8x75 p/p (felt great stretch, particularly the final few)
8x25 k (not too shabby!)
8x25 sprint w/ turn (could feel the airplane stiffness with every stroke!)

(have been doing treadmill hills and other organized dryland, including some doubles; less pool time has been a function of work schedule, travel, etc)

This weekend is Illinois State Championships / Masters. Just doing a couple of sprint events to keep mentally in the game and to have some fun. Psyched to cheer on the team and other friends as they use this to jump off to nationals!
 
13-14 Apr -- swim meet
  • was a great time, lots of fast swims
  • did a post transplant / master's swimming PR in the 50 fly and 50 breast
  • had good relay splits too (but not PR splits)
  • first non TX-games meet that was pure fun!
 
... and of course, being around all those people.... URI...

Notes
  • Have been good with the treadmill and swim bands since the Master's State Championships
  • CV conditioning translates pretty well to the water
  • Feet & calves not happy being back in the water, like usual

Thoughts
  • Really crappy stretch at work; am very happy with 1) actually making it to swim and 2) completing a challenging workout!!!
  • The 200s in the main set really sucked and I clearly lost power and started to cramp in the middle of them
  • The 25s were good; they turned into 25 ez; 2x25 fly; 25 ez, which is okay -- the fly wasn't too shabby
  • Pressed for time, so no treadmill this morning

  • Really tough today
  • Good kicking work -- working towards minimizing cramping, making kick "neutral" during longer races
  • deliberately no treadmill this morning: wanted to push the swimming as far as it could go
  • accomplished this in one hour (very happy about that)

  • Really tough, but fun, practice!
  • The 800 w/u felt fantastic; had a great groove
  • Really liked the 4x200 (took a lot out of me)
  • The kicking sets are helping but it's slow going with such a tragic kick
  • Was a "vision quest" to hit the 3800 today (about 1 hr 10 min; was about 3400 at the hour)

  • and 10 kcal on the ski erg after each round (starting at damper 10 and down one setting, etc)
  • goal was minimal rest; maybe longest was 20 sec (break at wall balls in round 5)
  • lots of fun!
