also, if you're playing Skyrim for the first time, I'd suggest going the thief route, or thief and magic. The warrior subquests for the companions are very bland and the gameplay is very repetitive.
With thief you'll have access to the thieves guild, it's subplots, makes the assassins guild more enjoyable, soloing dungeons more immersive and you'll get more use out of the sneak, assassination and archery mechanics, which imo are the highlight of the game.
My last play through I was an archer that also ad maxed out Two handed so when things got close I pulled out he greatsword and was usually decapitating people.Doesn't everyone just do all of the faction quests?
I agree on the archer being the most fun build though. It never gets old sneaking around, and sniping fools. I played a mage on my second playthrough, and while it's fun playing God(they're seriously overpowered), there isn't much in the way of equipment, which makes questing kind of boring. Once you do the mage's guild quest line, and get the reward, you're pretty much set for the rest of the game. I don't need any weapons either, so crafting doesn't matter. It's fairly boring being a mage.
I never did play a melee character, because I find the melee combat to be fucking atrocious.

I wonder if they patched the fortify restoration exploit? That thing was game breaking.I haven't played this game in so long but I am anxious to give it another go around. I remember being very disappointed with magic in Skyrim. I also remember Blacksmithing and Enchanting being crazy powerful.

i dont think i even finished skyrim tbh and def did not play the DLC's. this is a day one purchase for me
As long as you can't do all that in a loop and become exponentially more powerful.Even without it, the unofficial patch fixes it, Smiting and Enchanting is really powerful. All you have to do is max out both and then enchant some clothing with fortify smiting and you can make really strong weapons and armor. Combined that with some enchants to your armor to fortify one handed, two handed, or archery and you can easily have weapons doing 300 damage per hit.
Let your family know where you are so they don't worry about you. It's very easy to get immersed into it and hours go by like minutes. I'm excited to "return".

For those of us of the PC Master Race you can pre-load Skyrim Special edition now, so you are all set to play tomorrow.
Looks good and all, but with 200+ hours put into the original(and counting), I doubt I'll be picking this up.
I feel like I'm going to be MIA a for while... dead to society come Saturday lol.Put in so many hours into this game, but enough time has passed to where I can replay it without the game being stale.
Hope the Mods live up to the hype.
Activated my key for the LE so I'm just waiting for the pre-load to show up now. They are apparently releasing them in waves.
