That’s an amazing comparison.

It’s also like saying a football game doesn’t count because they shut the other team’s offense down and ran the ball until the could get a td or a field goal.

It not being fun to watch doesn’t mean the score changes.

I like it. I genuinely enjoy seeing a high level grappler smother someone who doesn't have the skills to get up more than I enjoy watching shitty striking, even if someone gets knocked out from that shitty striking.

However, I have to wonder how much of the UFC's new hiring practices are resulting in a lower level grappling than what we used to see. They're no longer trying to get the top fighters if it costs money and I think we're seeing the results of collecting lower-tier fighters.

O'malley barely threw a strike until rd 5 and if he opened up he likely would have won, Merab was gassed in rd 5 because he had staph. He was too afraid of the takedown to throw strikes and Merab took him down anyways. Not a fan of O'malley but he was the only one that landed anything significant in the fight. Scoring system is what it is.

I will say I disagree with the sentiment that the card was all trash tho. Watching Ortega get the piss beaten out of him is always nice. Also Rodriguez vs Osbourne and the Ribovics fight were both great.

I just know other than the Sphere being cool and 1 great round in the 2nd fight on main card - entire main card was boring AF

Yeah he was more cautious because he didn't want his lights put out.
He was never scared of that with Yan, and Aldi let him hold him against the fence so he didn't even have to change gears.

I dont think it was cos he "wasnt scared" its because it was easier to close the distance and safer for him to stay on the offense. With Omalley's long reach and one punch KO power he did things differently.
