So how does everybody think DC looked this time around at HW?

[

You really are a salty hater these days. If this was an easy match then what would you call Stipe's title fight against Francis? At least DC finished Lewis and didn't gas out by the second round hanging on for dear life.
At least Francis had the illusion of danger. People actually thought he'd beat Stipe and he actually had convincing wins over top competition. Stipe was the underdog

No one thought Derrick would win
He had nothing for DC
He got his ass whooped in all of his wins
He was like a 5:1 dog

Lmao thats because the standards are higher for DC. He completely dominated Derrick and looked great doing it. Stipe fought a similar(almost identical) style match up and looked terrible doing it. You hold DC to a higher standard because you know deep down he's the better fighter. The best thing for Stipe really is to let DC ride off into the sunset, and pick up where he left off before DC came to HW. He can regain some of the "illusion" of being the best HW, and not risk a second ass whoopin, which will no doubt leave you and Stipe is in a permanent state of depression and bitterness.

That Derrick actually deserved this fight more than stipe or Blaydes

Suspend your disbelief I suppose

Stipe got KO'd in one round. Blaydes has two wins over aging veterans who werent even in the top 5. Lewis had wins over the previous title challenger (who beat Blaydes) and the guy people were expecting to fight for the title next. He definitely deserved it.

Also I'm still wondering why people think Blaydes has anything for Cormier. At least Lewis had the knockout punch. Cormier is literally better everywhere than Blaydes.

He looked as good as he needed to look. DC knew how to handle this fight and that was to maintain distance standing and avoid any stand up and just get the fight down. He wasn't going to look overly impressive this way but it works and it's a easy fight.

because blaydes is young bigger than DC and is a great wrestler and has decent striking, I think he will dominate DC in 5 rounds maybe even tko him in late rounds

how good is hw Dc after 2 rounds? at 40 years old

its incredibly stupid to say his cardio looked better considering he barely went past the 2nd round in both fights

im sure he's harder hitting but there ain't anyone to truly to test him at HW because lets be honest the division is pretty washed, the only guy that could truly test him at that weight is Jones

Unknown, BB was so shit on the ground it was like a grown man fighting a toddler. Probably the easiest fight of DC's career.

He is likely to fight Brock not Jones. Extra weight would help him there.

On the contrary, I'd want Cormier to be as fast and mobile as possible against Brock. Trying to match his strength is not a great idea unless you're Ubereem. Far better for DC to try and limit the up close engagements to as little as possible, darting in and out as need be.

Brock would love for DC to get in close with him. He might have the larger reach, but he's not planning on jabbing DC to death.

He completely dominated Derrick and looked great doing it

He completed dominated him, but I wouldn't say he himself looked great. I didn't see the speed he showed even earlier this very year, he didn't have the pop on his punches everyone says he carries at HW, etc. Lewis just looked so bad and uncoordinated in comparison that it was more than enough regardless.

Whether or not this is simply because of the short notice or whether it's because DC is slowing down is the question I started this thread for. I don't like how DC looked, and think it's a good idea he is planning on retiring against an older Brock.

Younger, yes. Bigger is irrelevant, Cormier's entire career consists of fighting and ragdolling bigger fighters.

Cormier is the better wrestler. Cormier is the better striker. Blaydes has nowhere to take the fight where he could have the advantage. He has a punchers chance but he is not even a one punch knockout guy. This is not an interesting fight.

He looked fatter then ever. But he got the job done

He didn't look that bad considering it was pretty short notice.

How good is Blaydes? Cormier's cardio is proven, Blaydes is not. Lol this clearly isn't the fight to make if the only thing making it interesting is whether DC has gotten too old.

The fight was ONLY made because it was an easy fight, which was the ONLY way to get dc to accept it.

You can justify it in your head, but that's the real reason

I mean if you want to believe the UFC that's on you. But Blaydes and Stipe had better recent wins and performances. Not even close.

Lewis jumped to #2. It makes sense to fight the #2... What don't you get?
