Skyrim Special Edition

LOL @ fus ro da-ing Lydia.

That hot bitch was always in the way, though. She disappeared / died pretty soon, which is a shame.

I married that cute hunter chick (Alea I think) but just leave her at home next to the fire, ha. Can't have these hot bishes in the way all time.
I married Njada but she was a bitch, always nagging about something. I gave her three fucking houses and she still wasn't happy.

been catching more weird glitches:

- wife and bard from one Hold disappeared from the house. I was afraid they had been killed but I found them in the front gate (next to the blacksmith) of Whiterun. They were stuck there for some reason. Asked her to move to Solitude house to fix it. They were fine in Solitude but my wife would sleep in the sleeping bag in the basement instead of the master bedroom. wtf bitch! I spent all this dough so you can be comfortable!!! she seems to be standing around a lot now instead of doing random work and things.. kinda odd... maybe she's cheating on me??? I moved them to Markarth but think I'll make them move again.

- one of my missions is glitched. found the shout but the marker won't go away. annoying.. I ran around the area for at least 15 mins before looking online and it turns out to be a glitch.. SOB... I have another mission glitch stuck on the beggar in Malkarth

- The game managed to killed Shadowmere (horse). So the horse is not invicible but he resurrects supposedly. Loaded my game while I was with Shadow and some weird glitch upon loading made shadow and I float upwards in the air. I think I got on or off shadow but we ceased to float. I landed and survived but shadow died. Restarted the game several times and was able to get out of the glitches before we floated away. really weird.

Question - there's an entire 2nd island I haven't explored yet. Went there roamed around the town for a bit then scuttled back to the mainland to work on my current missions. Is that an extra DLC? Should I wait till I finish most of my missions before going there? Sounds like a silly question cause I know I can do anything I want but just wondering...
I've had all those as well. By the end of both of my playthroughs I had a bunch of quest markers that wouldn't clear even though I finished them, Shadowmere has been known to glitch out sometimes, the island is one of the DLCs (Solstheim), and most importantly, don't trust bards! Those fuckers are always creeping around other dudes' wives, reading poetry and crap.

I'll focus only on the last part of your post. If by second Island you mean Solstein then YES, it is the home of the Dragonborn DLC. You don't have to wait to go there but be sure to have a powerful character because enemies are tougher. There is also a lot of "story telling" and discoveries you'll make on yourself and other Dragonborns, it's a really cool DLC. You're better to focus entirely on it: go there, follow the "Dragonborn" quest markers but don't be afraid to explore. Talk to the blacksmith, he has a brother in Skyrim and he will open up a good quest for you.

Don't let minor annoyances like glitched missions ruin your fun. I know there are still some "game-breaking" glitches but most of them are only annoying, rarely game-breaking. Have fun with the Dragonborn DLC: at the end, you'll be able to "respec" your character and that's where the real fun begins!

I encountered a something weird last night on the mission Bloodborne. I had previously traveled to this castle with the boat and the guy wouldnt let you in. Now that i met Serana and had to take her to the Castle which is her home he still wont let me in. There is no dialogue. I read that this is a glitch since i already traveled there I will never get her to say" hey wait here" for the guy to open the gate.

Will it just stay as a main mission that was never completed? Kind of a bummer, but im still enjoying this even though i suck at it.

Looked it up for you. You can fix it 2 ways:

- do the plate glitch. Hold a plate against the door and whirlwind sprint through it. Check YouTube for details.

Or

Copy/paste from the pages bugs list -

- If you cannot enter Castle Volkihar with Serana for the first time, open the console and type: player.moveto 020033b3 this will start a load screen and once loaded you should be inside the castle foyer. But Serana will not be with you, so then type: prid xx002b74 press enter, then type: moveto player and this will bring Serana to you inside the castle foyer. The quest will carry on normally from here, as though the two of you had entered through the door normally.

Sometimes the gate to Castle Volkihar does not open after the gate keeper says his line, or does not say it at all. This can occur if Castle Volkihar is discovered beforehand, although this is not proven, nor has this yet been addressed by Bethesda.

  • Fix: Type in console: setstage DLC1VQ02 10. After doing so, select the gate while in the console and type disable. You will be able to continue normally.
  • Fix 360: When Serana initiates the conversation about Castle Volkihar while still in the Crypt, finish it as normal and then DO NOT initiate any other conversation with her! Leave the Crypt and go to Volkihar Castle. (You might also get there by swimming instead of fast travel or using the Icewater Jetty.)
  • Fix: Use a plate to go through the gate into the castle. The quest will continue as normal

Doing a playthru as a mage/enchanter. Using a lot of destruction and conjuration spells atm. My goal is to get the 2 enchantment perk, then make heavy armor sets with reduced costs to destruction and another spell tree. I should be able to negate all mana costs for destruction spells, so I can toss unlimited fireballs with one hand and either heal, frenzy or summon with the other. Once I get there, I’ll probably stop investing in increasing mp during level ups and boost hp and stamina and try fighting with weapons for a bit.

