NFL Speed and the NFL

The year Ernie Davis won the Heisman, Bob Fergeson came in second.

Riggins twice won the Kansas State 100 yarrds, one of those was a 9.8, he was around 210 then and ripped. He also won the long jump with a 22 something.

I don't think Riggins ran track while at Kansas. Back then a 9.8 would have worked at least on the 4x1.

When I first got into pro football the fastest cat in the league was a Colts cornerback Lenny Lyles he was out of Louisville, he had made the USA 100 yard finals. That was around 1959ish.

Then just before Bullet Bob shows up in 64 the newest Fastest NFLer was Villanova 9.2 Olympian Frank Budd an Eagle.

That is where it all startd for me. My Niners had another Olympian Ray Norton a WR 9.3/10.1.

Also in 64 there was Henry Carr the Olympic 200m champ. So the NFL had 4 Olympic sprinters. But, way before them and me was Ollie Matson an Olympic 400m bronze medalist, talking 1952. And before him the 5-4 Buddy Young an NCAA/USA champ in the 40's.

Now all that was a long long time ago.

Who can talk speed in soccer or rugby, well?

The comment about being a 40 champ is BS, but.......he was an NCAA/USA 100 champ.

Again he goes with rificilous numbers lol 😆 😂 🤣 Usain Bolt fastest guy in world is running 9.58 but nfl guys are going 9.2 lol

That fantasy 100m using Olympians who ran that Olympic final.

lane

1.Ray Norton
2.Johnny Jones
3.Frank Budd
4.Bob Hayes
5.Jim Hines
6.Ron Brown
7.Sam Graddy

No other ball sports comes anywhere close to that.

So this is bogus?

All Time USA 100 yard dash

lane

1.Houston McTear 9.0
2.Charlie Greene 9.1
3.Bob Hayes 9.1
4.Ivory Crockett 9.0
5.Jim Hines 9.1
6.Willie McGee 9.1
7.John Carlos 9.1
8.Steve Williams 9.1

None of that actually happeed?

Dude, Bolt runs the....100 meters.....ok rookie?

Never happened you know it is know it

9.1 is 100 YARDS, 9.58 is 100 METERS

Dude, this the third time I have explained this, sheesh~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
100 yards is not 100meters so why you comparing soccer players who run 100 meters or olympics aprinter to this

Dude,....

9.1....10,06
9.2....10.16
9.3.......10.26
9.4.....10.36

Common knowledge.

You don't appear to understand any of this stuff at all.

Talk to me about that soccer 4x2 and 4x4, well?

Is this fica for real?

I can't talk baseball, NASCAR, tennis, golf, basketball so I don't. Why is this guy trying to talk about something he knows nothing about?

Bolt runs a 9.58 for 100 meters,
Bob Hayes ran a 9.1 for 100 yards.

Ok in the early 60's Bob Hayes ran te first 9.1 for 100 yards.

Tying his 9.1....

Jim Hines
Charlie Greene
Willie McGee
Steve Wiliams
John Carlos
Harry Jerome....Canadian

Then in 1974

Crockett was a track star from his time at high school in Webster Groves in St. Louis County, Missouri. In 1968 as a senior he ran the second fastest time that year by a high-school student. He was recruited to Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, where he competed successfully on their track team, including becoming twice USA champion in the 100 yards sprint, in 1969 and 1970.[2]

In 1974, he ran the fastest 100-yard dash with manual timing of 9.0 seconds, a record he still holds.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HS kid Houston McTear would tie that 9.0
The WORLD was running the 100 meters, the USA was running 100 yards,
I did assume that was common knowledge, guess not.
I was once on another board talking about Cali High School sprinters, I mention Millard Hampton and his school Edison in Fresno, the valleys Muir, Hawthorne, Long Beach Poly.
Poster comes on......excuse me but Hampton went to Silver Creek in San Jose so you're.....WRONG,
I knew right away what had happened but didn't like the guys.....WRONG.
Me.....I got 60 days self bannishment to wager that Millard Hampton was out of Edison high school, you in? So he agrees......then I show him this........................
1 Herb Turner Alameda NC 09.9 100Y 1952
2 Leamon King Delano C 09.9 100Y 1952
3 Millard Hampton Edison C 10.0 100Y 1952*****************
4 George Lewis El Monte S 10.1 100Y 1952
5 George Hutcherson Manual Arts LA 10.1 100Y 1952
6 Herb Jackson McClatchy SJ 100Y 1952
The guy couldn't believe it , ya see he had ran with Millard Hampton JUNIOR at Silver Creek.
I let him off the hook.
This fica reminds me of that guy, no clue at all.
When he started....Bolt runs a 9,58 so what is this 9.2 9,3,,,,,,,,,,,,,that said it all,
