I thought it was impossible to miss that since he looked clearly stunned by it and immediately backed up to the fence

Did not see the fight, but come on, that Elbow was clear as day to the back of the head.

Fuck this and everyone just pretends it was nothing, JDS is done I give you that, but for the love of god either follow the rules or don´t make stupid rules.;

So the number 1 HW muay thai guy is a fat slob (the jelly on the right)

Damn HW muay thai is a joke worst than the UFC lol
No wonder why a big guy athletic like Gane manage to beat him fairely easy. That doesnt mean Gane striking is exceptional. He needs to works on his boxing if he dont want to get put in Pluto by Ngannou

This fatty is actually a freakin beast, has a great clinch work and huge cardio. I was surprised too.

JDS threw 0 strikes and just stood there like a player with the controller disconnected.

Hope you recover well Junior ,make sure to take some time off.

He’s washed up stop trying to put this on skill. He’s been knocked out his last 5 fights

It looked like it landed just behind the ear and JDS turned away which makes it legal even if it did hit the back of the head (it didn't though).

The jab I did notice, the foot I didn’t. That was a good catch. He is almost over-extending himself on the jab (chin over his knee), but he placed it well.

Stepping on other people's foot is a nice trick.
You normally learn it after a few months of training though. It just happens accidentally and then you know it works.
Always wondered why it isn't used much in mma, thought it was being barefoot and sweaty.

Tim for JDS to retire.

If you care so much bout the rules, learn them properly. It was a legal strike.

First off, I agree, it was a legal strike and you can see it hit the ear on the replay.

Not only that, but combat sports fans need to grasp precedent of how rules are applied.

I frequently see the whining about “back of the head shots” while fighters are standing. When has that ever been called?

I remember boxers being warned a few times for rabbit punches (in the clinch) but I have no recollection of anyone ever being called for a foul For a strike to the back of the head when both fighters where standing. Even George Foreman’s Knockdown of Joe Frazier which as I recall was pretty much directly to the back of the head, was ruled a knockdown.

Franklin got dropped and stopped by a punch that was in the back of the head area by TRT Vitor, ruled a KO.

Fighters on their feet are a moving target, often when they are hit in the back of the head it is due to them turning their head.

If there is precedent for standing back of the head shots ruled a foul in MMA, I would like to see it. Barring significant evidence to establish a precedent for the foul call, I will continue to assume that that foul won’t be called unless an EXTREMELY egregious incident happens where the fighter is quite clearly targeting the back of the head on purpose and not targeting the ear or the temple and the other guy turned away.

The jab that rocked JDS :

That trick is HIGH level standup.

Remember, Gane has only been doing MMA for 3 years, and he did Muay Thai before only for 3 years. He is a beginner in all aspect of the game, but a tremendous fast learner. After one year and a half of luta livre he was submitting UFC HWs.

I believe his weakness is his boxing, in the pocket. But he can learn if he spent some times in it. Sky is the limit for this specimen.

Right...had nothing to do with JDS mileage and overall lack of defense hes had his entire career..

Must have been the foot trap.....

Never change sherdog

Gane has a diverse offense but seems a little one dimensional to me. I know that sounds a little contradictory, but he seems too textbook and not very fluid.

Perhaps he’ll grow into the division with more experience.

Stepping on the foot is normal when a right handed fighter goes against a southpaw. Happens all the time. It never happens when both fighters are in the same stance.
