. The prequels and the sequels had references to the originals of course but in terms of their style/tone they did not feel the same to me where as Rogue One captured the atmosphere and the tone of the originals far better.

Bottom line, this isn't a delightful movie and a pile of shit on the path to greatness.

The producers must find a way to bring back the fans, the ones that have been going to conventions, buying toys, spending all their time and money on something that doesn't exist. They have to address the demands to turn the tide while not pissing off the 10% that loved this direction.

They do that, all is forgiven.

Now, ignore the last Jedi and just re do that movie.
