It definitely seems that's the direction things are going. Topuria has refused to fight Arman, and the UFC don't particularly like Arman or want him to be champion.
 
If Arman wants to stay active then yeah. He has to start eliminating contenders.
 
Writing is on the wall. The UFC is going to slow walk Arman's deal til he's done and prob only offer him bullshit fights nowhere near a ts. They want nothing to do with him. This is more than punishment. This is like Mokaev type thing. He must have went in their purse and really fucked them over.

I get that he's fucked up, and I get people wanting to hold it against him, but even when "You had a title shot in your hand that never materialized" happened in the past, it usually didn't take too much of a turnaround to get the promised title shot back. Not only did he not get rebooked for the title fight he had, he wasn't booked for the vacant title that followed, and now isn't booked for the interim coming up. That's three title opportunities he's been skipped over now. Anyone trying to justify this as an appropriate response is fooling themselves, because at this point, the punishment answer should just have been "cut him," because what's the purpose otherwise?

He's probably more difficult to deal with bc he isn't poor and doesn't have to make decisions based on money. That is like the opposite of the guy the UFC wants

Arman no question is the #1 contender who just fought. So a mid spring fight makes perfect sense. Gaethje/Paddy is in later January. Having winner vs winner to unify the belts is the best idea.

I think the contention he's making is not timing, but the fact it'd end up with an interim champ who isn't the number 1 contender, making the point of an interim title null and void.

How does Arman expect to be justified in a title shot when his streak only includes the beating #4 Dariush, #1 Oliveira, and #6 Hooker in the past 2 years.

EDIT : Illa said no fights in the 1st quarter, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s is gunna be ready the 1st month of the second quarter of the year.

I agree though I would loveeeeeeeeeee to see Max vs Arman next.... I just have a feeling Max stuffs a bunch of Armans takedowns

Gaethje/Paddy vs Ilia/Arman.....title unification fight. In this case, Gaethje/Paddy would be the #1 contender. But Arman just fought and he is the rightful #1 contender, and he fought before those guys. It's not fair for a guy to fight who was already established at the #1 contender, he fights and wins again establishing himself even more as the #1 contender. And then gets it taken away cause two guy happen to be in a interim fight who have not even done close as much.
 
I wonder if Arman took the Gamrot fight back when offered and won the same way, if the UFC would've put Arman vs whoever for interim instead. I feel bad for Arman, but also the whole reason Moicano/Islam was 1 out of 2 LW title fights for 2025 was because he made some mistake the day before. So part of me is pissed for Islam's last LW fight being ruined again once more.

Just sucks as a fan watching these divisions grind to a fucking halt. Even 2 a year is kind of pathetic from a fan's pov. I'm almost at the point where I want an interim championship fight if they can only do 2x a year, just so we get a 3rd fight.

Oh no, i follow, but that DOES mean that when the champ is ready to go, the belt isn't being unified next. Means the interim is even more of a joke than the UFC has already made it. Even if we're still technically being correct by saying both Arman and the IC are "next," not in that they are next for the title, but that their next fight will be for the title
