I do agree with Hammill on this. Luke would never go in that house to kill his nephew period. That was so unbelievable to me.
he didn't go in there to kill him. He got shocked at the level of dark he saw while he was reading his mind & he over-reacted in the moment. Then changed his mind... but too late.

I was thinking about giving it a second go around with a friend who hasn’t seen it but I don’t know if it’s worth it. I kind of don’t want to support this movie as I feel like they didn’t try at all and released a piece of crap that they know will sell because it’s Star Wars. I’d rather watch Shape of Water or something.

I appreciated it more on 2nd viewing.

And I think he was just using his lightsaber as a nightlight. It was pretty dark in that hut after all.

I kid of course.

Forget about Star Wars, this was objectively a bad movie. What part of the pacing, script, structure or even comedy was remotely good?

If this was a stand-alone movie it would have been a Box Office failure.

How a company like Disney fuck up something back to back (both movies) with all that money is mind blowing.

This isn't true. I saw this movie with a couple star wars novices, and without having heightened expectations, they liked it very much. Critics were not completely wrong, they just were not completely right.

I don't believe he would have done that either. Basically IMO it was horrible writing. None of the other older Jedi's we saw would have had that sort of quick unthinking reaction. Luke at that point should have been a well trained and seasoned Jedi. Add to the fact that it's his own nephew..just not believable.

He saved his own dad from the dark side who was much deeper than Kylo will ever be, yet he's willing to kill him right there and then?

Yes flying Leia will be remembered as a milestone in cinematic history. Tell the novices to get their heads out of their asses

Also, that wasn't the first time he recognized the dark in Kylo... so he's had time to sort out his thoughts. If they were going to write it that way... they should've revealed that Snoke actually took Luke's mind in that moment & caused the whole confusion.

Like when Snoke had Rey hovering & was in her head... Rey turns it on him & reveals the truth that Snoke manipulated the situation to make that happen.

Anywayz... it didn't go down that way... but it might not be too late for them to sneak something like that into the novelization.

Yea that would have been better. Maybe even have Luke think about doing it and have Kylo read his mind seeing that Luke actually thought about it for a second. Pulling the saber out though and all that was to much I'm willing to entertain that Luke would have a quick thought of maybe doing it for a split second but that's about it.

Dude, it's comic book shit. She has some force potential, and it's all fake and ridiculous if you didn't notice.. Maybe your head is more covered than ass than theirs.. Maybe taking these movies so seriously is ass.

I was mad when I first saw it as well at some things. Still think they missed multiple opportunities to make this a 9/10, like the critics thought, instead of a 6-7.5 Like I believe it was.

Leia has more than "some force potential" she should be nearly as powerful as Luke. At least that's how they made it seem in the original movies. I wasn't shocked to see that at all and I was fine with that part. Kind of surprised how many people were pissed about that.

Dont think anyone is mad about her using the force or having powers, moreso the way they did it was super cheesy.

Really cheesy and that I can agree with. They should have had her use her powers some other way. Deflecting the blast or slightly throwing it off trajectory so it makes a small hole but most people still get to escape. Then have her pass out because it takes an immense amount of energy for her to do that.

That's good that you have strong citics about the movie but still recognize it as a 6 - 7.5. I feel like delivering a Star Wars experience to us is pretty much a 7 at the lowest. People get such high hopes for it that it gets a little crazy when they dip to really low scores due to a few plot points they didn't like... or whatever their reasoning is. In the end, they delivered stuff you don't see anywhere else... & I feel their were a bunch of home runs as well.

I haven't worked out my score yet, but I'm definitely north of what you're looking at. I'm still f*cked from Luke's turn... but I'll work it out.

I was really f*cked about Snoke... but then I realized that despite all the speculation... he was never a main character. His only roll was to show how a middle class kid gained control of the biggest military force in the galaxy.... so I'm fine with that. Still working other things about the movie out though.

Be careful what you wish for. Villeneuve gives zero fucks about what people expect from a movie.

That's why he shouldn't handle episode 9 or any of the established characters.

Just give him a freedom to make any kind of interesting movie, as long as it has jedis and star wars stuff.

Im not a fan of any star wars lore but I did play that old republic game when I was a kid, and people online are always harping on about how some of it should be adapted.

@Spoken, Luke by the time of return of the jedi is pretty damn advanced and not really that conflicted. The only time he shows weakness is when he gives in to the dark side when vader threatens to replace him with leia. But luke comes back to his senses quickly, and then refuses the fucking emperor and refuses to give in. His faith in vader paid off. Vader was far more gone then Kylo ren is. Vader spent decades feeding off his anger and regret. Kylo is still young and conflicted. Far from the lost cause vader was. Yet luke just says fuck it im out bitches. Leaving Leia and the republic he fought for behind without any intentions of coming back. I just don't see that as a logical arc. Luke puts it on the line for his friends and family. He faced vader in empire strikes back before he was ready because Leia was in trouble. Luke doesn't run away from a fight. And if he retreats he comes back stronger and with a plan. This old man Luke isn't the luke of return, and what happened between him and Kylo isn't enough for him to write everyone else in his life off.

I'm not as turned off about that scene as a lot of otherz are. I get that the stance she was at might of been a little too "marry poppins" or something... but as far as Jedi being able to manipulate their own body... It's been happening since the first movie with Luke jumping out of the Cryo Chamber. Also catching himself under cloud city in the next movie. You know he didn't fall that far & catch himself without using the force to slow the fall. (Palps could've done the same... but alass there was no antenna to grab.)

Anywayz.... it was actually a visually beautiful scene... & I ain't mad a bit by it.

Was pretty emotional when I thought that was how they were going to kill her off & I was all into it... but to flip it like that where she doesn't actually die blew my mind... so I'm happy about that as well.

Yea I didn't really have an issue with it either other than it did look kind of cheesy.

Zootopia was a kids film.
It actually had a plot and interesting characters. You idiots who defend these movies by being edge-lords and saying "omg its a kids movie lighten up" can kindly shut the fuck up. Yes, a PG-13 "kids movie" where demon demi gods are sliced in half with lazer swords and entire populii are slaughtered.

Get out of here with that garbage
Spoken like a true millennial cuck. Go back to your safe spot, bitchboi, grown folk are talking here.

I'm not mad at Leia having force ability. I just think it could have been handled better. And if she use it in the vacuum of space after being blown out of the bridge, then why can't she use it against storm troopers or to talk to her son? One of the main problems is Rey is over powered. I never really fear she's done for because shes never really bested in combat or injured. there are no stakes. There seems to be no journey here. She just picks up force powers at the whim of the fucking plot needs her too. Luke had to take some L's first before becoming the bad ass he is in Return.
