This game looks amazing so I think it deserves its own thread. Silent Hill 2 was a masterpiece imo and it captured horror better than any other game I've played in recent memory. The Japanese setting is going to make it really creepy.

Here's more information on the game.

- Game takes place in 1960s Japan in a town called Ebisugaoka.
- Play as a student named Shimizu Hinako
- The story is being written by Ryukishi07
- Akira Yamaoka is working on the soundtrack
- The player will have to solve puzzles
- Players use axes, crowbars, knives, and spears to defend against and kill enemy creatures in melee-style combat.
- Cutscenes sometimes depict gore and more intense acts of violence.

Anyone else looking forward to this? I hope it releases in 2025. We need some good horror games this year.

Oh wow maybe this thing is coming out sooner than thought. Found this on X.

Looks awesome but I don't know understand why they attached the silent hill name to it. Seems like it's something completely different.

I’ve only played the remake so I’m confused why people aren’t considering this a Silent Hill game. It seems to capture the spirit pretty well imo. It has the fog, the secluded town, the body horror, seems to deal with psychological themes, etc. What is it that feels off to you guys?

Going to preorder this today. So hyped. If this is just as good as SH2 Remake I think I can say I like it over RE games.

Konatsu Kato is the actress playing Hinako. I like that the Japanese use the likeness of the actors in their games. We see it in Death Stranding, Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, etc. There's been too many Western games that have changed the characters appearance so much that it doesn't even resemble the actor they used

Not loving the look of the combat but I'm sure I'll adapt. I've booked the day off on its release

I never really think of combat as a true staple mechanic of SH games, heck Shattered Memories didn't even have any (though that was a departure entry, though an excellent one), so as long as it's acceptable but the other elements (atmosphere, art direction, creature design, locations, puzzles, story, detective work) are on point it should work.

I know there are preview up but this game just seems best to be played not knowing much. Think I’m going to respect that and not post or watch videos. I’ll just come back here to post thoughts once I have it. Hopefully nobody spoils anything as this game probably has some crazy moments

Started a second playthrough. Already an hour into it. It’s so rare that I do second playthrough but this story is something else. Each playthrough uncovers more of the story and has brand new notes and cutscenes. 9 out of 10 for me. Only weakness being enemy variety and combat doesn’t really blow me away. Everything else is amazing though. Shot up my list of favorite games this year next to Expedition 33.

Just finished it yesterday. I liked the Silent Hill 2 remake more, but this one was still good. Will probably try a harder difficulty next play through if I decide to play again.
