Zendaya Joins Tom Holland in Sony's SPIDER-MAN Reboot
Zendaya will join Tom Holland in Sony and Marvel's
Spider-Man reboot. Holland is starring as Peter Parker in Sony's new take on the webslinger. Zendaya's role is currently being kept under wraps, but sources say it is not a lead role. Marisa Tomei is attached to play Aunt May.
Jon Watts is directing the currently untitled Spider-Man reboot from Marvel and Sony. Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are producing the film, which focuses on a teenage Parker.
Deadline reports that Zendaya will be playing a character named Michelle, but don't provide any further details. Could this be Michele Gonzales, who is a supporting character in the Spider-Man comics?
Zendaya was one of a handful of actresses who had been testing with Holland for the past couple of weeks, but
Variety insiders stress that the character is neither Parker’s love interest nor a lead role. She will, however, play a bigger part in future installments.
Zendaya is known for starring on Disney Channel's
Shake It Up, and also appeared on the 16th season of
Dancing With the Stars. She currently stars on Disney Channel's
K.C. Undercover.
