Spider-Man Reboot Officially Titled SPIDER-MAN HOMECOMING

Avengers-Spider-Man-100714-Dragonlord.jpg

Spidey finally has a name. Sony unveiled the title for its Spider-Man reboot — Spider-Man Homecoming — at its CinemaCon presentation on Tuesday night.

The studio also brought out Tom Holland, who will star as the young Peter Parker, as the surprise guest. The young actor was flown to Las Vegas straight from the premiere of Captain America: Civil War in Hollywood.

The first clip from Spider-Man Homecoming showed Holland’s Parker meeting Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark, who drops by his Aunt May’s (Marisa Tomei) house. The film, directed by Jon Watts, is set to hit theaters July 7, 2017.

Sony kicked off its presentation at CinemaCon with the first big footage from both Ang Lee's Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk and the sci-fi love story Passengers, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt. CinemaCon runs through Thursday.

Might be the minority here...

I don't like the title.

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Official Logo Unveiled at CinemaCon

I usually try and stay positive, but this looks like a logo for a kid's cartoon on Nick or CN. I'm not a Spider-Man geek though, so maybe there's some sort of relevance I'm not aware of?

My thoughts exactly. I kept trying to read up and see if this was meant for the cartoon

How many times are they going to reboot this shit? Why can't they just continue on with the story?

Also, is this Spiderman going to be the Black Puerto Rican gay guy Spiderman?

Which story? The last couple sucked.

Have you not seen the actor yet?

Not Puerto Rican.

I had the same reaction also after seeing the logo. But I think this is just a working logo and they'll come up with a better one down the line. They just recently decided on the title based on the April 4 report about the web domain registration. And with CinemaCon fast approaching, I think the logo was a rushed job.

Oh, that would make sense. If they can turn Spider-Man around, you know that Marvel are the kings of this hero movies world. 3 bad to average Spidey movies in a row is going to be tough to bounce back from.

I thought they may copy the new comic book spider man which is a black puerto rican and whose also gay from what I hear

Yeah, I know who he is. There was rumors running around at the beginning and it was a missed opportunity.

I just don't think they have gotten Spider-Man/Parker right yet. I would love to see when they finish up with Tom to pass over to Miles.

If you want to thoroughly educate yourself on the history of the Spidey reboot, go to the archives on post #20 and scroll up.

If you want the short version: TASM2 bombed with the critics and most of the audience. It's box office earnings was a disappointment. Whatever sequel or spinoff they come up will most likely fail also. Sony asked Marvel Studios for help. Now, Spidey is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Marvel Studios will be the creative producers all things regarding Spider-Man.

Michael Keaton in Talks for Villain Role in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

Michael-Keaton-Spider-Man-Homecoming-Dragonlord.jpg

The new Spider-Man movie is targeting former Batman actor Michael Keaton to play the villain in Marvel/Sony’s reboot of the web-crawling hero, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Talks are in the very stages - it’s not quite clear if there’s offer on the table – but overtures are there. It is unclear what character Keaton would play in the story that is said to take Spider-Man to his high school roots.

Titled Spider-Man: Homecoming, the movie begins shooting this summer and will launch a third incarnation of one of Marvel’s most popular heroes. Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Homecoming opens on July 7, 2017

Tom Holland is starring as the hero, Peter Parker, and is making his debut as the character in Captain America: Civil War (and already garnering praise for his take on the character).

Michael Keaton Circling Villain Role in 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'

Comments: Keaton will probably be playing the Vulture, which would be nice twist since he also played a winged superhero character in Birdman.

Keaton could pull off Vulture but he's probably too high-profile for that role. Maybe Norman Osborn?

I know he got a boost from Birdman, but is he really high-profile? His career was in the dumps for a decade before that.
