Skin infections from jiu jitsu

Joe,

Our equipment spray is great for gloves, heavy bags, headgear and benches. It is not good for walking surfaces, especially wrestling mats. The spray is oil based which is good for leather but not so good for rubber mats. They become slippery.

Our actual mat cleaner is still awaiting EPA labeling approval. Talk about nightmares.

This thread is proof positive that Guy is awesome.

And you'll see for yourself how good Defense Soap is soon enough.

I live in Canada and shipping can be a pain. But I still think it is worth it. The bars last a really long time, too.

defense shower gel is the shit. I have never got even the slightest skin infection since using it. I just recieved my second gallon of shower gel- the first one lasted close to two years.
the time I started using defense was when my baby was born and now I tell everyone to use it
it should be the first thing you buy for bjj

Yeah thats the one. So what did your recon turn up Guy?

I use soap and water. Works so far. And our gym cleans the mats before every class.

I encourage you to look at the concentration levels of the TTO plus EUO. Our soap has the maximum amount possible.

If you ever want to order from Defense shoot me an email and we will find the best way the get the soap to you. Many of my Canadian customers will go in with a few of their training partners to help deflect some of the shipping costs. I can get 30 bars in a flat rate box which costs the same as shipping 5 bars up North.

I recently about 2 months ago came down with the worm on my neck. After rubbing it down roughly with a towel and pouring peroxide on the wErm, (did this about 6 times over an hour) the wErm still remained and was still seeping out that clear ooz and the ring was brighter and itchyer than ever. So next, i went to walgreens and the pharmacist recomended lotrimin and athletes foot spray to kill the rw. She says her son wrestles and this is her own "cure" for it and it works like a charm. So i buy the special rw brand of lotrimin and the biggest tube they had along with athletes foot spray. I would apply the lotrimin a few times daily and spray my neck at night. Did this for about 2 weeks and I still had the wErm!!!! The itchyness and oozing went away but still had a big red pimply ring.

I was surfing on the ug and seen that guy was talking to joe rogan cause joe was thrilled about one of their products thats used to help tatoos stay clean and uninfected. In the thread, Guy gave his email address and said hed send out samples to a few ppl that emailed him. I was thinkin why not give it a shot. Everything else failed me and if the Defense Soap didnt work at least i didnt waste any more money. A few days later I recieved 4 sample bars of soap and 2 sample bottles of the shower gel.

After my FIRST use the puffiness was gone and my rw was no longer itchy. After my next use, the rw started peeling away and the ring got waaaaay smaller (AFTER 2 USES).
Continued using the soap, and after my 4th day of using it all you could see on my neck is what appeared to be a small pimple. 2 days after the pimple thingy was there, the whole rw was GONE.

I dont get paid or anything like that from Defense Soap to endorse their product, but hell, ill do it for free. DEFENSE SOAP IS THE SH*T.

Are you guys fermiliar with the saying " you get what you pay for" well with ds you def get what you pay for. People are saying its expensive but anything that actually does what its suposed to do and works great you shouldnt mind paying for. The only soap that I use is Defense Soap, because it actually works and helps protect my body and will not have me not being able to train due to a fungus/staph/ringwerm infection.

Any one that does any form of grappling should invest in some Defense Soap. Im glad I did and will NEVER go back to regular soap.

Thanks to DEFENSE SOAP for keeping me clean and fungus free.

Guy, your a great dude and everybody should be appreciating what you are trying to do for the sport.

thank you Guy and Defense Soap!!!!

Thanks for the offer. I may take you up on it... most likely the next time I have a problem!

Thanks for the support Sean and CMON.

We have been supporting BJJ / Grappling / Judo athletes, organizations, and acadamy's for several years now and will continue to do so!

I was reading this post....

"Bad germs or transient flora, live on the SURFACE of our skin. They are responsible for infecting us when they enter our bodies through various "portals of entry" (eyes, ears, nose, mouth, cuts, etc). AthleticBodyCare kills only the bad or transient flora, not the good or resident flora.
In fact, there is really no way to kill the good flora since even after a five minute surgical scrub by a physician, the resident flora still exists. There is no way anything alive can be sterile (absence of ALL organisms). Surgically clean is the best you can get, and that is after a five minute scrub with surgical soap and a BRUSH."

Just a couple questions for you.

1. If I were to read and believe this I would have to assume that soaps don't effect our normal skin flora at all. If this were the case then this whole over using antibacterial products movement would be a hoax. What are your thoughts on strong antibacterial soaps depleting the skins normal flora leaving a fighter at risk?

2. How do you know what bacteria ABC actually kills and doesn't kill? Staph is a part of many people's normal skin flora. Are you saying ABC doesn't kill Staph or does it?

Adam,

I have a challenge for you. Let's both of us send free samples to Sherdog readers and have them compare our products side by side. We can start a new thread and dedicate it to sample results.

athletic body care might make good products but i stick with what i know works and its defense soap.....which company was formed first?

Defense incorporated 11-1-05. We actually were selling soap the summer of 05. I started out carrying 20 bars in little six pack cooler and selling them at wrestling practice and tournaments. It was in November that we actually became a company.
