STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI

After giving the movie some more thought I'm even more upset about how bad it was. Holy hell I just read that there are quite a few people calling this one of the best star wars, some even saying its better than ESB. Are they just trolling? Lemme list just some of the issues with TLJ:


1. horrible plot:
-rebel ship floats through space for around 2 hours of movie time then rebels escape

2. pointless side stories:
-the entire casino part was a waste of time
-Fin and the two pointless characters boarding the Destroyer was a waste of time

3. pointless characters:
-mechanic asian lady
-the code breaker dude
-Phasma (lol at bringing her back to kill her again)
- the king of irrelevancy; Finn

4. Way to much humor:
-is this star wars or guardians of the galaxy?
-so much forced humor that it was hard to even take any parts serious
-Mary Poppins flying Leia lol

5. The movie destroyed any interesting cliffs/ story lines:
-Snoke was a huge can with no story
-nothing interesting about Rey's backstory
-Luke just disappeared
-The rebels and the first order are pretty much depleted so they aren't threatening at all anymore
-the only villain is temper tantrum Kylo who was proven to be inferior to Rey once again (she even had to save him lol)


Overall probably my least favorite star wars ever. The only ones that may be worse are Phantom Menace and Clone Wars (Even the plot of those movies were far better than TLJ though)

See this is how I know this movie , and the whole franchise musta flew over your head lol The casino scene sets up the next movie and the real code breaker. If you are not into Star Wars period , why watch the movie? lol you will; just miss everything

I could easily see them bringing back Snoke. IMO he was one of the most interesting things about TFA. I think there is a strong possibility he is Pleigus or Palpatine and because a lot of people had already guessed his origins, Ryin might have been instructed to do some misdirection by killing him.

With that said, Snoke is possibly be the most powerful sith we have seen. It seems unlikely how he was killed so casually. Even when he gets cut in half, he dies with no expression at all. No dialogue. Just crumbles over and instantly dead. I think he might have expected Kylo to betray him, as sith apprentices typically do, and even pushed him to betray him in a subtle manner.

Maybe I'm getting my hopes up though...

Yeah this would make more sense imo, and would set up a big bad guy for ep 9. No one cares about Kylo being the main villain, it just doesnt work. Snoke should be Plagiues (as he can pretty much come back to life) fits in with the actual story of the franchise.

Snoke, all fucked up from the get go, quickly bested...and we are all pissed about it.

Has everyone forgotten the talk between palp and anakin about saving folks from death? What if that wasnt bullshit? We dont know anything about this snoke guy, but we know he comes from the same side palp came from, who sang this anti death song.

Plus, ITS DISNEY! It would not only NOT surprise me ges not dead, it would be fitting. SHIT, we know rin isnt all that evil and rey has beat him 2x now. They need a villain.

To think, killing han is forgivable.

I think bringing Snoke back would be a massive mistake. Rian shit the bed but everyone has to sleep in it now.

Doesn't have to be one director, but they need a solid game plan to follow. We've seen successful series with multiple directors; Harry Potter comes to mind, but they had a guideline to follow.

One thing that has become so abundantly clear is that they never had that here. To make matters wore they seem to have given Johnson carte blance to eliminate multiple plot points established in TFA and he didn't replace them with anything. To me that is the most shocking thing of them all. I honestly feel like I've been duped.

Right and because it goes right back to Abrams who is to say where they take the thing. Rian didn't like some of the setups Abrams left with TFA so he closed the doors. And now Abrams is back and has to deal with the closed doors.

There wasn't much foresight and they seem to have a lot of ground to cover to complete the trilogy. The Resistance is literally down to a Millennium Falcon's worth of people and the First Order still has immense resources. Yeah can't tell me that they are going to be able to cohesively explain how the First Order falls without introducing some ridiculous McGuffin or by turning Kylo Ren or by having the silent majority of supposed allies of the Resistance join up and form some heretofore unseen massive army.

I actually disagree as it would make much more sense in the story. One of the most powerful force users we've ever seen, hints that he is someone we know (JJ Abrams says this). If he turned out to be Darth Plagueis that would be awesome(hes been the main villain this whole time behind Palpatine). Then we have the ultimate villain of the entire Star Wars saga on screen in action for the first time and not being stuck with Kylo who isnt going to beat Rey. This would also make a much more interesting arc for Kylo. This would also make episode 8 not be so fucking retarded.

Anyone else think it was completely absurd all the work that went into making the casino scene was barely even used.

I don't understand how they allowed thst to happen. The detail of that scene was intense and labor intensive but you barely saw it. They spent more time in the stables than the casino

Great point. Cause I don't think Johnson and co. had faith in the setpiece or even that element of the storyline. I like Finn as a character but that was pretty much the definition of treading water and giving someone something to do.

The space casino was one of the things I most looked forward to about this new movie.

Those vanity fair pics from earlier in the year had me super interested in that. Unfortunately that plot point was handled without any elegance.

The set was beautiful and it was filled with so many awesome creatures and they made it campy instead of intelligent

As you said, they should have had them spend more time in the casino. It seemed like two minutes of screentime before Finn and Rose got taken to jail and BB8 got tossed out on his ass. Why couldn't they meet the codebreaker in the casino? Maybe Finn has to win some science fiction-y type of card game in order to generate the cash to get the guy on board. There were a bunch of ways you could have gone with it.

I'd argue that bringing people back from the dead, under any circumstance, is very bad writing. Dead should mean dead, IMO. Yes I know that there is some groundwork already laid down here with Plagueis, but then that opens the door to force users being able to cheat death as a plot device and I'm not about that life.

I think they made it pretty clear that Luke sparked the fire and now Rey is going to basically be a propaganda piece to motivate every child to take up their broom and join the fight.

It's more of a powerful sith thing and I get why you wouldn't like that. But I think it would be better than the shit were stuck with now. But id like that, plagueis being the only one with the power to do that. Some regular force user shouldn't have this power only the most ancient force users. A la plagueis. Im just pissing in the wind at this point.
