So u honestly think and with all respect to Fedor’s accomplishments and long reign

Fair point. So we could look at it in a couple ways. People like Fedor and GSP may have had the success they did because they had options. They were both very well rounded for their time, the average mma fighter had large experience generally in one aspect and was behind in others. So your response frames that point very well. At this stage, in a more even playing field, the results may be different.

The other side to that is that these men were both genetically gifted with solid IQ's as I suspect crocop and Nog were as well. With that said, if they were all exposed to the methods of today in order to give equal opportunity to all, I suggest that they may have still rose to the top. I think this invites a multi varied analysis which could include life long martial artists and sportsmen vs naturally talented people quickly prepared by schools with refined methods. It turns into a far more complex and interesting conversation if everyone taking part cares to be honest.

At the end of the day, I still think people should respect the roots of the sport and the people who left it in the ring every single time.

Well said...

I rarely disagree with you if ever lol But I think Francis would be a very tough fight for prime Fedor. It would be 50/50 at best. Francis is a different monster now than when he fought Stipe 3 years ago or so.
All Fedor Fandom aside, I agree that it’s a tough fight. If they fought 10 times, Francis almost certainly wins some of those. If they only fought once and I had to predict the winner, I’d go with Fedor as he’s the better overall fighter. Prime Fedor has a lot more tools than Ngannou does.

You are talking about mental strength to a guy with no future shovelling sand in Cameroon who walked across Africa to Morocco where he braced the immigration officers and crossed over illegally to Europe until he lives in a car park and finally gets to train in martial sports - all based on the one talent he had and the very far out dream that he could make it in martial sports one day. Who came back from abject defeat to miocic whom he underestimated and loss of confidence tht he displayed against Lewis and retooled and came back stringing off 5 KOs in seconds against the bes tin the heavyweight division to finally become champion.

This is the guy you think will mentally collapse at adversity? He has faced nothing but adversity his whole life...compared to his life what has any other ufc champion faced in their lives in terms of obstacles?

He did fold... That's a fact. No one is rubbishing how resilient he is in life. But when he lost he was badly affected. If he faces moderate resistance in the cage he will snap.

He didn't fold actually. Despite being taken down again and again and beig exhausted, ngannou went the distance and kept trying to the end against tmiocic in their first fight. Against Lewis he oercompensated and became too cautious and failed again as a result but for a diff reason. He was criticism heavily by dana white and many fans turned on him. However he buckled down and retooled his game especially in wrestling and cardio and fight iq and he came roaring back and knocked out five heavyweights in succession.he exorcised his worst experience by systematically beating up miocic and he will have his chance to exorcise the other one in his next fight.

Sure doesn't sound like a quitter to me...

Unless you live in a dream world where people dont have moments of doubt, don't have reversals of fortune and low times when they hae to dig deep from defeat to find heir way back....
