The website said it was the largest sum ever brokered at a film festival for a documentary.


Of the four contenders, only Ocasio-Cortez won.


The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival late last month.


Ocasio-Cortez was headed to the premiere, but pulled out a day before her planned appearance, citing “complications from the government shutdown.” The shutdown had ended the day before.


She instead appeared via video at the screening.


Since then “Knock Down the House” has won Sundance’s Festival Favorite Award.

i think a socialist making lots of money is fine as long as they are not looking for exemptions to their policies to protect themselves. Socialists are not saying people should not make lots of money, they are just saying they should pay more if they do.

Gore is a bad example though. he was lecturing on carbon footprint and what 'you' can and should do while building one of the largest carbon footprints himself.

Bono and U2 would be a terrible example as they go around advocating for more taxes on average citizens while setting themselves up to avoid them in tax sheltering locations.

I mean Gore is irelevant to the substance of his argument. Most wealthy people have massive carbon footprints nothing uniquely horrid about Gore's.

It doesn't apply to Gore IMO but in general hypocrisy should give someone more credibility not less and I think ignoring someone's argument because they are a hypocrite is stupid. Sometimes hypocrisy is just necessary and in other cases it actually makes a person's argument more informed but for some reason hypocrisy discredits in our society.
