Star Wars Megathread

The ranks are set in stone initially then if lower numbers are higher rank? What if 4th whatevers leapfrogs 1st whatevers?
Good question, perhaps it's a time thing. First dibs gets authority? Maybe they put them all in a room & figured out what's what, & then they got their ranks that way? I know Sid tasked Vader with training them & I think he killed one & cut another one's hand off to show them he's the alpha & he's not fucking around.... but I could be mistaken on the specifics. However it went down... when vader is the sensei of your dojo... run... run fast... and far away!!!!

Give these thingz a study & let me know what you find. I'm on 12 hour dayz at teh moment & would love to know if they've addressed that, but I don't have the time atm. Remind me later if you can't find anything.

Obi S1E3 briefly mentions how the numbered people can become promoted to Grand, and seems like they all covet the big paycheck of being Grand.

I think Han from Fast & Furious is 5th and he said he's next in line for the Grand seat, not Reva who I think is 3rd or 4th. He even rudely uses the Force to make her bow at the table.

Interesting... so they don't move numbers... but the title of "grand" is up for grabs.

If you can kill the last grand? ...or the current grand gets killed elsewhere and all of them rally for his spot? I'd assume teh later.

Don't know if you're watching the Obi show in realtime, so I won't say much else.

I'm guessing Darth Vader wouldn't want this crew scratching and clawing and killing each other to climb the corporate ladder.

Good looking out.

I had no intention of "stacking" but as it turned out my plate waz so full that I didn't have time to watch it "properly"... & so I stacked teh first 3... (WHICH I'VE NOW SEEN WOOP WOOP!!!!!)

I feel like I could write my version of how this all goes down, but the artistry in putting it on camera and sound, is delightful thusfar & I'm loving it more than a simple post here could say.

Teh question you're asking exactly describes the most basic and ancient code of the Sith. To put your needs over those of others. Only those who are useful in some way are worthy of even giving a second thought. It's written in stone. It's the primary difference between Jedi (who think of others) and the Sith.

Vader waz annoyed that Sid had been training them as an elite squad without his knowledge.

This is how it went down:

Vader'z dealing with a bunch of demandz & tasks and whatever Sid sayz when he blind-sides Vader with his new partners.

Sid asked this rabid beast to train them n stuff... lol. From the Inquisitors pov... Sid showz up un-announced at teh training facility with their new Sensei in tow, & if I remember, one of them died in the effort to question Vader, & another got his hand chopped off before Lord Vader was about to roast their best & brightest...

Point of all this is not only to answer your question about whether Vader would mind his minions scratching & clawing to kill, or even close to the point of their own death... for advancement in his favor.... I'd say that the rabid beast set the precedent.

Lord Vader himself doesn't give AF what they do as long as they stay out of his way... and remain useful to him. He literally has to be contained & reasoned with by Sid in order to not just kill them all just to show he'z the Alpha. (... or maybe he waz just "moody" that day... lol...)

...before becoming much more civilized later on, of coarse. :D

Wouldn't want to work at that corporate office. Not sure I could handle being called 56th brother.

I worked in an office like this where no one's gonna make an effort to train you to become better and potentially replace them. Dog eat dog. But the thing is, your team then is weaker with untrained shitty people who couldn't get good on their own.

Well said. I was a little shortsighted in my explanation. Vader did come around & do what you suggested he do.

Sid convinced Vader that they would be useful in hunting the Jedi... & so Vader did actually flip into their Sensei roll after that first encounter where Sid pissed him off with their very presence.

No more deaths,
<seedat>
but "several" lost limbs in the training ?1?.

Vader taught them the weaknesses he exploits when fighting the Jedi.

The Sith way, is to only hang out with people who are useful to them, & the inquisitor'z report to their Grand Inquisitor, who reports directly to Sid & Vader only.

Consisting of former Jedi[13], the Inquisitors were initially weak in the dark side of the Force and utilized a defensive fighting style. Darth Vader noticed this limitation when he began training them and sought to transform their fighting style to an only offenseive one. The end result was an aggressive fighting style aimed at quickly overpowering surviving Jedi, hampering their concentration and preventing them from falling back on their Force abilities.[6] Among one of of Vader's first training sessions with the Inquisitors included teaching them loss, having expeded several inquisitors of at least one of their limbs.[6][13] Overtime, the Inquisitors became among the most skilled fighters in the galaxy, though were deliberately trained to not surpass the prowess of a Sith Lord.[5]

  • How much legit training would you say Lord Vader gave to the inquisitors... like for how long n stuff?

Seems like Anakin was way more skilled in saber fighting and Darth Vader seems way more clumsy with his bash bash style. Like Frankenstein with light saber.

I started reading one Darth Vader Marvel comic where he gets Boba and Krrsantan to find Luke and some secret Emperor employee some time after A New Hope. I guess I gotta finish that series. The art is way better than Dark Horse.

―The Grand Inquisitor: "The Inquisitors are formidable fighters. They are former Jedi!"

―Lord Vader: "And they fight like it. Defensive. Moving to attack only when there is no other choice. The Jedi taught that a battle could be counted a victory even if both parties survive. This error has infected the Inquisitors' tactics."

My take: Vader taught the Inquisitor's the things in the wookie link below... which is basically a look inside Vader'z helmet. This legit master Jedi who has learned all their "flowy defensive techniques & mindset" created a system of attacks to exploit their defensive techniques. He's choppy in his attacks because it delays their concentration enough that their force abilities can't be focused on as much. It intimidates lesser Jedi, Knights & Padawans.

  • Primarily, an inquisitor's style of attacking emphasized hampering a Jedi's connection to the Force through a rapid blitz of fast and strong lightsaber strikes to open up gaps in an opponent's defenses, broad slashes and sweeps to unbalance an opponent, and rapid parrying counters to force them back on the defensive, which could prevent the Jedi from bringing their full power to bear in a duel. Another notable tactic used by Inquisitors was the usage of taunts in their duels; while useless against more seasoned Jedi Knights and Masters, could psychologically impact the performance of less experienced Jedi Knights and Padawans. Strong emotions, pain, and exhaustion could hamper a Jedi's connection to the Force by making them feel cut off and isolated.[4]

The 9 min Andor special look on Disney+ day was very serious. Didn't watch the making of Obi yet.

Only watched first episode of Tales of the Jedi even though the episodes are super short.

Ahsoka's mom is not ugly, but child endangerment. WTF.

well yeah, he lost most of his limbs, and his body was replaced with basically armor/machinery that constantly causes him harm.

Yaddle should have radio'd for back up. I guess she wasn't the one who rescued Grogu.

Tales of the Jedi was an excellent anthology. I immensely enjoyed each episode. Out of the six, the weakest was the first, but it provided book ends to the series. Dooku’s arc is something I’d like explored more.
