I was watchign a DS9 episdode where Rom gets married, and Quarke is al pissy and says there was "no bridal auction" at the wedding. LOL do you think those greedy little bastards pimp their wives to the wedding's guests at the wedding?

I would have interpreted that to mean Ferengi men auctioning their daughters away to potential husbands in exchange for big dowries or something.

If so, then why wait until at someone's else's wedding?

I also watched the espide when Sisko and Garek trick the Romulians into the war. Solid. Would have liked more detail on how much damage the Romulians initial attach did.

Both. She became th poster child and was the one featured in magazines and stuff. Mulgrew thought she was just a floozy who got the role because she was banging Brandon Braga(which she was). But she had a great attitude and personality and won over fans and the cast. Mulgrew complained to much of the cast and crew, and called a meeting with everyone and tried to get them to fire Jeri Ryan. No one sided with her, and it caused quite a bit of tension.
Haha, that's great. Mulgrew sounds closer to Janeway than I might have guessed.

Finally finished Enterprise and the last 2 seasons really delivered. I actually miss it now. I guess the Netflix revival never came to anything?

That was one of the early shows that Netflix sought to bring back. CBS had no clue how to deal with streaming, and said no. Within the year Netflix started with its original content and became the power house it is. Netflix apparently tried to get a season 5 of ENT, a TV movie of ENT, and a new trek series, and we know how that went.

TNG is often in the top 5 of most watched TV series on netflix and the other series are often in the top 10-20. Its also one of the most binge watched shows.

Ferengi will not discuss bridal auctions with non-Ferengi, although it has been reckoned that it was a way for the father of the bride to pay for the wedding or a way for the groom to make profit from the ceremony. (ST reference: Celebrations)

Quark complained that there was no bridal auction during Rom and Leeta's wedding in 2373. (DS9 episode: "Call to Arms")

The episode your talking about is "In the pale moonlight" which is a amazing episode. It's extremely dark for TV, let alone trek.

It seems most of the Klingon cast, is now on break. They are in episodes 1-3 and now are not listed in the call sheets for future episodes. It sounds like they will be back towards the end of the season, but I guess that means no Federation/Klingon hybrid crew.

CBS All Access is rounding out and tweaking the cast for its upcoming Star Trek: Discovery series. [Pictured L-R: Shazad Latif, Rekha Sharma, Kenneth Mitchell, Clare McConnell and Damon Runyan]

Penny Dreadful alum Shazad Latif is shifting from his previously announced role as Kol, a commanding officer in the Klingon empire, to Lieutenant Tyler, a Starfleet officer in the Federation. The Kol role will now be played by Kenneth Mitchell.

Also joining cast are Rekha Sharma as Commander Landry, the security officer of the Starship Discovery; along with Clare McConnell and Damon Runyan as Dennas and Ujilli, respectively, leaders in the Klingon Empire.

Star Trek: Discovery will feature a new ship, new characters and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers. The series will premiere on the CBS with all subsequent episodes available on CBS All Access.

Sharma’s television credits include Battlestar Galactica and The 100. Mitchell appeared on CBS’ Jericho, The Astronaut Wives Club, and most recently, Frequency.

McConnell’s film credits include Dim the Fluorescents, slated for release this fall. Runyan’s TV credits include Suits, Supernatural and Gangland Undercover.

Pretty odd recasting a actor into a different role, after a few episodes are already filmed.

I do love this quote
Penny Dreadful alum Shazad Latif is shifting from his previously announced role as Kol, a commanding officer in the Klingon empire, to Lieutenant Tyler, a Starfleet officer in the Federation

Really hes a star fleet officer in the federation???? He's not a star fleet officer in the Romulan star empire or maybe the navy?

They are announcing things that wouldn't usually be announced, due to the lack of progress and continued mismanagement by CBS.

I want to see some internal political struggle in the federation, instead of portraying them as hand holding socialist utopia. There's gotta be cloaks and daggers going on.

I never cared for that.

Every other science fiction universe is twisted by greed and politics, it was nice to have one that was really positive, even if it was COMPLETELY unbelievable.

And inconsistent.

Eventually, but with each passing month the odds of it being the worst Trek to date increase I think.

I'm not a huge Trek fan but I've enjoyed it on a casual level over the years. I'd like to check this new iteration out but it's taking so long that by the time it finally premieres everyone will have lost interest.

Currently they are saying in the fall. They have 3 episodes in the can, and baring a writers strike, they should come close to meeting the deadline, but I won't be surprised if it's delayed until the winter.

I recommend passing the time by watching Enterprise. It takes place before discovery, and should have some relevant canon. Its also a great series to binge watch, although season 1 starts a little slow.

With all the Klingon leader casting announcements, it seems like the Klingon council will play a major role in the new series. The time it takes place is during the Klingon-Federation Cold war, where there isn't active warfare, and feelers are being put out for peace. Or maybe the Discovery crew gets involved in a Klingon Civil war, and will have many factions to deal with.

Bryan Fuller said this about the casting in Discovery today.

“We were very adamant early on about that cast, not just in terms of race but also in terms of gender. Janeway (of ‘Star Trek: Voyager’) carved a nice path as did Majel Barrett (Nurse Christine Chapel in the original ‘Star Trek’ series) in 1966, in the original pilot. So it was important for ethnic inclusivity and gender inclusivity (to be upheld in casting).

I was very excited to cast Michelle Yeoh before I left. I was pushing very hard for Sonequa Martin-Green to be cast before I left. So I feel like there’s a lot of wonderful diversity represented in the show, and I’m excited to see how it turns out.”

First episode of the new trek series has been leaked...
