So I just rewatched Khabib vs McGregor...

@Death By Samson
That literally means nothing, Conor was throwing wheel kicks at Holloway’s head with completely injured acl.
He was throwing spinning kicks at Mendes with a partially torn acl.

The fact you think that proves anything is actually laughable and only proves your ignorance.

Yeah, you think that he's bouncing around on a broken foot and throwing kicks with it right before a fight and I'm the ignorant one. Go ahead and get banned again.

You forgot round 3 where Khabib bitchsmacked McGregor and landed way harder shots.

Conor did fookiin nuttin.

Imagine having beef with someone and saying "lets fight, but no grappling"
Well have you never seen a boxing or kickbox match?

You know...................the SPORTS.

It's not like I was talking about street fighting.

The threat of the takedown in mma or a fight is a part of the stand up/striking. What use is striking in a real fight or mma if you cant implement it. Some people's grappling is so good it bleeds into their stand up and makes them out strike their opponent. This is what happened in the Conor Khabib fight

Always fun to look back at these fights and in hindsight, I think McGregor did a little better than I recalled.
I'll keep this short and straight to the point.

Round 1:

McGregor showcases some interesting takedown defense early but ends up pretty quickly on his back. He did retrieve guard on multiple occasions and ended up controlling the situation better than others have. Khabib landed nothing devastating, but Conor already seemed a little gassed after round 1.

Round 2:

McGregor did indeed get smashed this round. I was however, surprised by the speed at which Conor recovered from that overhand right. He got right back up and even landed one of his own before getting taken down. The onslaught of Khabib was ferocious, but many of the punches landed on McGregor's forearms and elbows (still hurts, but it's not straight shots to the chin).

Round 3:

McGregor visibly gassed and slower. Still manages to defend 3 takedowns, keeps the fight standing and lands more strikes than Khabib (facts). I do think the commentary was wrong at the time, Khabib didn't seem tired. I think he was just down to strike because he knew McGregor was too tired to hurt him. McGregor won the round.

Round 4:

McGregor looks defeated when Khabib takes him down. You can see a shift in his body language, the guy wants out. Khabib taps him moments later.

Honorable mentions:

1) Crazy how many times McGregor cheated in this fight. When you pay attention to it, it's insane how a point wasn't deducted. Foul after foul after foul.

2) I think McGregor can perform better in a rematch, but I don't see him beating Khabib.

3) Khabib slapped McGregor

Bless ya'll
I actually still thought Khabib edged round 3, but it was obviously close.

Well have you never seen a boxing or kickbox match?
.
Both these men compete in MMA, you can't be a MMA fighter and challange someone you have real beef with in the sport to a stripped down fight

Im old mang, my eyes aint what they used to be, cant see AV's for shit anymore.

You were correct. But his sarcasm was pretty subtle, and i used to think i had a pretty good sarcasm detector.
How old are if you don't mind me asking? I'm old myself. especially in this forum, I'm 46.

@Death By Samson
I never said he had a broken foot in the fight. He said he injured it 3 weeks out.

It’s not a crazy thought either since fighters fight with big injuries all the time.
In fact in the press conference he literally says in the camp he’s had “broken feet” lol.
Not saying that’s why he lost but thinking that clip proves anything is laughable.

The post that I responded to said "Conor was injured". It was posted in a thread titled "So I just rewatched Khabib vs McGregor..." So was his foot broken during the fight or wasn't it? Because he looks to be moving just fine prior to the fight to me.

He also mentioned a broken orbital during that press conference. It's amazing that there was no bruising or swelling.

If they had a straight up kickbox or boxing match who do you see winning?

I will never get over how hilarious khabibs little run over to McGregor looks

It still bothers me how people acted like Khabib was a superior striker to Conor.

He obviously couldn't implement his striking nearly so well with the obvious threat of Khabib's take downs![/QUOTE
Khabib was a superior striker to Conor.- says no one ever,
he is the better fighter

This is part of khabibs striking really. It's mma not boxing, so he uses the fake to land shots. Of course conor is the better pure striker. Khabib is the better mma fighter. The better grappler, the better defensive fighter. Conor landed very minimal shots on khabib, unlike everyone else he has fought. Khabib is better than conor at striking defense. I honestly can see no point in the future where conor will be able to overcome khabibs strengths and style. There have been many strikers that overcame the td threat in the past, but khabib is just better than the guys they overcame, and gets better every fight. I saw someone say conor figured out khabib in the 3rd but was gassed and he would take out khabib before then if they rematches... Thats nuts. Khabib let the fight stand, it wasn't conors great tdd. Khabib wasn't tired, but did take the round off to conserve energy for the championship rounds. Conor figured out that he had no answers, since a whole round of striking led to nothing for him.

He did good stuffing TDs in the first but the gap is to big for him to beat Khabib.

Conor figured Khabib out in round three, but was too gassed to emulate the success he had. Come rematch time, a fresh Conor will STOP Khabib before it could even hit round four.

He didn't figure anything out, Khabib just got a little tired of wrestling and GNP and took a break, just like he did against Al. Conor does not have the gas tank to take advantage of a situation like that. He has a punchers chance in the first two rounds and then his power is gone. It's why the Tony fight is so intriguing, that guy isn't going to slow down and can actually finish fights in the later rounds.

Agree with your analysis, especially how good his TDD defense was, for someone who has "Zero Wrestling" he made it one HELLUVA scramble in the first round, and it's honestly my favorite sequence throughout the whole fight aside from the Overhand.

Conor showed some good stuff, but Khabib adapted and once Conor was low enough he switched to a double. As DC put it, Conor got "Lost in the sauce" and it happens to the best of em, especially going against an ANIMAL like Khabib.

He was cheating during that sequence, so really his tdd should have looked good.

Its e very well known FACT that Connie fought on one foot ,4 ACLs injuries and a terrorist threat.

Next time Khabb is fooked.

Rematch Connie is indefensible!!!!
You realize indefensible means not able to be protected?

In that case, I agree.

Khabib figured Conor at the stare down before the fight started.

The same willl happen again and you’ll cry and come up with more excuses.

And we move on.

McGregor will not be getting away with the blatant cheating in a rematch, he will get destroyed in the first round.

It was one of the most satisfying fight ever. Years in the making and Conor fans discrediting Khabib. It was all worth it in the end.
