Picard season 3 was relatively amazing when compared to the rest of NuTrek, but comparatively it still wasn't great when compared to real Star Trek (Roddenberry/Berman Trek).

You know, if you went into a sandwich shop and said “hold the onions” and the shop said “we are putting onions on the sandwich anyway. Deal with it.” They probably would never see your business again.

This is exactly what seems to be happening with these shows. These show runners know a large majority of their audience just wants an entertaining show with good characters and storylines. But they are going to give you what they think you should be watching and characters whose only purpose is to fill social quotas.

They have said all along that they wanted to make Academy for the WB type crowd. It's geared towards young adults. Now, visually its stunning, and it has alot of cool throwbacks to trek history. No it is not a traditional Star Trek show. It's about young adults going to college. I hate that they continued with 900 years in the future, after the Burn event from Discovery. The whole premise of the Burn started interesting, but like most things in Kurtzman's era, it wasn't thought out, and the payout was terrible. But that said, I didn't hate the show, which I went in expecting to. That said I give this 2 or 3 seasons. Kurtzman Deal with Paramount Ends this year, and Paramount has stated they want to bring production of shows back under its control. Secret hideout and Bad Robot have had control of the francishe since 2009, but that is all coming to an end.

I've never watched any of the older Star Trek, but I decided to give these 2 episodes a try.

I had to stop in the middle of ep 2 and quickly delete them from my computer.

Discovery definitely had some red flags, but I hold that the first 10 minutes of that (showing the internal debates between the Klingon high houses) was some of the most interesting, philosophically compelling Trek I've ever seen. It totally understood what Trek was always about. The first episode which was more of a movie-- similar to how the remake of Battlestar Galactica launched with a miniseries-- was mostly fantastic. Then it immediately went to shit, due to being woke, and got shittier the longer it lasted.

Conversely, Picard was interesting for at least most of the first season, before plummeting into woke shit in the next season, but it ultimately brought it back in the last season by apologizing for that misstep.

Strange New Worlds was the most promising IP we'd had in a while for the first few seasons, but the last season sucked, and it's not like you can point to it being woke to blame. It was just bad. They had an incredible conceit in the ancient galactic technologically superadvanced prison, and they still blew it.

This one is apparently woke garbage, I haven't seen it, but Nerdrotic is pretty much always right about these things.

it's been obvious for years the kurtzman trek writers were not star trek fans/don't know the lore for shit. There have been countless lore/cannon breaks since the first discovery episode it's insane. How do these people fail upward so hard?
