Hi I am trying to get a good idea of what size gi fits what type of body for myself and some buddies. If you have owned a Shoyoroll gi please follow this template:

Height:
Weight:
Size:
Batch:
Shrink/Cold wash:
Details:

------------------------------------------------
Shoyoroll Gi Size that you wear:
Shoyoroll Batch #/'s you own:
Did you shrink to fit via dryer or just cold wash/air dry out of the bag?
Extra details: (such as skinny/husky/broad shoulders/sleeves are a little too long or short/skirt too short)
------------------------------------------------
I'll start first, thanks guys

Height: 5'6"
Weight:173 lbs
Size: A2
Batch: Pedro Sauer 450 and 500 pearl weaves
Shrink/Cold wash: Shrinked
Details: Broad shoulders, sleeves are right above the wrists, pants fit great, prefer pants to be 1" shorter

Height: 5'6"
Weight: 145lbs
Size: A1
Batch: 4 and both Batch 6 models
Shrink/Cold wash: Shrink
Details: All 3 gis needed to be washed multiple times at high temps to fit properly. Ended up selling both Batch 6 gis as they were still a bit too big. Batch 4 - Ok fit, baggyish body, pants need to be 1" shorter. Batch 6 - Poor fit. Sleeves 1" too long, body far too baggy (poor cut for A1 IMO), pants needed to be 2" shorter.

Side note - In future I will order an A0 as I feel that the sizing is wrong.

James

Height: 5'11"
Weight: 143
Size: A1
Batch: 7 (7th and Golden State)
Shrink/Cold wash: hang dry indoors/ cold wash ... perfect shrinkage after four washes
Details: Jacket for both came a little big at first, but after a couple washes it was a great fit, very tailored with the perfect amount of room to move around. Sleeves came right at wrist for both jackets. Golden State jacket shrank up a bit better than 7th Son. Ripstop pants for the 7th son had minimal shrinkage and fits pretty good (width wise) but a little short (1-1.5 inches above my ankles) but not too bad (especially if I decide to wear my pants a little lower than usual). I bought an A2 Golden State pair of pants (cotton twill) that fit good length wise but a tad wider than I like width wise (after a couple washes). I was afraid the cotton twill Golden State A1 pants would become too small for me after a couple of washes. If it had been ripstop pants I would have stayed with the A1.

Height: 5'8"
Weight: 160 lbs
Size: A1
Batch: 7 (Golden State)
Shrink/Cold Wash: cold wash/hang dry- minimal shrinkage on jacket, pants shrunk 1-2 inches.
Details: I have average length arms and legs and broad shoulders with a fairly wide back due to doing towel pull-ups to improve my grip strength for BJJ. Jacket fits pretty well, though the sleeves feel like they might become too short if it shrinks anymore. Pants feel about 1.5" too short. Thinking about getting an A2 in the next batch and then shrink it using cold wash and dryer.

thanks for your post guys! appreciate it! lets keep this going!

Height: 5'61/2
Weight: 132lbs
Size: A1
Batch: #7 (7th son) #8 (white mamba & yank)
Shrink/Cold wash: shrinks in cold wash
Details: pant and sleeve length is perfect, though back area is slightly baggy.

Here's a pic from the 7th son review, the batch #8 review will be up in a day or two.

problem is I am 5"6 and 173 lbs. I normally wear an A2 shoyoroll but i have to shrink it with the drier. i am afraid the gi and pants will be too tight on me. plus this is a gold weave i heard they shrink more than rip stop gis

Hard to say, depends on your body type I think. If you're barrel chested, might be a little snug.

That said, if you look at the side view, you can see there's still some material, so you might be able to fit in.

I'm basically the same size as you but idk if I should get the A1 o2 A2. The sizing chart says the A2 is 160-195 in weight and I'm under 160. The heigt for the A1 cuts off at 5'8 and I'm 5'11.

I have no clue what to do. I'll probably get an A2 and shrink it.

yeah, you have to think sleeve length...at 5'11", your sleeve length would be better with the A2, and you could even shrink it down a bit if needed.

I might have a good chance in an A2, but if I get an A1, I am really worried that it will be very snug around the shoulders, and the skirt will be too short.

honestly to what i am getting at now, the gis are more based on "height" but I could be wrong. Check this out for reference, Budo Jake is 5'10" 155-160 lbs and wear an A1. I am shooting towards getting an A1 (but I usually get an A2) and not shrinking it. but I am worried it will shrink over time since it's a gold weave!

he might be fine, problem is it might be a little baggy for him, but shrinking is possible.

hi seammagear,

has you the sleeves and pants shrank ever since? i am worried over time the A1 sleeves and pants will become shorter and shorter like my lucky gi

thanks

Do the pants shrink much? I'm 5'8" and 175lbs so the A2 should be the right size but I'm worried it'll swamp me.

Height: 5'8"
Weight: 160 but compete at feather
Size: A1
Batch: 7th son, golden state, yank
Shrink/Cold wash: cold wash, hang dry. I feel comfortable throwing the yank and 7th son in the dryer though
Details: fit like a glove out of the bag--

You don't actually have to shrink the jacket and pants. You can shrink one of the other if needed. Just throwing that out there.

I'm 5'10 190lbs. I will be going for the new batch.

I had the opposite concerns, I am about 20lbs heavier but I usually need an A3 for sleeve length but the body is way too baggy, so I ordered an A2 and an A3S and figure whichever one doesn't fit, i'll sell. . .
