Processed foods and additives are literally killing us. It would be nice to have someone do something about that for a change even if they went too far.

It’s not on you. We can’t simultaneously say getting a voter ID is too difficult for some people in the population but they should be able to read and understand complex chemical compounds on their ultra processed foods.

We need less processed foods and less additives and preservatives.

Look at the health statistics since the introduction of HFCS in the US. Look at the health statistics since the introductions of chemical preservatives in our foods.

I agree that they should be forced to be more transparent about the effects on health but I don't know about outright banning things. I think you'd have to talk about banning smoking etc too if you're doing that.

Dunno if you have anything similar in the US but in the UK we have a colour coding system that's on any kind of processed food packaging.

not the perfect system but it at least gives some idea as to whether what you're putting into your body is shit or not.

We have something like that but not as good.

We do have a sugar tax in the UK. Seemed to work with sodas, it makes it about 30% more to buy a soda with sugar in it than the diet/zero version and although I don't have any stats just looking at shelves in shops tells me the market has changed regarding which soda people are buying.

Yes I have kids and they've never eaten anything that isnt organic or fresh. Unless we are in a restaurant. We don't buy that s*** because we're educated and we know how terrible it is for people's health. If we buy anything Frozen or in a box we buy it at a house store that already screens all of that out.

Presently our fda doesn't even allow for decent labeling so people know what they're eating and that it's poisonous to their bodies.

Our FDA does not serve us and even though RFK is a bit of a quack, he's right about our food and people will be much healthier under his watch.

Pretty much all meta-analysis show that 'seed oils' aren't correlated with worse health outcomes outside of a few outliers. That is not a 'big pharma' attack, that's simply reality. What evidence do you have to show other than scary buzzwords.

The problem with the American diet isn't the guidelines, which are generally pretty good although not perfect. It's that you guys don't follow them, eat too much including too much palatable junk with high fat and sugar, and don't move enough. Only roughly 15 percent of Americans follow dietary guidelines as far as intake of fruits and vegetables are concerned and only about 25 percent follow exercise guidelines. To claim that seed oils are 'killing us' is not only scientifically illiterate and a fancyful story without evidence, it's ignorant of facts about lifestyle factors and mortality risk.

Adhering to a diet following guidelines and measured by the Healthy Eating Index is consistently associated with lower mortality risks.

99% of our meals come from home where we eat perfectly healthy, organic unprocessed foods with no poison in them.

But we still go out to eat sometimes and enjoy ourselves. And also sometimes if we're with family or friends where we would eat what they give us without making us scene.

Fair enough and we shouldnt take Rfk at face value. It seems that people arent giving him a fair shake and are only arguing against positions percieved as insane. He says alot of good shit as well that is omitted in these critiques.

The problem I have with him isn’t that he has some good ideas though because he does. The problem is I see him as overly confident in his world views and those often run contrary to evidence. The other issue, if you listen to some of what he says, really is some bat shit crazy opinions he has.

I am not trying to disparage him here or make a joke, but he really doesn’t act like a sane person. Think of the stories you’ve seen about him dumping bear bodies or chopping up whales. These aren’t like bad things that makes me think he’s a bad person or anything. But they are the actions of a nutjob. Like seriously think of some of those stories. If you heard that story and it was not tied to politics at all, you would wtf is wrong with this dude.
