I saw Gates at a panel at comic con Chicago. She talked about teaching David Bowie how to dance when filming labyrinth
I never new that. Looked it up and sure enough, there she was: Cheryl McFadden (Choreographer).

Yeah that is her main career. Choreographer and working in theater is how she got into acting.

I was at Comic Con today and saw Gates McFadden in person.
She looked good for her age.

Also Dirk Benedict also known as A teams Face was there.
Also for 72 he looked good.

Didnt want to pay 30 bucks to talk to them

Holy shit. Faceman is 72 !?

I don't know why Wesley Crusher gets such hate. I didn't find him to be so bad

He's only somewhat annoying in TNG. His real career in annoyance got going once he got old and fat, and became a professional SJW.

. You wanna know who's absolutely insufferable beyond all measure..... Kes and Neelix. I hate them. I hate them. I fucking hate them so much. They're worse than Jar Jar Binks in SW.

YES!

I strongly dislike Kim, though he's not nearly as bad as the other two. But both he and Paris are a couple of pussies. Hell, I dislike B'Elanna as well. I think pretty much the only people I really like are Janeway, Tuvok, Chakotay, The Doctor, and Seven. (But again, none are as awful as Neelix and Kes)

Kim and Paris are indeed pussies. They could have been such interesting characters, too. What a shame.

Janeway is just kind of off-putting, not sure why. Maybe the voice.

Tuvok is a travesty. He plays the part like an android, not a Vulcan. So terrible.

Chakotay is just kind of a douche.

Seven is a little over the top, but acceptable.

Which leaves us the Doctor. I guess he was the only worthwhile character in the series.

All this adds up to rank VOY as the worst series in the franchise. Yes, worse than Enterprise. Trek is a character driven franchise, and ENT had some good characters with depth. I will grant that Archer was terrible though.

I'm on DS9 Episode "Trials and Tribble-Ations" and it's possibly my favorite DS9 episode to date. They seemed to have captured the look and feel of TOS almost perfectly. So naturally, if the people who own the TV rights to the franchise keep wanting to make prequels, why don't they just go all out and literally recreate the look/feel of the the TOS, like this episode does, only make an entire series out of it? That'd be freaking amazing! Just have it take place concurrently with TOS, with an all new crew off on their own adventures.

Have you seen "Star Trek Continues"?

Check it out, well worth your time.

I agree VOY is the worst. Every trek series has some bad filler episodes, but voyager had by far the most and worst filler.

ENT, never got the respect it deserved. It has aged like fine wine. Lots of people(me included) bailed, early on in the series. Thankfully netflix has exposed Enterprise to many new fans. Netflix even inquired, about trying to revive Enterprise as a Netflix streaming series.

So Rainn Wilson is going to be Mudd.

This isn't feeling much different than the Abrams flicks with all the character recastings.

I'll try to check out the first episode since it'll be on what I already pay for and will check out the rest when it inevitably hits Netflix in a year or two.

No hope for Discovery.

You want to know the most WTF thing about that piece of news? I just found out that the dude who played Mudd originally was 33 years old at the time.

Boy did people age faster back then.

WTF. I hope this is only a short cameo.

One of the worst characters on Star Trek ever

Is he a star fleet officer? Perhaps he's a robotic specialist. Fuller did talk about robots being in Discovery. Maybe the ship will just have its own space pimp along with his robots hookers.

Sounds trans
I'm thinking it will just be one of the Roddeberryisms, like names don't have gender meanings in the future. I have met 2 girls with the name Michael

Remember we had this in season 1 of TNG

Yeah they had written him into a TNG episode, but died before they could film it.(it was written for Phase 2)

Happy First Contact day everyone. Something to look forward to after WWIII

Jesus Christ, I'm 32 and I would have guessed his age as late 40s.

Not excited about the prospect of recasts of classic characters. Smh.

Sonequa Martin-Green Addresses Her “Star Trek: Discovery” Character, Show Format, and Canon

On Past Star Trek Shows

I love the original series. It’s my favorite out of all of them, and I just love the dynamic between Kirk and Spock. All the characters on the show had rich relationships. I found myself just keeping it on in the background when I was doing a lot of my work when I first started.

Discovery Will Be a Different Type of Show in Star Trek Canon

When asked about the differences between her role as Burnham on Discovery and as Sasha on The Walking Dead, Martin-Green told The Hollywood Reporter that “being the first officer on the ship is going to be a wild ride because we haven’t seen that happen before in the Star Trek canon, we haven’t seen the story be told from the perspective of the first officer rather than the captain.”

Martin-Green continued,

“it’s going to open up so much potential for new storylines because not being the captain automatically gives you a different perspective. It’s going to be a wild ride and everybody on board — in front of the camera and behind — I’ve been floored by the performances on The Walking Dead from the beginning and I’m going to be astounded again by the people we’ve got assembled on Star Trek. I’m really excited.”

Speaking with TVLine, Martin-Green addressed the tone of Discovery, saying:

“this iteration of Star Trek is going to have a different take than the others in the Star Trek canon. It’s going to be bigger, rawer and grittier… and the story’s going to build on itself. It’s going to be a tremendous journey.”

Martin-Green on Her Casting, Transitioning Between Shows

In comments to TVLine about her casting, Martin-Green said that she is “swimming with the gratitude of it, and that’s carrying me through.” Martin-Green appears to still be pinching herself, noting: “I’m still blinking to see, ‘Is this real? Oh my goodness. But I hope that I can bear the weight, if you will, of this legacy and of this story, because I certainly want to do it justice.”

When asked by The Hollywood Reporter how quickly she transitioned from shooting The Walking Deadto Discovery, Martin-Green related that “there was a little time, but not too much! It was pretty back to back. There were the holidays, which were nice. There were definitely the holidays to sit and think a little bit about it.”
