So, I was hitting the weights today, and noticed something....I lift a lot more weight than most guys who are somewhat bigger than me (no, not "fatter", they appear to be more muscular)...why is this? I am not "cut up", if anything, I am closer to Fedor's body appearance....I am not asking this question specifically for me, but just in general....

Scientifically speaking, why is this? My friend is the same way. He is only 5"9 175 pounds, but can put up more weight than guys with little body fat who weigh around 190-200.

Training methods, what routines they used to achieve their physiques, etc. Did they train for hypertrophy or strength? Also some people are just genetically gifted with strength at lower bodyweights or even higher bodyweights.

I lift in sets of 8, 6, and 4....explosive lifts with slow releases...heavier weight...I guess this could have something to do with it?

Bodybuilders usually train in the 8-12 rep range, while actual lifters train below 6 and normally lower on their main lifts. The former's goal is increased muscle size while the latter's is increased weight lifted. Now which do you think will most likely be stronger based on their routines?

I'm guessing by experience that the below 6 range focusing on increased weight is going to be the stronger group....at least, that's how it appears with me and my friend.

im guessing it;s because strenght is a neuro-muscular effect, and by observing size and body fat % you can tell how much muscle mass they got approximatelly but you can not approximate the efficiency of ther nervous-sistem just by looking... so where someone lacks in muscle mass he may make up in neuro-efficiency

If you are banging a 4'11" thai prostitute your cock will look huge, but it's decieving because she is so small. Also I hear shaving makes it look bigger.

Sorry I had to.

Anyways Salta is right. Kind of like having a 12 year old kid with an indy car, lots of potential becasue of the car, but the driver isn't trained to use it and will thus still be slow.

Hooray for good white belt posts!

Bravo. This is true, I generally walk around at 200lbs during fall and winter months and cut down in spring-summer to around 180. There are guys in the gym who have arms 2x the size of me but cant come close to matching my deadlift, ohp or weighted chin numbers. I've not even going to mention atg squats because no one else at my gym does them.

Epic.

I know a guy that is 5'7 and is no more than 155.

He does chin ups with 70lbs
Bench with 100lbs DB
Shoulder Press with 90lb DB
Squats 4 sets of 8 with 275

The guy is way stronger fuctionally than most guys that are 200 pounds in my gym.

IMO how you look is all about what lifts you do and your genetics.

Also, you look bigger when yo have hyooj arms and chest but no back and twiggy legs.

He is way stronger relatively.

In most gyms (or schools) in my case, it definitely comes down to genetics. Tons of kids are bigger than me (WAY bigger), yet I have the second highest squats/dl in the school.

Genetics.

Take your fucking retardedness back to your shitty log.

If you disagree with that statement, walk into any 24 hour fitness or high school around America. The majority of people lifting at a beginner/intermediate level have extremely deceptive size/strength ratios.

Blow me.

And this has what to do with genetics? Did you eat a bowl of dumbass for breakfast?

I'd rather not blow you, your first time should be with someone special.
