Star Wars Megathread

Yeah I loved that about Xizor. I liked that they went there and added someone like him to the rouges gallery, there was room for a harvard-bully-rapist type villain in Star Wars imo. Leia is a princess and had to have some kind of interaction with sutors and whatever else. Making him a green lizard alien was a nice touch. Gave young minds all sorts of weird visuals about what a green alien boner might do. I bet it had spikes

Damn dude....you're right....no bullshit older me gets it now....he's not a personal favorite, but yeah I get it now.

Book is still 2nd tier, but but yeah, gotta move X up on the villain rankings because he is the only one like that.....

I concede to your point. Much hespect.

That was after you insulted me first. lets be clear about that.

& bad on you for trying to twist that. Teh fook is wrong with you? Do you even realize when you're insulting people? You did it again in this post in this next quote. Are you aware that's an insult?

That's you're opinion. Mine is different. You insulted me on a personal level because of my honest opinion. Don't look now but you continue to do it while calling me "my dude." how about you cut the bullshit & just stop insulting me for my opinion?

I disagree. I feel like all 3 are cohesive as well as them being cohesive with the other 6. I feel like it tied all 9 movies together for a fitting climax.

This is very oversimplified. none of the movies were about any one person. Rey & Kylo would be the head of the first story though.

Palpatine was shoehorned In at the very last minute because the trilogy didn’t gel.

It didn't feel that way to me.

It felt to me like he was masterminding the events the whole time through his minion in order to bring in the final order.

yes but what about snoke
Snoke was Sid's minion that kept the First Order in line... while Sid was preparing not only his own physical situation, & manipulating the events between Rey & Kylo, but his main objective which was building the final order.

Snoke's end game was known to be Kylo's test to kill his master & bring him to the next level. Mission accomplished. They got the first order organized under Snoke & then handed the well oiled machine over to Sid's new apprentice.

It would've worked too if it wasn't for you meddling kids. :D

Yeah I felt it was slapped together haphazardly. None of it gelled
Maybe not for you, but it seems very cohesive to me.

I'm not going to even guess why you feel this way, but I have a theory that a lot of people got this feeling due to the directing handoffs & all the outside stuff that was happening. When I forget about all that stuff & just take in the way the story is told, it all makes sense & gels perfectly.

Sid needed someone over there to build the first order. They would be the sacrificial front line that would take over so that Sid could slide right in & take control. Snoke blew up those 5 planets & did all that bad shit, not poor old sid who got hoodwinked by the corrupt Jedi order. Now he can just slide right into power & everyone will accept him back not fully understanding why those rebels forced the rightful ruler out of power to begin with.

It would've worked too if it wasn't for you meddling kidz.

Have any of you guys ever read the Jedi Academy trilogy from back in the day?

I read it for the first time about a year ago. Its alright, but unless you're planning on reading post-Ep6 EU novel like I am, in order, its probably best to skip these three and just read a summary.

Oh and @Myrddin Wild, I've been busy last night and today. I'll respond to your posts later.
or don't.

I shared he canon information you say doesn't exist with some sherbros of mine today in a PM. Fascinating stuff. I have no need to share it with you.

however, if you ask nicely, I will be happy to let you see the missing information you seek.

Of course I did. Good shit, top tier EU class for me. We finally got Kessel, Luke doing Jedi Master Stuff, Exar fucking Kun, Spider Walkers ( loved them!) and Daala wasn't terrible, and paved the way for Isard.

Good shit, and for a good twist on it, read "I, Jedi" which seasons it even more

I'll take your opinion under not advisement.
lol... no idea what that means, but what I have to show you is not opinion. It isn't even debatable. It is canon indisputable fact.

Oh yeah, btw... I stumbled across something today I haven't seen in years. Have an open mind & listen to this. I time stamped it. Just listen for like 30 seconds. This is KK in Oct. 30, 2012 (the day of the sale) making the same reference to original movie scripts compared to pre-written scripts based on proven books. This time she uses the Harry Potter books/movies as her example the same way she used the GOT guy'z 800 page stories in the article we've been debating.

This is something that works in her mind for her. when she says stuff like that. Again, that's all she was saying in the article we've been discussing. She wasn't dissing the EU or forgetting about it. She was simply making the same comparison she made in this video.

Been avoiding this thread till after watching Mandalorian. Just finished binging it with the wife over the last ten or so days. Fucking great show. I can’t believe something actually made me care about Star Wars again after Rian Johnson and JJ Abrams figuratively killed my mom and raped my dad. Star Wars was completely dead to me after episodes 8 & 9 and Solo. Now I’m just like “I need more Mandalorian!”

It flatlined for me at Episode 7, then they used an AED to ever so slightly revive it with Rogue One (at least enough to get the heart started again anyway). Then 8 & 9 showed up, and they incinerated the fucker.

I watched episode 1 of The Mandalorian. It was good, but I haven't watched anything else. My kids loved the first season, but were Luke Warm  to season two.

Welcome brother. Can we offer any EU to keep your SW fix up?

I’ve got some video games on my PS5 to keep me busy for a while if I feel the need, namely Squadrons, Jedi Fallen Order, and Battlefront 2.

May I suggest the X-Wing Novels series?

Im your pusher....

I think the idea Starwars was some impossible to recreate magic formula was always questionable, it takes skill and respect for the material of course but really I think the reality is both the prequels and sequels are actually massive fuck ups.

The reality for me is Disney had a choice early on, do they take their time and try and build up the sequels well with skilled directors and writters who love the material or do they go for a quick fix, bring in hired hand Abrams and have him spin his nostalgia formula ASAP. After the Force Awakens box office I'm sure they felt they'd made the right call and doubled down on that style but the reality is justa s with Trek nostalgia doesnt last, Abrams had the mother of all nostalgia audiences as even the prequels hadnt really featured many original characters/actors beyond droids and Palpatine.

Beyond good drama really I think Mando shows that the key to Starwars isnt really "lore" its style, the original films don't really fill in the gaps that much in terms of exact details but they don't need to, what matters is the style, the mixture of industrial used future, eastern exotic influences and western style outpost locations. Rogue One I think got that and Mando does as well, maybe making the western/samurai influences even more obvious.
