Social Socialist Ocasio-Cortez is actually financially set for life

I really hope you leftists will now stop whining about "giving her attention" and want threads dumped that make her look bad.

It's like you guys have bi-polar. One minute "stop giving her attention" and thread-whining wanting it dumped, next minute "she's the conservatives worst nightmare! her policies have them shook! Rock on baby!"

lol

First off you probably are defining leftist wrong and think CNN and MSNBC are leftists. They are anti AOC, real liberals love her and her proposals. CNN just did a town hall trashing the green new deal.

I mean Gore is irelevant to the substance of his argument. Most wealthy people have massive carbon footprints nothing uniquely horrid about Gore's.

It doesn't apply to Gore IMO but in general hypocrisy should give someone more credibility not less and I think ignoring someone's argument because they are a hypocrite is stupid. Sometimes hypocrisy is just necessary and in other cases it actually makes a person's argument more informed but for some reason hypocrisy discredits in our society.
Naw i don't agree with you there. I think Gore and particularly U2 are the perfect examples of people who should avoid those topics.

Imagine Bono showing up to your local gov't rep. Saying how everyone should give more to various world charities by proving a big share of State GDP and your tax money to those causes and while he is doing that and getting traction and an ear, he is locking up offshore trusts to shelter his own money as the changes are made. At that point, even if the causes he is pitching are sound I stopped listening to any message coming from him.

Actually there it makes sense cause generally liberals view charity as a way to get out of taxation. So I don't see that as hypocrisy even, that's actually standard operating procedure for much of the wealthy. It's not hypocritical at all they are hurting the government by getting a deduction to give to the less inefficient separate charities, sometimes overseas.

You're reaching and not well.

For instance U2 was advocating for more tax payer money to go to the UN and other charities while they moved their taxable income out of Ireland so they would not be impacted.

The point here is 'that does not make them a good messenger to the average citizen as someone who should convince them why they should accept their tax money going to the UN'. ' The average citizen will them to go f*ck themselves and stop listening to the pitch once they know'. If you won't you are in a small group.

This post confuses me.

Just wow, the push the powers are giving this women should be setting off alarms.

WASHINGTON – Netflix shelled out an eye-popping $10 million for rights to a documentary about young upstarts running for Congress starring Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Deadline first reported the amount the streaming giant paid for “Knock Down the House,” a film that followed four women vying for office during the 2018 election cycle.

The website said it was the largest sum ever brokered at a film festival for a documentary.

Of the four contenders, only Ocasio-Cortez won.

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival late last month.

Ocasio-Cortez was headed to the premiere, but pulled out a day before her planned appearance, citing “complications from the government shutdown.” The shutdown had ended the day before.

She instead appeared via video at the screening.

Since then “Knock Down the House” has won Sundance’s Festival Favorite Award.

How much is Ocasio-Cortez being paid for this film?

This post confuses me.
Bono usually, but often with the entire band (U2) would use their celebrity status to get meetings with gov' heads.

He probably had more private meetings with our PM, in Canada, Paul Martin, than any Canadian official did.

Bono would use his celebrity and suggest he could sway voters (particularly younger ones) and he wanted pledges for the gov'ts Ireland, Canada, etc that they would give more tax payer money to charities he was associated with like some UN ones.

while he was doing this, he and the band where busy setting up offshore holding companies to funnel their future earnings through to make sure their money was not taken for these causes and if taxes were raised to replace the money donated, that they (U2) would not have to pay them.

Thus why many say Bono (U2) is a terrible spokesperson for those efforts as he was setting it for OTHERS to do while ensuring he made sure he would not.

How much is Ocasio-Cortez being paid for this film?

0, the actual answer is 0. She doesn't get any money from this deal as that's not how documentaries work.

But @abiG doesn't care that he's posting easily proven falsehoods.

To answer exactly how much she will receive from films sale there's this:

"Rachel Lear, director of the documentary, told The Associated Press in an email that "none of our film subjects received or will receive any payment for participating in this project." Lear added that only producers, financiers and filmmakers receive payment from the sale of the documentary to Netflix. "
