Song Dedication Thread v4, "Combat your commentary" Edition

Hey @Jackonfire here's a pristine mix of an outrageous Stones song. The song's intro was influenced by the Velvets. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stray_Cat_Blues. Note graffiti "Bob Dylan's Dream" at 3:32. Not long after the Stones said they were dropping Brown Sugar from their set I saw Bob open with it. The jester indeed. Here's Bob on those bad boys: “The Rolling Stones are truly the greatest rock and roll band in the world and always will be. The last too. Everything that came after them, metal, rap, punk, new wave, pop-rock, you name it, you can trace it all back to the Rolling Stones."

Thanks purp. Beggars Banquet is a top 5 Stones albums for me. Starts off with the classic Sympathy and has some certified rockers like Street Fighting Man and Stray Cat Blues. And I love Jigsaw Puzzle and No Expectations, Dear Doctor and even Salt of the Earth. Just a solid album start to finish.

Interesting words from Bob and I tend to agree. The Stones had an outsized influence not only on their contemporaries but on several acts that came after, over the decades since they've been around. I still have the 45 single around here somewhere of Soundgarden covering Stray Cat Blues.

I'm sure you've seen this but what a great cover. Really highlights the frustration of the original, the tension is just simmering under the surface and not allowed to really resolve. Its a nice counter to Devo's frenetic interpretation.

@PurpleStorm - I woke up with this song in my head and I thought you might like it. Hope all is well with you.

Thank you my friend. Beautiful song, never heard it before. It won't mean a thing in 100 years. That's for sure.

It's funny, after spinning out from lack of sleep recently I decided to take a short walk. It was difficult. Felt like too much on my mind. No time for walking! Then the next day I tried it again. Felt a bit better. Then again the next day. And the next. One foot in front of the other. Starting to enjoy it more, and not thinking too much. I can have a tendency to overthink everything.

This song is a great reminder to let it go. Honestly hadn't heard much ever from this band apart from their radio songs. Love this one. Much appreciated jack. You're a real one.

@Luthien @BroRogan This song is for you both
