So according to this site (https://fightomic.com/ufc-finish-rates-by-weight-class/) the historical UFC stats are (as of february 1st):

Stoppages: 51.6% (32.4 (t)ko / 19.1 sub)
Decisions: 47.1%
Other (NC/DQ): 1.3%

Last 3 events:

Stoppages: 43.2% (29.7 (t)ko / 13.5 sub)
Decisions: 56.8%

So, it's obviously to soon to make any conclusions but do you think this bonus will make a difference?

I like the idea just because there's more money going to fighters but I don't think it will make a difference on the long run.

Once fighters smell blood they go for it, hard to think a guy is in there sure that he can finish a fight but chooses not to.

Show/win is what is really keeping fighters from going for it, it’s nice the UFC made a change with Bonuses but the show/win is still a problem imo. But then again even when fighters get paid well, some phone it in, Tyron Woodley is a perfect example of this, given the way he’s taken advantage of gullible promoters,

Yeah I've seen a 63% increase in "that look in their eye" before fights, they're seeing red looking for that bonus bro.

You dont see the full walkouts so the "look in their eye" statistic has been nullified

These fighters rather make 10k, failing weight, just to get an advantage to win. They will win at all costs. Especially lower tier fighters. Money won't make them fight more aggressive, even the ones who get paid just fight less.

No because 25k isnt worth over commiting and losing for. Sometimes finishes are counter productive to winning. They should make it a 100k then it would be way different.

This all day.

These guys are used like a commodity by the org and tossed in the bin the minute the UFC thinks they've extracted the value out of you. Going for broke will paradoxically lower your chances of winning more times than not.

Perhaps this gets guys who are down 2 rounds to go ham in the 3rd, but there is no magical "just choose to finish your opponent" gear.

Meaningfully increasing fighter pay so these guys are getting more than 15% of revenue and can commit to training year round like a professional athlete will garner better fights. It will also attract higher quality athletes to the sport. This 25k peanuts is publicity so they can point to it despite horrific revenue split for fighters.

I like the idea, but I've never thought it would solve the problem. Some fighters just will not fight the way people fantasize. A UFC title is worth more than a couple finishing bonuses and even then how many title fights have we seen that suck? You can't force these guys to go to war like berserkers without getting very heavy handed.

No, won't make any difference. Being a finisher was already worth more than that just in future contract negotiations, getting to a title sooner, endorsements etc, but some guys just dont' have natural KO power and aren't going to throw themselves into wild exchanges and risk getting KO'd for a chance at a bonus, and probably aren't going to risk losing position trying to force a sub that isn't there.

This is really just a pay increase for the guys who were already finishers.
