Rugby Six Nations 2025

Yeah he's historically a very good coach. The current state of Welsh Rugby goes beyond him. Really a consensus doesn't seem to have emerged of exactly what is wrong with Welsh Rugby, this is the worst it's been in 144 years, it's an unusual situation and my rugby knowledge isn't sufficient to explain it. Maybe because there are multiple things seriously wrong at the same time.

Gatland probably should have gone last year. He's 61 now, let's see if he goes and coaches somewhere else and see how he does there.

I'm curious how many games Wales can lose in a row as well. I just don't think changing the manager is going to make much of a difference, which would also tend to exonerate Warren.

I'm geographically biased but my opinion is that no good coach comes out of the Waikato. Ref: Mitchell, Fozzy and Gatland

I would love to be rich, and just have full free time to watch as much sport as I want.

Anyway about to catch Wales vs Ireland live (on TV). Wales are going to lose, and they are going to lose badly. The question is just how bad is it going to be?

They have no realistic chance of winning, and it would be amazing if the match were even competitive. At this point I just want them to show us they are still in the game mentally. I want to see some guts and determination to at least let Ireland know they are in a game, and for Wales to represent their fans in the capital. Some big tackles. Running their hearts out. Playing positively and showing some hope for the future.

England and France are both solid favourites this weekend, although neither match should be a walkover. Looking forward to the Calcutta Cup in particular - Scotland won the last four, and I feel it's time for revenge! <sniper>

Let's go!

Edit: It's Wales's first home game of the tournament too.

Amazing first half from Wales! They showed self-belief and took the game to Ireland. Clever tactics and getting a helping hand from an Irish yellow card completed the cake and at half time it's 13 - 10!

Ireland gave away a lot of penalties. Their scrum has been weak. Wales got a penalty close to the posts and WENT FOR THE TRY and got a converted try after 40!

Can Wales keep this level of control in the second half? Or will Ireland's depth and class pull them back ahead. 🤔

The yellow card has been upgraded to a red! We've got ourselves a rugby game!

Well Ireland weathered the storm and took over and ended up winning comfortably, as we always expected. However one Hell of a performance from Wales, that's exactly what we wanted!👍

Weekend Three, Day One Results

Wales 18 - 27 Ireland
England 16 - 15 Scotland

England pulled through in a neck-and-neck battle! No first time five-in-a-row for Scotland! Scotland are looking improved this year, but England are staying in touch at the top of the table!

Weekend Three, Day Two Results

Italy 24 - 73 France

Brutal

The highest-ever score in the Six Nations was England 80 - 23 Italy.

There's so much riding on Ireland - France in a fortnight's time, as we suspected there might be. Wales's nightmare continues. The top three teams - we just don't know what's going to happen! Scotland don't have a great deal of points, but have shown some potential as well. Very entertaining tournament so far.

Next time is crunch time for Ireland and France, but Wales will also be desperate to break out of their rut at Murrayfield, building on their signs of life this weekend. England have a couple of easier matches to finish the tournament, and will simply be looking for ten points and hope for the best. Their chance of winning is a bit of an outside one, but it's there, and they could well finish second, losing only to Ireland, who take a Grand Slam, by less than a converted try, away, which would be respectable.

Nice Altered Beast throw back…

Wales are in this game!

Scotland 14 - 8 Wales!

Edit: Scotland immediately score another try lol. Their third in 27 minutes. Wales at least showing signs of life though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Very entertaining game! Definite signs of life from Wales, although they still lost yet again. But they come away with two points, and some momentum and self-respect. Nice work from Scotland OTOH, they were ruthless in attack.

Weekend Four, Day One Results

Ireland 27 - 42 France
Scotland 35 - 29 Wales

Fascinating game at Murrayfield today, as I commented above. Didn't catch Ireland - France live (on TV), but also an intriguing result! Unexpectedly France have gone and done Ireland in Dublin and gone top lol! Can't wait to watch this one.

So it all comes down to one week's time. All France have to do is not slip up against Scotland. Even if they win with no bonus point, and Ireland win with a bonus point, which they probably will, France will finish a point ahead. The last time Scotland beat France away was 2021. So all Irish hopes are pinned on Scotland now, and second would be immense for Scotland, but isn't likely.

England are aiming for a somewhat mediocre third place. Wales have now equalled Italy for the longest run of consecutive losses by a Tier One team (16). England should expect to have the kitchen sink thrown at them in Cardiff next week as Wales desperately try to avoid breaking that record, as well as losing ten in a row in the Six Nations - every game in two tournaments back-to-back. But England will show no mercy. They'll be looking to squash Italy tomorrow as well to build the momentum, after the shaky result over Scotland last time.

Still, looks like France are the strongest in the Northern Hemisphere!
