So, Helwani Wants DC v Stipe...

1. On UFC Tonight there was a segment with DC and Kenny Florian making matchups for former champions. When Cain's name came up, sure enough DC plumped for pitting him with Stipe.

2. "American Kickboxing Academy’s Javier Mendez... believes Miocic vs Velasquez is the biggest heavyweight bout the UFC brass can make. “I think Stipe and Cain, in my opinion, is the only logical fight..."

Dream away all you want, Helwani, but when both DC and his coach wish for Velasquez vs Miocic, how in hell do you think Cormier will stop bowing aside and shove himself into the HW titleshot spotlight?

It's hilarious how many people are counting DC out of this one.

Are you saying the UFC doesn't need an angle to promote their fights and have more PPV buyers? They do. Therefore it makes sense. Its not really that hard to understand

The only "angle" needed for MMA is putting on fights people want to watch and pay money for, not these silly storylines and soundbytes and gimmicks.

TOP 2 P4P DC vs TOP 4 P4P Miocic (DJ #1 and Conor #3 before JBJ fight)

DC went undefeated at HW and is a beast, people seems to forget how Rumble was putting everyone to sleep and couldn't do shit to DC, even beat heavyweights (Arlovski, Linderman). I'm down to it.

DC has nothing for Stipe. Waste of time. Stipe has great wrestling plus a big size and strength advantage so that will at minimum neutralize DCs wrestling. And Stipe has FAR better standup with massive power. DC would get starched.

Stipe does not have a big size advantage. DC walks around at high 230s and Stipe at low 240s. DC would manhandle him, his wrestling is on a whole other level

DC's confidence isn't up there. Not to mention really bad and late TKO.. get the heck out.

Dude is trying to go after Volkan (thinks he can't wrestle) he doesn't even have the guts for Gus but you tell me he will go after Stipe that is a stronger version of Gus.. no way.

I would support this fight only if Rogan interviews the KO`d loser

Casuals wouldn't buy it and DC's coming off a KO that was so bad that it ceased to exist.

But they ARE needed for UFC to make money, and UFC are running the show. So you are saying it is indeed needed?

Thats high 230s on a 5'9 frame with about 40% bodyfat. Stipe is 245 spread over a 6'4 frame with about 15% bodyfat. That is a huge size difference. DC said one of the reasons he went to 205 is because he passed Arlovski in a hallway and was intimidated by how big he was and Stipe is bigger than Arlovski. When has anyone outwrestled Stipe even for 1 second? His strength and wrestling ability is immense. DC isnt manhandling shit.

stipes next fight will be with cain.. all this talk about super fights is just to keep his name in the news while his contract gets straightened out

I think I would favor DC, call me crazy but take away the tough weight cut and DC is stronger, faster and has more KO power at HW.

Stipe's a strong 6'4 if not 6'4.5

Stipe's reach 80.

Wide frame, big ass head with a strong jaw.

Was 246 lbs on his last scale and I suspect he packed a few extra pounds since.

Has very little fat on him, so it's not fake size it's all good solid mass.

Younger. Good athlete overall, good footwork.

Good cardio, especially for his size, he can go full 5 rounds and only got better since that JDS war.

Has some wrestling background, he won't gas out on you doing some hard wrestling he will compete with you and has some defense can get back up not just on strength but on skill to even if you outmatch him be sure you will not keep him down, you can score on him but as long as he has fight in him he will get back up.

Full of confidence, victory after victory and all with his strong hands best boxing in the division right now, way better punching power.

Then we have DC ?... older, fatter, smaller, just got badly TKO'ed, he is what around 230 lbs with no limit he might get to 240-245 lbs but be sure the fat will be all around it won't be optimal mass. Dude has 71 reach and is 5'10, not even a strong one at that might be just under even.
What is the plan, out-wrestle him for 5 rounds ? the younger bigger stronger guy ? he might score some takedowns he is the better of the two on it but be sure he won't keep him down for long and how many shots can he eat from Stipe at this point in both their careers. He won't take the fight c'mon now.

DC himself recently said he's not the same guy who went undefeated at HW. HW DC might beat Stipe, but I don't know about current, shrunken DC.

Are you a shareholder?

Stipe has crazy power the more I think about it. He one shot KOed Werdum who recently took shots from Reem without seeming affected. He also escaped Reem's guillotine, and he also knows how to perfectly attack people's weaknesses like he did in JDS 2.

<{pranko}>

Id bet big that D.C. will never accept this fight, but it'd be great for Stipe

Would watch.
