Star Wars Discussion: Obi-Wan vs. Mace Windu

None of the Jedi did.

The only one who did figure it out was Anakin.

I guess all Jedi's are cans.

They're like those TMA who use chi and prove it on demonstrations only to get beat up in a real fight.

I'll still take Obi WON Kenobi, dude was badass with his sword. All Windu did was scream like a little bitch.

Ya cause Kit Fisto and those 2 other scrubs are "Masters" lol... They were barely out of their Jedi diapers. Sidious is still a badass though. Definitely held his own vs. Yoda.

Fisto and those other "scrubs" were on the Jedi council. I assume by "holding his own" you mean he won decisively, then yes.

A true Form III master was considered invincible, and Mace Windu recognizied Kenobi as "the Master of Soresu" ( form III )

I never heard that before. I assumed all Forms had their pros and cons.

Mace rapes him. Mace beat Darth Sidious. He's roughly on par with Yoda. Obi-Wan at no point in his life could take Mace near his peak.

Vader wasn`t ever officially a master but he could have taken on half the council at once and still won. Qui Gonn should have been a master as well, being a master had a lot to do with how well you played politics in the system.

There`s vastly different criteria for being a sith lord than a jedi master. The only Jedi that approached Palps or Dooku were Obi, Anakin, Yoda and Mace. And that`s approach Dooku was 3-1-1 against the 3 of those Jedi he fought.

Edit: Actually Anakin was the only one among ALL the jedi who actually did manage to kill palps and Dooku, all the rest failed. Yet Anakin wasn`t even a master, this highlights my point, being a jedi master doesn`t necassarily mean you`re superpowerful and vice versa.

this had nothing to do with the thread but this clip made me lol

A youtube comment:

I got my mind blown when a friend pointed out the significance of this scene, and the unfortunately awkward reason obi wan has to verbally make it clear- it isn't so much to show it to Vader, but to the audience. This scene is supposed to explain why in Return of the Jedi when Luke backflips onto the scaffolding out of Vader's reach and ergo higher above him, Vader flips his sithspit and violently throws his lightsaber at Luke, because Luke reminds him of this exact scene and it drives Vader in
Pretty cool. I also have always believed that scene was meant to show how much Obi loved Anakin. He's trying to teach him how to beat him even then- even as Anakin is trying to kill him. Obi had made it clear numerous times that Anakin was the greater Jedi than him, and that was true in every way except in inner spiritual peace. Anakin cannot accept his limitations. He cannot accept that sometimes bad things happen that no mortal can control. This is clear from the fight with Dooku. Dooku knocks Obi out, then Anakin destroys Dooku solo. Also, in the wars that we are not shown, Anakin saved Obi's life dozens of times in this way. But Anakin can't let go. Obi is on the run the entire time they're fighting. Finally, seizing opportunity, he grabs the high ground. He tells Anakin, "Stop being so damn proud! Defeat me another day. You can with ease." Anakin won't listen. Hubris ruins him. Some of my friends said that maybe Obi did this explicitly because he knew this was the only way he could defeat Anakin- by provoking his pride- but I think that he still genuinely believed that Anakin could be saved.

Anakin never mastered his fear of what he could not control. If he had, he would have been the greatest Jedi ever.

I think Obi takes this, I know he isn't suppose to be as skilled as Mace, but Obi has a way of rising to the occasion. Also, I think if you piss him off he has this way of actually kind of fighting a bit angry but not losing control of his feelings.

Just my thought.

Samuel Jackson sucks as Mace Windu. Forest Whitaker was a better choice for the role.

this is a no brainer. mace windu would wipe the floor with obi. Round 1 2:30 KO

mace rivaled master yoda. obi got owned twice by dooky head

Mace wtfpwned Palpatine, who only survived due to interference from Anakin. Palpatine then proceeded to lay a beatdown on Yoda.

Therefore Mace > Yoda.

Now, Mace vs Obi is a little more difficult. Anakin did cut Mace's hand off, but it was Palpatine who took advantage and super-tazered his ass out a highrise window. Does that really count for Anakin?

Obiwan then proceeded to completely fuck Anakin up, slicing off most of his limbs and leaving him to burn in lava.

Damn, that's pretty well thought out. Why is it the fans tend to do a better job telling Star Wars stories than Lucas ever did? Yeah, without Lucas, they wouldn't have had anything to work with, but it's shocking how many more times I've read fan fiction than I've seen the actual movies (and I own 'em all).

We don't know if the emperor let mace win to manipulate anakin to join him.
So basically, Mace might not have beaten palpatine either.
