Would be awesome and meta if birdman was Spiderman's Nemesis in the new homecoming Queen Bee movie.

Meta is one reason I wanted the Red Skull to be in Civil War. Disney owns both Marvel and Star Wars. Mark Hamil voiced the Red Skull in the Avengers cartoons.

Laura Harrier and Tony Revolori Joins the Cast of SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

One Life to Live star Laura Harrier has landed a significant role in Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, TheWrap has exclusively learned.

Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Dope) has also joined the cast as Peter Parker’s friend Manuel, according to insiders.

Jon Watts (Cop Car) is directing the new Spider-Man, which will star Tom Holland as the webslinger and Marisa Tomei as his Aunt May. Zendaya will co-star as a mysterious character named Michelle, while Michael Keaton is in talks to play a villain.

The new Spider-Man movie was written by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein and will focus on Peter Parker’s high school days. The writers are believed to have infused the superhero film with the spirit of John Hughes‘ classic high school movies.

Marvel’s Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are producing Spider-Man: Homecoming, which will swing into theaters on July 7, 2017.

Best known for playing Destiny Evans on the long-running soap One Life to Live, Harrier has previously appeared in the Anna Kendrick musical The Last 5 Years and the indie comedy 4th Man Out. The model-turned-actress recently filmed Steve McQueen‘s HBO drama pilot Codes of Conduct.

Comments: So it looks like THR's Borys Kit's report that the movie will focus on a diversity cast is true. And it looks like they're playing brand new characters. Cool cool.

Only if it's a Transgender Spiderman:)

I find the name SpiderMAN offensive. One, we don't know what that superhero identifies as, and two, Spiderperson emphasizes the hero's POWERS over their GENDER.

How can he be spider-man, if he isn't real?

lmao, I spent some decent time reading his bullshit tweets. He is bat shit crazy.

OH, and I really, really hope they tell the origin story of Spiderman. I have no idea how he got his powers.

I know you're being sarcastic but you'll be happy to know that they are skipping the whole origin story.

Phew, thank god they are skipping all the high school years. The high school drama with Spiderman is so overdone in the movies.

His university life is much more interesting anyway; all the girls, exams and 5 am muggin's. Pretty much my life 2 years ago.

Robert Downey Jr. Joins the Cast of SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

It looks like the team-up of Spider-Man and Iron Man seen in Captain America: Civil War won’t be the duo’s last. Robert Downey Jr., who plays the red and gold-armored Marvel character, has closed a deal to join the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Marvel and Sony’s reboot of the web-crawling superhero, sources tell THR.

Tom Holland will star as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and is making his debut as the character in Civil War (and already garnering praise for his take on the role). The movie establishes a key relationship between Tony Stark/Iron Man and Parker and Homecoming will continue that thread.

Homecoming has been casting up ahead of its June start of production. Marisa Tomei will play Aunt May, while Zendaya is one of the female leads. Tony Revolori, who starred opposite Ralph Fiennes in The Grand Budapest Hotel, and Laura Harrier, who appeared in the soap opera One Life to Live, are also boarding the project.

With Downey’s boarding, it appears that Marvel Studios will continue to keep Spider-Man close not just creatively but also literally; Tony Stark/Iron Man appearing in Homecoming keeps the Sony’s movies strongly tied to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Michael Keaton No Longer in Talks for SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

Michael-Keaton-Spider-Man-Homecoming-042116-Dragonlord.jpg

Last week, it was reported that Oscar-nominated actor Michael Keaton was in early talks with Sony and Marvel to play a villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Today Deadline reports that talks between the actor and the studios have fallen through, and that Michael Keaton has parted ways with Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Deadline's report doesn't specify exactly why Michael Keaton dropped out of the project, but if he had stayed on, he would have joined a select group of actors to play characters from both Marvel and DC Comics. While the villainous character he was set to play hasn't been confirmed, there have been rumors that the villain is Vulture.

The news of Michael Keaton dropping out of Spider-Man: Homecoming was coupled with Robert Downey Jr. coming aboard to reprise his role as Iron Man in this superhero reboot.

RDJ should send a fruit basket to Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's family for all the money he's made off Iron Man

should be the other way around, IMO. RDJ made Marvel bank with the first Iron Man. Success of that movie launched the Marvel universe.
