Elections Should the US election be decided by electoral votes or popular votes?

Should the election be decided by electoral votes or popular votes?

States already have rights and representation. They're called their congressional representatives.

Since you're hung up on this, I'll present it to you this way. Every state has a number of votes (kind of like how every state has a number of votes in the EC). However, unlike the EC the number of votes at most is the number of citizens in the state that have the right to vote. It may be less than that if less citizens vote. All those votes get tallied. EXCEPT instead of ONLY the majority votes in a state getting represented in the final total tally, even the minority votes get tallied in the final total. Every state sends their majority and minority votes to the final tally. The majority of all those votes tallied together is what decides the President. That is equal representation for everybody and everyone within a state gets their vote counted. Excellent, yes? YES.

well its on the states to decide that cause its not a unitary state with centralized government...

why is that so hard?

Basically grimballer is saying Murka isn't really a country.

{<huh}

just cause its decentralized doesn't mean its not a country...

why lefties always push for centralized dictatorships?

Yes, the states can amend the Constitution. That doesn't actually form an argument against my proposal and explanation for popular vote for President, which can still be viewed as a state representative act. So you agree with me? Popular vote is excellent and best? Okay, I accept your concession.

those are separate issues...

if states decide they want popular vote in presidential elections thats their decision.

what you arguing doesn't make sense the way us is set up right now.

theres no reason for smaller states to accept even less representation in presidential elections

every vote counts....

why are you against smaller states being represented?

Who says they're not? Every State has two Senators and a proportional number of Representatives, so what are you crying about?

youre the one crying about ec not being "fair", so you tell me?

Yes, which is why I do not know why you brought it up just to agree with me.

It's actually everyone's decision if we want to do away with the electoral college. Please learn about the Constitution.

You do know this thread is about a hypothetical situation right?

theres no reason for smaller states to accept even less representation in presidential elections

They get representation that is true to their citizen size. 1 citizen = 1 vote. It's the best. Smaller states already have the Senate for equal State representation and the house is skewed proportionally for more representation to smaller states as well. You just like oppressing larger states because you have a mind that does not value equality. Why should the right leaning farmers of California be disenfranchised?

you constantly mix things up

so you change constitution via nation wide referendum?

interesting...

doesnt mean it shouldn't be practical

oh yes, larger states are so oppressed by states with 3 ec...

what happened to equity?

you constantly mix things up

More like you know two things and they are jack and shit.

So it's clear you're not an American and know nothing about the country or its government.

doesnt mean it shouldn't be practical

Popular vote is the most practical.

Smaller states are over represented. How is that equality? It's not.

so you dont know basic things about us politics?

So you can't answer a simple yes or no question. You already exposed yourself as a non-American who knows nothing about the US system of government whereas I've had to teach you things this entire thread.

I know we have weird non American trolls on this forum that love talking about American politics but you take the cake for the dumbest one.
