I usually can't stand these super fights but iila is an exception. He already ko the best of that division. Fw and lw are basically the same weight. 10 pounds is something but volk already showed in the first fight Islam is not unbeatable.

Islam said he wants to fight in June so I wouldn't be too surprised if they just end up rebooking the Arman fight for then. It's what makes the most sense regardless of Dana's feelings.

yeah UFC says shit all the time. Dana said Nunes would never headline again after pulling out and she main evented a PPV two months later.

I get they were pissed at Arman or felt he wasnt as hurt or maybe he was botching the weight cut and it was more that over injury, whatever. I get being upset at that but nah thats the best option if he's healthy. You cool down and you figure it out and if Islam can fight in June you go with that. But def think he needs three fights this year.

I think that’s very easy to say in hindsight after Islam nearly knocked his block off but prior to that rematch so many people said Volk won the first fight and Islam would never give him another opportunity. If he had fought Gamrot that night I strongly believe that there would be endless discussions about how he ducked Volk.

So you are saying had Islam fought the official already scheduled backup fighter in Gamrot when Charles gets injured, there would have been a credible arguement that he Ducked a fight with Volkanovski who was on the couch. Just because you want to believe it to be legit doesn't make it so. Think it thru based on reality and the facts.

Volk had 1 fight against Yair after his decisive loss to Islam. Was that really something that made him deserving of another LW title shot? The answer is no of course not. You are simply being silly or lazy or both.

A "Legit" defense is against a #1 contender. Sometimes you can't get the #1 guy but Islam has consistently chosen the easier guy. Maybe he didn't choose and it was the UFC but they skipped Gamrot who was the actual back up for a rematch with Volk a FW that he already beat who was not training at all at the time. They chose a lower ranked Moicano over Dariush. Benny has far better wins then Moicano and was ranked much higher for a lot longer. Moicano barely cracked the top 10. Benny has been in the top 10 for several years.

Islam chose Volk and Islam chose Khalil Moicano.

How all of that is Islam's fault ? Oliveira and Arman pulled out, Makhachev was ready, on weight and got into the cage. How him beating Volk and Moicano are not title defenses ?

Well yeah I can really only comment on the opinions shared here but while Volk definitely wasn’t deserving there was a large number of people saying Islam would avoid a Volk rematch at all costs because of how competitive the first fight was. It’s entirely hypothetical so it’s probably a pointless discussion but if Islam had fought Gamrot and his critics knew he was given the choice to fight Volk they absolutely would have accused him of ducking, thinking otherwise is just being dishonest. Whether there would be credibility to those claims isn’t really relevant I don’t think as his critics will say anything to discredit the guy regardless of how illogical it is.

I don’t think we’re talking about a small group of people here, most of the Islam critics were of the opinion that he would avoid Volk and they almost certainly considered the Gamrot fight to be the easier option.. right up until he knocked Volk out.

"Seems like"..... according to.... who? You made that up. Islam fought in June last year shortly after Ramadan ended, there's been nothing indiciated to this point that he would wait out until October to fight again.

No one was happy to see that Volk took the fight off the couch, shortly after his surgery, overweight, without proper preparation. People just thought it was ballsy and crazy, that’s why many of us wanted to support him.

Gamrot with full camp and fight ready, would have been a much better scalp, but of course some people try to twist that for some reason.

I just think it’s really easy to say all this in hindsight but when that rematch was made I don’t remember many, if any, saying Gamrot was the tougher fight. I could be wrong though, it certainly wouldn’t be the first time.
