Skin infections from jiu jitsu

I got mrsa this year from a dirty gym.. redundant but go to the doc, just like the wu, it ain't nuttin to fu!!$$ck with

Use it after. Make sure to shower with it within two hours of training.

They are actually supplying our tournament with wipes, so guys can wipe down after each match.
 
is there a particular brands for this defence soap or is it just called defence soap. Im going to the doctor soon ill let you know what it is...
 
i went to the doc and he said i have impetigo which is the same as staph he told me. It pisses me off that somebody at my club is spreading this around.
 
Look up the different skin infections that are common amongst wrestlers. Staph is pretty common, make sure you are taking proper care of your own hygiene (showering, washing, etc.) and that mats are properly sanitized.

I take myself for one clean mofo, and I still have gotten staph and some other nasty skin infections. Keep an eye out for open sores, and don't take blood on the open mat lightly. The last thing you want is some inconsiderate assholes herpe-syph-illitis.
 
yeah im a clean person myself, i have good hygene thats why i cant understand how i got this. It has to be someone at the club spreading this. We always clean the mats after training, our coach takes proper precaution but what can you do if someone is spreading it.
The doc told me to get this soap and he prescribed me cream for the sores, hopefully heals up soon so i can get back to training.

Not to be a party pooper but what does defense soap use that other anti-bac soaps don't? Does it contain an anti-fungal agent? I ask because you claim it saved you from ringworm. I highly doubt defense soap would do anything different than other soaps when it comes to fungal infections, with the major fighter being the friction hat washing well with any soap creates.

Again, not hating but sounds like there might be some misinformation going on here.

Edit: Was just checking their website and it does look like they include anti-bac, anto-virus and antifungal ingredients. Not sure how effective they might be in th quantities they use or the ingredients themselves, but they do have something.

Thanks for the heads up! It was funny, yesterday my mom, who's a doctor, brought some Defense Soap to me as she is adamant on protecting against skin infections/diseases.
 
I would like to shed a little light on this topic.

Classification of Staph is merely the shape of the bacteria. Staph has a hooked tail. Staph can range from pimples to MRSA.

Impetigo is an open sore that gets a golden crust on it. When you peel off the crust there will be a clear discharge that will harden and form another yellow crusty scab.
Impetigo is very simple to get rid of. Go to Walgreens or CVS and look for neosphorin. Don't buy that; look right next to it for polysphorin. This antibacterial ointment is developed specifically for the bacterium that causes Impetigo. Incidentally this is the same bacterium that causes strep throat. If you are around anyone with strep throat be cautious of any open sores.

Another great product that can be found at Walgreens is their triple antibiotic ointment. This is a combination of three ointments that will cover more of the bacteria gambit. It wouldn
 
im gonna go and get some defence soap asap, the doc told me to get phisohex which is a anti bacterial face wash but he told me to wash my whole body with it, should prevent staph he said.
I am also gonna use a different rash guard everytime i train, i only have the 1 rash guard, this may help prevent it too.
 
Is this much more common in no-gi classes or should gi practitioners be just as worried?Thanks.

I have some small red areas on my legs, most of them can`t even be felt, just seen. After reading this thread (didn`t know the signs of staph untill i read here) I began to wonder if that`s what it can be. I want to be sure before I contact a doctor since the last time two times (unrelated matters) I have been there they haven`t helped me , and treated me like an idiot.
 
That Defense Soap actually looks really good but you can get a soap with the same active ingredients from Trader Joe's for $1.50 (the tea tree one).

You have to check the amount of active ingredients. We have a full 2%. Most soaps you find in stores have a .1%. We are 20 times stronger. Plus we have the combination of TTO and EUO which provides a broader range of protection. Our soap is made in a FDA approved facility. That may not seem important but what that ensures is consistency.

NEVER use an antibacterial before you train. This strips your skin of its normal flora that protects you from infection. Clean after you train. Of course if you are a stinky mess before you roll you will need to bathe for your partner
