Was very disappointed to learn this series takes place before the original Trek. That's pretty lame.
Why didn't they create one taking place further into the future?
Because they're assholes and knew that's exactly what I wanted to see.

Jason Isaac as the captain is a fantastic casting decision. I know him as Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter and as the bad guy in The OA.

You just know based on his previous roles though that this captain is gonna be an asshole.

He's a great well known character actor, who brings some star power to the series. But, I'm afraid he is just being brought on for the premiere, and then will be killed off. We already know, Green is going to be the lead, as the Lt.Cmdr. It would be awesome if he actually is in the series as a main cast member, and isn't killed off right away.

STAR TREK: DISCOVERY Finds Its Captain in Jason Isaacs

CBS All Access' Star Trek: Discovery has added a captain to its ranks. Jason Isaacs has joined the cast of the twice-delayed Star Trek drama for CBS' digital platform, THR has learned.

The series features the franchise's Enterprise, now known as the U.S.S. Discovery, and introduces new characters seeking new worlds and civilizations while exploring the dramatic contemporary themes that have been a signature of the franchise since its inception in 1966.

Isaacs (USA Network's Dig, NBC's Awake) will star as Captain Lorca, the captain of the Starship Discovery. He joins a growing cast of series regulars that includes The Walking Dead's Sonequa Martin-Green as Rainsford, a lieutenant commander; Doug Jones as science officer Saru; Anthony Rapp as fellow science officer Stamets; James Frain as Sarek, a Vulcan astrophysicist and Spock's father; Terry Serpico as Starfleet admiral Anderson; Maulik Pancholy as chief medical officer Nambue; and Sam Vartholomeos as junior Starfleet officer Connor. Set to recur are Michelle Yeoh as Georgiu, captain of another ship called the Shenzhou; Shazad Latif as Kol, the Klingon commanding officer; Chris Obi as a Klingon leader T'Kuvma; and Mary Chieffo as L'Rell, a Klingon commander.

The 13-episode Star Trek: Discovery has already had a troubled road to the screen. Originally set to debut in January 2017, it was delayed to May before being pushed back a second time; CBS Corp. CEO Leslie Moonves noted that the series is now likely going to debut in the late summer or fall. On top of the delays, original showrunner Bryan Fuller exited the series in October, with his longtime collaborators Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts poised to take over.

Screw him. He killed Odo in the Patriot!

JK, good pick up if he isn't killed off right away.

Are we gonna have a Trek Cameo in the premiere episode? The other series all featured a former cast member in the premiere episode. Time wise, T'pol would make the most sense. Perhaps something to do with Serek. Or they could have some sort of historical footage or video from Archer.

Also a Song relative, since Spiner is so old now
he could pull it off easy.

There could definitely be a Soong to deal with augments at some point. Not sure how Long Arik Soong lives or his when his kids are born.

time traveling spock mayhap?
There is a rumor that part of Discovery's premise is, Serek is actually a time traveler, who was the Romulan, Kirk faced, and later on one of the Klingons to help bring, the two sides together.

What we left behind, the DS9 documentary, which sought to raise $150k, raised $635,408 USD total funds raised
423% funded on March 10, 2017. Pretty awesome. Well run campaign with great perks.

I will keep hoping for a series where Sisko returns,
the crew of Voyager settle on Earth and
Picard becomes admiral.
