Star Wars Megathread

I feel that sometimes this is more then just disliking a movie and the article tried to show why on some occasions and have some sort of backing for their conclusions.

I can concede that amidst the population of people who did not like the movie, there will inevitably be 'undesirables' but there is little to no objectivity in that article at the heart of the matter. That the movies were just not good.

Yes big pop culture things / entertainment will have among the mega fandom the occasional outliers 'bad apples' on either side of the fence. The article is saying that in this case it is more then the usual nutjobs.

I do think the article is hamming it up but this is the current climate we are in I can't blame them for a loud statement or outrageous claim that gets them some eyes on their website. It worked for me that I randomly saw it via this guys twitter, I wasn't actively looking for it just the sensationalism of it worked in its advantage and here we are talking about it.

It isn't without value and for a change they got some data / statistical analysis.

The people who didn’t like it seem to break down into different groups

Some people hate the characterization of Luke

Some people hate all Asians

That's fair.

I rewatched TFA again recently to see how I felt and I still legitimately like it. I ardently defended that movie when it first came out and really looked forward to the rest of the sequels.

I recently-ish rewatched the entire new trilogy: TFA, TLJ, TROS and I had fun but I kinda wish they went in a different direction with the last movie.. it is without doubt for me my least favorite out of them. I have hoped it will get stronger with more time going by and watching it all but nope maybe even less.

Yet no regrets, I enjoy it al and I take the bad with the good and for me they knocked it out off the park with cool characters like Rey and Kylo.

I also understand why you liked TFA the most it has this warm feeling like a cozy blanket all star warsy it is good, JJ did well on that one, wished he was just a tad more original for a home run.

No that's where YOU are wrong. It was called a shit movie from the start and YOU couldn't handle it and then carefully devised a conspiracy theory about how anyone who disagreed with your opinions were clearly racist or nazis. The facism rears its ugly head as per usual.

That whole article is written by someone who crafts their whole persona around social justice and as per usual, if you have a differing opinion, you're the problem.
Didn't read the article.

I didn't do any of those things. I addressed many points of contention about the film in earnest, and got disrespected at for it. And I got no problem with handling anything from you pack of little minxes. No problem with accountability, especially foisted by the mistaken and foolish.

I didn't call anyone anything other than a fucking idiot and/or old and out-of-touch -- possibly homosexual and a coprophagic -- but it was clear it was my own platform and not some anti-Nazi screed.

I'm not saying you're "the" problem. I've always said YOU'RE YOUR PROBLEM, JAR JAR PROBLEM!

It's clickbait. Blaming everything on White Supemacy is the flavor of the month. It's a lazy attempt to deflect about the lousy quality of the product by demonizing the consumers, instead of coming to the logical conclusion that it was a rushed mess of a movie.

Solo made almost a billion less than TLJ and was the 1st Star Wars movie to lose money. It came out on the heels of TLJ. I doubt that massive drop off had anything to do with some white supremacy boogie man. $1 billion in white supremacists dollars is a lot. It in actuality probably correlated to TLJ being a garbage movie and people not wanting to waste their money on halfbaked movies.

Maybe I should post an article on people that liked TLJ are strongly tied to :eek::eek::eek:philia. Then just drop an "Interesting Article here". Cause that's about as sensible as what you posted.

That wasn't my intention, It wasn't a jab at anyone just a sensationalized article I run across and figured I would like to hear Wildo's reaction, that's about it.

Yet it is funny that the main SW thread here is so full of strong dislike towards Disney SW that such an article is would I say received poorly by some when it should just be an interesting read even if you don't agree with it and think it is excessive and exaggerated to the point of silliness.

Also heck TLJ is my favorite out of the new trilogy.. If you think you have an angle and data go for it and freelance some of that journalistic prowess.

Last in my opinion Solo was a movie that no one wanted and was released in-between big super heroes movies in a busy season but the core of the problem is it wasn't a smart idea to re-cast Han and fast track this project that no one really asked for. It was a failure from so many angles, possibly my least favorite SW movie so I'm not the guy to stick up for it.

fair enough man,

for what it's worth, I'd bang rose

It's a funny feeling, and not a condescending one either. But I look forward to the moment when TLJ gels with a hater. That moment when a thing clicks is just a divine grace. If anything, I'm almost jealous.

I'm sorry if I came off confrontational. I got nothing against you and think you're a solid poster. I just find articles like that to be distasteful and think they deflect from serious discussions that could be had about SW or the DT/ST. Personally TLJ is my least favorite SW movie, but you are free to like or dislike whatever you want. Personally I think the games and tv shows have had the best SW content since ROTS.

Edit: And yeah I was no fan of Solo either wish they would have let Lord and Miller do their thing.

Don't worry no problem at all. I also think in retrospect I should have put it better then 'blah here link', I just needed a vehicle to insert the link in a word for easy 1 click access because sometimes twitter embeds load buggy for different browsers and phones on this forum.

And yes so far the TV side of SW didn't hit any speed bumps yet I'm afraid for the future in that front with so many projects it is inevitable that we will find a fumble (here is looking at you Cassian show, again Solo vibes who asked for this, why are they making it and why did they fire the showrunner that used to do The Americans my only ray of hope in that project).

PS: Solo still makes me shake my head when I randomly see it on cable just because of their choice to light it so poorly.
I'm not exaggerating I always have to mess with my TV settings cause I can't stand that constant murky shade, natural lighting artistic approach my behind, how could no one speak up when they saw the daily footage watch "hey guys how about another spotlight directed at the actors". Reminds me of Alien vs Predator Requiem another 'dark' movie.
