It still bothers me how people acted like Khabib was a superior striker to Conor.

He obviously couldn't implement his striking nearly so well with the obvious threat of Khabib's take downs!

Threat of a takedown is part of striking arsenal in MMA.

If it leads to Khabib being able to outstrike Conor and other strikers - well, it doesn't necessary mean he's the better overall striker because it's a rock-paper-scissors thing where he can't do it to wrestlers, but it's definitely a factor in evaluating Khabib's MMA striking.

I had a $5 bet that night against a friend that was a Conor Fan (i bet he is on this forum but wont admit it lol) But yeah, anyone that wasn't blinded by Conors fame, knew he was going to lose. He lasted longer then i expected, but i didn;t expect Kalabeeb to drop him with a punch, that was shocking.

That makes khabib a better striker. Takedowns are part of the striking game in MMA just like they are in the king fu that Cung Le was a world champion of.

Haven't watched the fight again, just watched it live but I agree with everything you said.

I do think the third rd could've gone either way, most of you guys think it was clear cut for conor. Prob need to watch that again.

I’d like to watch it again. These two conflicting styles will not provide a competitive fight regardless of who wins. Either Conor sleeps him or gets taken down and mauled. He’ll never be able to match Khabibs skill on the mat. Conor would fair better to be more offensive as he mentioned. Tough to do with someone like Khabib tho.

I agree, Conor cheated a lot that fight. Suprised there wasn’t ever a deduction.

I honestly believe Herb was told by Dana (or someone) to not acknowledge Mcgregors cheating if he was getting outclassed. Herb is a very inconsistent ref, but there were so many fouls that I have no other way of explaining why he never did anything, he was looking directly at them while Mcgregor kept on constantly doing illegal shit.

Just think how shocking it was for Conor's fans when he got dropped. One of my favorite moments in mma history. It would be even more shocking if Khabib ko'ed Conor in a rematch, I can only hope.
