Spent $100 on a steak.. would YOU eat this?

Slim pickins rigtht now when it comes to steak with good marbling. I spent $80 on 2 ribeyes at $38/lb and another $20 on ingredients. The steak themselves only had "OK" marbling, compared to before food supply shortage bullshit.

The first one I messed up, so into the trash it went. This is the 2nd one.

I put some peppercorn, sea salt, garlic, olive oil and let it sit for an hour to get to room temp, then fried it on the stove with a cast iron pan and put butter and thyme on it. I sauteed some mushrooms before cookin the steak.

Would YOU eat this?

I hope you're kidding... that looks like crap.

Would not eat.

1) How did you screw up a steak and need to throw it out?!
2) Why the paper plate?
3) Why is your steak on a bed of rice?
4) That steak looks terrible.

Get a GF or wife that knows how to cook, because you are a lost cause.

Not for $100. I wouldn't.

I'd rather spend way less on a shitty cut of top round and turn it into beef stew with dumplings.

Maybe you accidentially got a bottom sirloin

My parents were complaining about food price inflation the day. I guess a steak they bought cost even more, around $100.

Season with kinders buttery steak house ( or what ever you like) for a couple hours. Pull out steak for maybe 20 mins before I cook it. I use my cast iron pan. Heat up to mid heat or so. Add olive oil to pan. Throw on steak for 5-7 mins per side, depending on size and how done your wife wants it. Put steak on plate for another 5 minutes before eating. Hasn't failed me yet

You can get solid ribeye at costco for less than that. Usually a pack of steaks for $35-$50.

While the grill is preferable you can cook a great steak in a cast iron skillet, but usually not on the burner of a residential stove (a restaurant burner will get the skillet WAY hotter than you can pull off at home without smoking out your kitchen).

What you want to do is use the broiler with that skillet.

Your steak, frankly it looks pan fried.

I'd use the broiler, and babysit the hell out of it when using the broiler because things can burn fast.

You can warm up the skillet on the stovetop, but we'd put the oven rack as high as it goes and put the skillet with the steak under the broiler flame to get a good rare to medium rare without using a grill.
