Yeah its a awesome series because it bring you up to date on TNG, DS9, VOY crews and what's happened to them.

Very nice. I don't want to spoil anything for myself, but do the Enterprise E and Riker's Titan fly together at all? Btw, how is the Titan series overall? I can't remember the name of it, but there was one Titan book I saw that had a Romulan storyline that looked interesting. I dig the Romulans. They're probably my favorite non-Federation group, next to the full powered Borg. (ie not the weak pathetic pussies Voyager made them out to be).

The section 31 books are ok, but more of a spy thriller, than a typical star trek or sci fi book. The new ones by David Mack are intresting, but you also probably would want to read destiny first.

I don't mind that. Does Picard or any of the TNG crew play a big role in the "Rogue" book? It's the one I'm specifically interested in, and probably the Voyager book too. I definitely am interested in the spy/thriller side of the Federation. There were a few TNG episodes like that that I liked.

Is Section 31 similar to the Romulan Tal Shiar? (Are there any Tal Shiar books, or Section 31/Tal Shiar crossover books?)

Finally, after 6 seasons, I've finally come upon an episode where Picard orders Maximum Warp!

Shit just got real.

Holy shit..... I just got my second "Maximum Warp." And from Beverly Crusher no less. I almost feel like these are momentous occasions.

@Adamant: There is an article in the German version of Memory Alpha - not sure whether it exists in the English one, too. In any case: It is not entirely consistent WHAT maximum warp even is. It does not seem to be the highest possible speed (which can only be upheld for a short time anyway). Rather, it seems to be the speed at which a specific target can be reached in the shortest time.

ships blowed up good in ds9. Lita has a nice rack. ds9 rocked!

Leeta boobs a lot to the show.. whoops, I mean Leeta brings a lot tit the show... dammit.. brings a lot to the show

Really? I thought it was literally the top capable warp speed of the ship. Voyager is 9.975. The Ent E is like 9.985. Etc. So I figured when Maximum Warp is ordered, the ship jumps to that speed towards it's destination.

The Titian books have been hit or miss for me. Its a really cool ship, and has the most diverse crew of any ship. The newer Titian books have been pretty good. One of the last Titian books was an Enterprise Vs Titian, Picard vs Riker.

TNG crew isn't really in the section 31 books I've read. They are more like a Bond novel, but featuring a genetically engineered Bashir.

My Favorite new ship is the USS Aventine, which is featured in Destiny. It is getting its own book series. I think a new trek series could be based iff the Aventine, or at least its premise.

Finish watching the series, then read these book mini series in this Order, Destiny, Typhon Pact, The Fall. Those series all feature multiple crews and ships, and all tie into each other.

Nice, what's the name of this specific book?

Will definitely keep my eye out for them.

Season 7 TNG "Thine Own Self". A guy at the village stabs Data in the back with a metal spike. It pierces completely through and pops out of his chest. This is a little baffling as I don't understand how this can happen if Data is made out of duranium. The guy who stabbed him was just a regular man. Not some super strong being or anything. Seems pretty inconsistent.

There is nothing to suggest Data cannot be stabbed or shot.

According to Memory Alpha, Data is made of the following:

  • bioplast (his skin)
  • tri-polymers (polymers used fabrics commonly)
  • polyalloys (his supports or 'bones)
Also remember something similar happened in 4x20 (Qpid). He also has been held at bay with guns.

In First Contact, he gets riddled with bullets but doesn't blink. IMO he probably has a self-protection routine he can wilfully activate but that doesn't work when attacked by surprise / from the back.

That guy was town blacksmith. He was clearly the planets strongest man! Except for when the anvil fell on him.....

There's another episode where a Klingon headbutts Data and almost KOs himself. Data didn't budge so much as a millimeter from it. (Data said the duranium could survive extreme stress) So I figured the metal spike should not have been able to penetrate him. At least not by an average humanoid.

Also, I got another episode with "maximum warp." They seem to be throwing it out a little more frequently now. I've heard it more in Season 7 alone than in the first 6 seasons combined.

Also, "Lower Decks" was a great episode. The blonde girl (Worf's protege - Bajoran girl) looked like she had the most amazing ass. Damn.
{<tongue}

I think his head (containing his "brain") is likely super protected.

All I know, is there are multiple blinking lights in his head. Blinking lights= Indestructible!!!

As I watch these final episodes of TNG, something I've been wondering about.... Data feels no emotions, so what do you think he would do if someone killed Spot right in front of him? Would that elicit an emotion?

No.

But depending on the circumstances, I think he would consider retribution a logical response to the murder of a companion of his.

Damn you guys making me wanna rewatch TNG and DS9 now...

I still gotta finish up TOS and take another stab at Enterprise at least before Discovery starts up.

Unless that companion was wearing a Red Uniform. Then it'd be, "Meh. Is normal"
