Chuck Liddell, Mirko Cro Cop, Robbie Lawler, Charles "krazy horse" bennett

honorable mention for the diaz brothers, but they would have taken up two slots.

wand rocked chuck and chuck went fro a few panicked shakedown-takedowns

1. Wanderlei Silva

2. Robbie Lawler

Those two might be in a class of their own. I want to say Chuck or Rampage but both of those guys resorted to taking down Wand. Just goes to show how scary Wand was on the feet that two strikers had to take him down.

Oh, please. Chuck definitely got the better of Wand on the feet. He didn't HAVE to take Wand down. He took him down to secure the decision after nearly gassing out trying to finish him.

When's the last time you watched that fight? Chuck got knocked down in the second, but seemed unphased by it. He only went for the takedowns late in the fight to secure the decision and they were hardly "panicked".

Good lord, Wand fans coming with some heavy revisionist history in this thread.

I have no problem with somebody going for a takedown but this fight I did have a problem with it. Chuck declared for years that he would KO Wand. This truly was supposed to be a standup fight. I understand he did it to secure the decision but he was also probably tired like you said and Wand keeps coming like the Terminator. I think a lot of people would try to take him down in that situation. Wand had already knocked him down and taken a lot of hard shots from Chuck. Chuck knew he was up on points and did not want to risk getting knocked out late in the fight.

I don't think we are really disagreeing on anything here. You would probably shoot on Wand too if he was coming at you!

Robbie was almost murdered by Rory and had no interest whatsoever in looking for a takedown.

He was about to get finished and looked at Big John like "dude, leave me alone I've got this".
And he indeed got that.

Name four guys who:

1) Never were scared to trade with any striker.
2) Never went for a takedown first when fighting another striker.
3) Has to be good or great. Mt. Rushmores are no place for scrubs.

I can't seem to get #2.. Liddell?

Go.

Before I look at any answers I'm gonna say Diego, Robbie and Dan Henderson?.... no Wanderlei!

Didn't Chuck go for TDs against Wand? That would disqualify him as per the second criterion.

Diaz DOVE for Daleys legs in their match and was holding onto them for dear life.

Chuck had actually said on more than one occasion that if there was anyone out there who he'd actually use his wrestling offensively against them, it'd probably be Wand.

I didn't remember Chuck shooting on Wand. If he was tired and did it he still did it so I guess I wouldn't put him up there, maybe on a technicality.

So far looks like Lawlor, Wand and Diego are getting the most shout outs.