Got the homestead near Solitude over the weekend. That’s going to be another time sink, lol.

That's a sound strategy. Remember that by the time you get the 2 enchantment perk, you should be experienced enough to be able to cast every spell. Unless you're power leveling. Whatever's the case, you won't need to enchant items with fortify magic school by the time you get there.

The exception is of course Destruction spells. If you're a specialist mage, you need to make them cheaper to cast. Especially constant damage spells like Flame. Don't worry about Conjuration: Frenzy is not cheap but you don't need to spam it like Fireball. I'd enchant items with a survival enchantment like resist magic or resist fire instead, you can never negate too much damage.

Put Fortify Destruction and Resist Magic instead of 2 fortify enchantments! Remember: resist magic also protects you against all Dragon breaths, where Resist Fire only protects against Fire breathing Dragons. As for HP and Stamina, you should not need stamina. Even if you want to fight melee, stamina is only useful for power attacks. It's a must for a 2-hand build but not for a mage who wants to fight once in a while..

If you're going to switch class, do it the right way and respec your character after Dragonborn DLC...

huh. so different women will treat you differently as wife? I am gonna have to marry someone with a mean attitude next time. Married Ysolda from Whiterun. She's sweetest wife. And she does trade so everytime I come back I can sell off the surplus I don't need. I still think she's cheating on me with the bard... or bards..

It's only a couple of lines of dialogue but yes, some women are nasty. I don't have specific examples because I rarely marry. Last time I did, it was with Mjoll and she's a sweetheart. You might say that she uses her strong exterior to hide the little child within!

That said... what's the easiest way to get the Enchantment skill tree, well, up?

Is that a pun or a real question? I'm ashamed to say that I have no idea who the guy in the picture is...

Chris Hansen.

It's a legit question. I usually go full melee and take the enchantments I am lucky enough to loot. Want to manually do it myself this go around.

Even with the name, I had to google him to find out. I have been without TV for 15 years, I'm little out of touch with pop culture. You have way more chance of having me guess a name if you post the picture of a Skyrim Character!

The fastest way to level up enchantment is to go on a crafting spree. I say that because it's a waste of time to level up enchant without leveling up smiting and speech at the same time. I also add Alchemy in my crafting run but you won't need it. You can wait a little before leveling up speech if you want to get back to playing ASAP.

Short story long: start by collecting Iron Ingots. Melt ore to smelt them if needed. Store them until you have enough (100 is a good number). Now, you have to find soul gems. Filled soul gems of the petty kind (cheaper and easier to find). If you can collect 100 that's good but you won't need that many I hope!

Now craft as many iron daggers as you can. Don't forget to sleep in a bed and activate the warrior stone to boost your XP beforehand. Your smiting skill will increase drastically. Once done, time to enchant the daggers. Bring all you can carry to the nearest crafting station and go on a spree. Be sure to switch your standing stone to "mage" as enchant is a mage perk.

Favor "banish" and "soul trap" enchantment, they give very expensive items. Craft as many as you want: 2 or 3 should be enough to go up a level at first but the higher you get, the more you'll need to level up. Craft daggers until you're bored or have reached your goal.

Now, store the daggers you can't carry and carry the rest around for a Merch run. Be sure to change your stone to "thief" since speech is a thief perk. If you know where most specific mechants live, it's just a long trek across Skyrim. You will start leveling up speech, don't be scared to put a perk or two if you want to make the process faster.

It's a little complicated but once you get the hang of it, it's like 2 hours of boring stuff for a whole gameplay of enjoyment!

I've already got my smithing at like 95 but enchanting is pretty damn low, in like the 20s. Ugh... time to go get a shitty soul trap spell and Azura's star

You better go for petty and lesser gems. Azura Star is a must but it's a little wasted if you're collecting petty souls with it. When you do a Merch run, be sure to stop at every mage shop to buy all the common gems and below. Keep them on you, they weight next to nothing. You don't need strong enchantments for items you're selling, you're gonna make bank anyway.

Keep the Black and Grand soul gems for your own items or items you give to your follower.

I know about not needing the super strong enchantments.. Oblivion was the game I got deep into enchanting.

Do I need to up my magicka count to get better enchantments or is it down to my soul gems?

I vaguely remember Oblivion, I only played a dozen of hours.

Your enchantments strength is relative to your Enchant level and the soul gem you're using. Magika is only used to cast spells. Black soul gems are the best to enchant strong items but they must be filled with Human souls. Don't go casting soul trap on a wolf if you're only carrying Black Soul gems: the soul will fill the Black gem but it will still be a petty soul!

Oh I know about ranking for souls and shit... this isn't my first rodeo...

I just hate having to use spells... Need the soul trap shout or a weapon that traps souls that isn't a POS.

Mace of Molag Bal. I used this briefly till I found a very powerful soul trap bow and never looked back.
