Stalker 2 Trailer

I've watched a few reviews of the released version, and apparently its best to call this 'unfinished.'

Definitely looks like it'll be far better after a year of updates.

Not my genre interest, but i hope the game studio sees success. Type of development hell they had to go through is inspiring.

Wouldn’t be a Stalker game without Eurojank and bugs.

Will definitely check it out after it’s had some more patches and maybe fan made mod fixes.

Classic Stalker

I preordered it ages ago, but will probably give it at least a few months before I play it. Stalker games always need patches and mods to unlock their potential

Dropping in 2 days. Got it pre ordered on Steam. Never played the first one but really looking forward to diving into this.
You give it a go yet? Anyone else jump in?

The bugs are affecting reviewers at different degrees, as Ive checked out a few trusted sources.

Those who played it with the massive ""day 0" patch (130-ish gigs) seem to be having better results, but still buggy.

Looking forward to playing this at some point!

What’s up with Xbox? This and Microsoft flight simulator? Is there simply no quality control over there? Both might be good games but why not delay them. GamePass seems to put more pressure on stuff to release because they need those subs

Well I'm posting from an Xbox.

I did, but only for about 30 min and still very much in the starter area. I tried really hard to go at it with mouse/kb, but after the 30 min my wrists were sore and I was just frustrated at how bad I was. Will try again tonight with controller.

Read it was littered with bugs which doesn't surprise me, but I certainly didn't run into anything in the 30 min. I only saw like 2 enemies. Sounds like I might have big patch to download when I get home.

I don't know. There's a guy who post over on Neogaf who's a bit of an insider for MS news and claimed that Flight Sim was coming in hot. Once it released he said the issues happening right now were happening during the testing phase as well. So MS knew this would happen and still released it anyways. Xbox just doesn't seem to care about any sort of quality control at all or how it reflects back on them.

They've been working on this game for a long time, I don't get why it needed to be released in such a shitty state. Is M$ publishing?

I don't know if any of you are veterans of the franchise, but I fell in love with the lore and the AI system that made the games special. I only got into them fairly recently too, there's nothing like it.

They had Bethesda's radiant AI (Oblivion's especially) called A-life, but it was way better on a global scale. Oblivion did it better on the character level.

In the OG trilogy, mutants and Stalkers/factions were doing their own thing, always colliding with each other and anomalies in unscripted events, making the crazy simulation feel like a living breathing world. I loved the way enemies flanked you, then having to react when other groups/mutants slipped into the battle. It made the jank worth it. You never knew what was going to happen out there.

This game is supposed to have their touted "A-life 2.0", which was the big draw for fans and me. They changed the definition from A-life 2.0 in the game's description on Steam to something generic, then told fans it's just a naming thing. From what I'm hearing that's BS, as not only is it broken, but you have enemies spawning behind you.

I can forgive some bugs, as their games are complex, but gutting their AI, or at least presenting something totally broken, which was the main draw of the OG's, that is #1 bullshit! Wonky performance is icing on the shit cake.

Save your $$ folks and wait a few months. This will be a gem at some point, especially with the mods. Hell, you can download standalone mods that include the full games right now if you're itching to try them out.

Got a couple hours in this morning. Finished up the tutorial area and made my way to the first encampment completing a few quests on the way. Looking around now looking for stashes. Dying a ton which is to be expected. It took me a while to figure out the lame artifact I found and equiped was doing constant radiation damage and I was confused as to why my radiation levels were so high when I didn't appear to be picking any up. I thought it was just a tough mechanic and would pick up rads from random actions like eating.

Haven't hit any gameplay bugs yet, but couldn't play with my Dual Sense Edge controller. Looked online and see a lot of issues with controller support. Tried my son's Xbox controller and that worked fine. I just can't adjust to m/KB, I'm just to clumsy after damn near 40 years of console play.

I'm enjoying it so far, but haven't hit any gameplay bugs yet.

Ya some other artifacts have negative effects. Some have weak or medium or strong radiation effects

Seems like this'll be a perfect pick-up in about 6 months when all the bugs are quashed and the systems are worked out.

I feel like outside of bugs, the economy could use some work. Not sure how the first one handled loot, but in the one weapon durability effects it's sell rate. When it drops below I think 80% it gets a yellow broken shield icon, then at like 50% it turns into a red broken shield, and the lower the durability the more likely your gun is to jam. If a weapons durability drops to a red icon, you can't sell it. The money needed to repair it to sell is higher than the sell price you would get, so you're at a net loss. Most of the world enemies I've ran across drop red durability weapons, so their not worth looting except for unloading the ammo. I will say ammo is quite plentiful and supplies seem to be more of a money maker than gear, at least in the early game. Plus, when you do find a gun that isn't busted and can be sold, it's not worth the overall weight for like 600-900 credits they sell on average.

Repairing your gear can be pretty expensive too, so my money situation is staying pretty low. I'm the guessing later in the game. I managed to scrounge around 10k credits and finished up a quest and got a Stalker Rifle that was busted and needed to be repaired. Took it to the guy and he wanted 19k, so it sits in my loot stash.

Hit my first significant bug this morning. Was looting a cheat when I got shot and knocked out of the loot mechanic, but then I was locked out from right analog and mouse aim functionality and stuck looking at the ground. Quick reload fixed it.

Hitting my stride now in the first area. Did a quest and found a scoped AR, which has been great for ammo consumption since this game HIGHLY prioritizes head shots. Was also totally saddled down with consumables but didn't think I could put them in my stash. When I tried to select and manually move them to the stash it wouldn't move over, but found out if you use the auto move function it sends them over, so was able to dump a huge amount of weight which makes exploring a ton more efficient.

Big patch live today with lots of big fixes but hot damn it looks like they balanced the economy. Weapon/Armor repair cost down, more money for selling artifacts, and more money from missions. Playing on the medium difficulty, but they also threw weapon/armor degradation reduction on the rookie setting.

No major bugs hit yet but glad to see lots of fixes, but have crashed a few times. Fucking thrilled about the repair cost reduction. Would save up a small nest egg and have it completely wiped out in repairs. Was having to start prioritizing repairs since selling loot was coming up short to repair my armor after I started getting some decent equipment.
