Skyrim Special Edition

Never done that either. I always end up giving up on the thief questline or becoming the guildmaster. Maybe I'll kill them all when all is said and in this playthrough. I will unlock the fence for each hold and upgrade the Flaggon but after that, all bets are off!
Yeah I know that was an option for the Dark Brotherhood but not for the Guild.

One of the things that annoyed me about the essential characters was how they made all the commanders in the Imperial & Stormcloak camps essential, so you could never clear them out. It felt pointless.

I don't think it's a real option for the guild. I've never done it but I doubt the guild keeps running smoothly if you start killing members. I don't really remember who's essential but I doubt you can take over completely. For me, as long as I can still sell stuff to the fence in each hold, I'm good.

There's a mod that allows to kill essential NPC but there's no real alternative: once the NPC is dead, you can't replace him. Essential NPC don't have scripted replacement like many killable shopkeepers...

For the camps that changes after the civil war is complete.

Also there was a mod for the original that let you kill off the thieves guild and stick it to Maven. Hopefully it gets redone for the SE.

I remember completing that quest line and them still being essential, at least on consoles. Maybe that was patched afterwards.

Man, the vampire killed everyone at Whiterun Stables in my game. Then I met the Revelers who wanted to have a drink with me and they were killed by a bear on the way. It's a miracle anyone who isn't a superhero actually lives in Skyrim.

Man....

Being a thief/assassin is a biatch in dungeons with a follower.

Not sure if I played a level that was too hard but I tried to join the companion and had to clear a dungeon with Farkas. It was going alright for a while till I reached an area where I had to fight 4-5 of them. I tried to stealth kill them with the bow but as soon as I would hit one they would come hunting for me and Farkas would stand his ground and try to fight everyone. I simply wasn't strong enough of a level to handle more than 1 at a time in melee and I was even getting 2 shotted by anyone with a giant sword. Tried running away and wait for my stealth to come back but Farkas would run to me and bring all those fukkers along with him and blow my cover. I must have died 20+ times trying to figure this out.

I finally found a small dark corridor, closed the door and waited at the far end for Farkas to limp back to me. He opened the door with 2 guys chasing him and I started firing arrows. Was able to bring both guys to really low HP before they realized I was there and finished them off with my sword and shield. 3rd enemy came running in (but I had wounded him earlier) so he got an arrow right in between the eye. Saved the game and finished off the last 2 easily with a fully healed Farkas.

That was frustrating. I like having a follower because they are useful mules but my fighting style is preventing them from being super useful in actual fights. I am going to have to tell my follower to wait somewhere while I clear an area and then tell him/her to follow me again.. arggghh.. seems painfully annoying.

Yeah it's one of the things about the lore I don't understand. How can anyone ever travel. Unless you have like 10 armed guards with you it's a guarantee that you'll be killed or end up missing.

Hey, if you go to jail, you have a chance of being someone special. I'd just keep getting locked up until I got Dragonborn lol.

Any other PC players feel like they're kind of in limbo with Skyrim at the mo? The new version doesn't have the old mods (yet), so there's now no definitive, best version of the game. It's probably gonna be 6 months before I give this a go, hopefully the modders move faster though.

i feeel ya. There's some good mods out right now, but in a few months there will be a lot more that aren't only better, but more polished.

Currently i cannot use nexus mod manager anyway due to their site having to much traffic, so their mod downloader isn't working so i can't mod anyway lol

I figure I've gotta wait at least a month before I play it. Which breaks my heart bro

The bottleneck is SKSE 64, the devs said it might not be until early next year.

Honestly, I tried the special edition, and I can handle OG for now. the only real difference is the draw distance, it's actually farther than the highest DynDoLOD settings, which I find amazing. I'm not too beat up about it in the interim though.

That always makes me mad in my games. I always end up re-loading a save until I can save them. Well accept the one women in the Dawnstar animal pen. She is going to die no matter what because Saber cats or Skeever, or Trolls always wonder in there.

For me it has not been an issue, but I also might be the only Skyrim PC player that never used some popular mods like SkyUI.

I know. WTF is that all about? It is fun to just keep beating the shit out of them though.
