PR SOUL upon entry: Make a deal with the devil [power/strength training log]

Had 2nd interview today with 2 different people for the security position for the show 'V.iew by the B.ay'. It's an ABC show thats aired live during the day around same time as the Opera. 20 hours a week. It's a nice mellow gig and I'd definitely would like to work there. They said they'll let me know.

185-3 reps...felt weak...maybe had 1 more...
open belt:
205-2+0 reps...
closed belt:
225-1+0 reps...barely got it...eh

Push Press:
225-1+0 reps...just felt weak and shitty....

GMs:
135-2x5....goofing around

Barbell Glute Bridges:
135-5 reps
225-2x5 reps...
315-5 reps....
-pretty painful having the bar sit on the groin area....the padding didnt make much of a difference but I had more in me...I think I am capable of 4+ plates on this lift...

-workout took about an hour

-played 2 3o3 games and shot around a bit in between...

Oh man those bb glute bridges are rough. Did you feel anything from them at all? We did these about a month ago, worked up to 5 plates, and you're right the padding doesn't help at all. I had some serious bruising. Oh, and I'm sure you're good for more than 4 plates DS.

Just post. chain power / glute activation. So squats/deadlifts, I'd even say jerks and of course any oly lifts. I'll tell you that I wasn't sore from them except at the groin ad don't think they did much for me or my training partner.
 
I felt the bridges in my glutes. I held each rep at the top for a count of 1 and squeezed my glutes as hard as I could. I think my glutes and core are some of the weak points that are holding back my squat.


On a sidenote I felt like a total douchbag doing that lift because it looks so rediculous...then again it has never stopped me before.

Loool good point. Everyone was staring at us hip thrusting with 5 wheels and grunting very loudly. :)
 
Donut thanks. I am trying to get used to lifting sore. Trying to step up the frequency of my workouts to see if I get anything out of it. So far no dice.

I had my back against a bench during the glute bridges.

Best of luck on the second gig - sounds like you could be potentially better off financially than you were with SFPD...without having to deal with druggies and transvestites?!

I like the hip thrusters/glute bridges...they have strong carry-over to mount escapes...plus, they make your butt look hawt! :redface:

So this is your first time doing Glute bridges?

I've always read those as a waste, kinda like tricep kickbacks. Would you like to elaborate more?
 
Newt with both jobs combined I'd make about half of what I made with SF.PD. I believe they are one of the highest paid depts in the country. Something like ~110g at the highest step with no OT. With bit of OT many guys with advanced cert get something like 120-150g. There were a few OT hoz who made close to 200. In the academy they start you off at like 80g now so it's a very good paying job. lol...you right though quite a bit of the shit we had to deal with was very unsavory.

Ghost quite a few people are like that. It's like majority of people I was cool with suddenly forgot who I was. I am sure most of them only heard the rumors and other bs and go by that. Only a couple people I was cool who made it bothered to text/call me and ask wtf happened. Most others who were supportive were the academy people who didnt make it.

OJ I cant speak to the effectiveness of barbell hip thrusts/bridges but I definitely feel quite sore in my glutes today. Once I build up closer to my maxes I will be able to judge it more objectively of how this exercise affects my other lifts.

Ath I like this place and that's why I've been here for a while.

Apparently I have been refused entry at the new S/P forum. LOL...Got an email from Chase asking why I'd want to join their forum after calling their behavior childish. This is the last I speak of this but I thought it was amusing and decided to mention it here. Give me a break with all the elitist attitude. There's a difference between coming to a forum to read lifting/etc advice and have meaningful discussion and acting like douchbags and 5 year olds simply because you can. I never said anything bad about any one of them specifically but I did call them out on their behavior. Like I said countless other times they are strong and knowledgeable lifters and I generally like their humor/easy going attitude however that does not excuse them from acting civil. It's pathetic when you do something solely to drive someone away. I wish them nothing but the best and genuinely hope they hit their goals.
