News Slim Trabelsi removed from UFC roster due to contract dispute

Never used to be a topic before the UFC took away that Dude Wipes and Condom Depot money ... just saying. In 2010 Slim Jims would've bought this guy out of his old contract in a heartbeat.
This right here is why the UFC is so sad. Fighters have so many natural sponsorship opps.

Your "little" brother looks even bigger than you.

What's his name on here?
Yeah my 19 year old brother is standing taller than me hahah, my older brother is even taller sir, he’s the tallest of the three, I’m the shortest<45>

I’ve advised him to wait with making a Sherdog acc until he’s 21 years old and entering his physical prime.
Username suggestions are welcome at all times ofcourse:)

Well Trabelsi is signed to ARES, so the promoter in question would be Fernand Lopez. I guess the UFC is playing hardball.
It's not the UFC, it's a spat between Ali & Fernand.

Ali basically swept in, stole Fernand Lopez's fighter even though he was under contract with him & his promotion, and knew that he was signed with Fernand, and now he's crying foul that Fernand won't let him go.

I was listening to Fernand Lopez's interview about this and I completely understand his point. You can't have people like Ali just pick up fighters who are under contract with other people and they're then under his control. A contract has to mean something.

Somehow this is probably going to come back to Gane, with his trainer manager being so shady

I get that some of you are going to be quick to say "Fernand's a scumbag" and you might be right, but I don't know him well enough to lean one way or another.

However, what I do know is his side of the story, which he elaborates on for close to an hour here:

There are subtitles, and while they're not perfect, they're more than fine. (I speak French, so I understand the interview without the subtitles)

I found him to be convincing and, most importantly, he has receipts. He has a signed contract to be Slim Trabelsi's manager, he has texts messages (which are provided in the video), etc.

What stood out to me is the principled stance he has: Ali, on multiple instances, has swept up fighters that were being managed by virtually unknown managers so that he could bring them under the Dominance MMA umbrella and the original managers were left holding their dicks. Fernand is standing up to Ali's bully tactics to tell him, if you want to steal my fighter that badly, here's the cost. If you don't want to pay that, he'll just have to respect his contract at ARES.

Not really new, it has been posted before. What he doesn't say:
-French law strictly prohibits to employ an undocumented immigrant, it is a felony.
-French sports regulation prohibits being at the same time manager and promoter of a fighter. Which would make the contract with ARES void based on informations given by Lopez.

Lopez has not answered these two points.

He'll fight out his contract and sign next year, I reckon.

So another case of the UFC fucking over its contractors in pay? Colored me surprised.

I think in this case it has to do with the dude being signed to another promotion and that promotion demanding a monetary compensation to let him go and fight in the UFC.

If anything UFC should have reached the other promotion first.. they can't bully people out of their contracts.
